my room mate & I would have to agree with #13's comment. My Room mate is good @ find a word games (which is hunt-a-word in this game) & was a tad peeved, they give you 4 minutes for the rounds & it took her over 3 minutes to find the 1st word. Now with "jumble" she was beyond being peeved when she said 1 of the words was not a word she ever heard of. So she went lookin for the meaning & it turned out that the way they spelled the word in "Jumble" turns out is "cheifly a British Vulgar slang" word.
The bottom line if you missed this game when it was free you didn't miss anything

Easy to download... Played all games and like them all, although I think the level of difficulty between them vary GREATLY, it was still a fun game that I wouldnt mind my kids playing.

Thanks to posters for reference to game timer use. I don't care to add pressure/stress in a game "Click with a mouse in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other" sounds more relaxing that with a timer. For that reason alone, I'm not even giving this game a try.
Take note "Alawar" of this simple option to greatly improve this game.
Thanks ...

I agree the timer should be up to the player. Just allow the player to turn it off.

I teach elementary Special Ed; I downloaded this onto my four classroom computers today and set some kids loose on it. I quickly realized this was folly. It's got some good games, but letters must be clicked on. Most word games of this sort allow you to type the words you find. The words in the word seek were, as one other poster mentioned, strange. The time limits are restrictive, and don't give a lot of think time to children (one kid timed out in the hangman game before he could guess two or three letters). I haven't played with it much myself, but what I saw of it was that the vocabulary is geared toward adults. Most adults I know that play games like this can type a word faster than trying to click on letters on an onscreen keyboard, which is frustrating when you're dealing with a time limit, anyway. I might use the word scramble game with some of my kids in groups, and I won't uninstall it, because I like to have a variety of educational games on hand for my students, but I really don't see them choosing this one if they're given free choice of what to play. There are similar and better versions online that can be played for free.

This would be a much better game if there was an option to disable the timer!!

I was whining for a word game, and was really excited to see this one this morning!
I downloaded and installed it without a problem.
Upon opening it, I was pleased to see that it included 4 different games, but after trying all of them I was disappointed.
I am a scrabble fan and felt that had I been obliged to pay for this I would feel ripped off. The games seemed low budget (like the kind you get on the CD games which say they are offering 55 FULL sized games(but half of them are low budget like these)
The games graphics were ok(except for the wordsearch one which DID use a strange font)
The fact that they ALL had timers was really the last straw.
I and many others have mentioned this a few times; that most people like to have the choice of having a timer or not.
Sure it is great to challenge oneself sometimes but it's nice to relax sometimes too.
Now I think Alawar has MANY wonderful games (and very talented people) but this was not an example.
Uninstalled and looking forward to more interesting picks over the days ahead.
Thanks for letting me try this, GGOTD!

Made numerous attempts at downloading from both sites throughout the morning but canceled them as something seemed wrong. Incredibly slow and that's never happened. Two of my mirror site attempts gave me a "finished" download that was incomplete. Finally got the whole thing in regular expectied time. Installed, activated and plays nicely. I love my Magic Tea game from Alawar. I'm sure I will like this too. Thanks GGOTD! ; )

A bit of a disappointment but some word game addicts that missed it first time around may appretiate the second chance at getting it.

Downloaded and installed fast and without problems.

Plays fine, I have no trouble with it. I appreciate that in the word jumble, one can type out the words instead of clicking with the mouse. The jumble is my favourite.

All four games are fun, and play is intuitive. None of the games are set up to be too difficult, but they can all give you a little brain workout, nonetheless. All games have a timer, which is nice, but the option to turn that off in certain games might be appreciated by some.

Graphics are well suited for the game, easy to see, but not really beautiful. Still, they aren't unattractive either.

The music isn't bothersome, and helps to keep pace while playing.

Definitely a keeper, as I love word games. Thanks, GGAOTD.

I have win98 and I am on dial-up.Game downloaded in about 12 min.Activated and installed fine.I have played it in all four modes.
Play is fine.Nice graphics. On a scale of 1-10 I would give this game an 7 because of the poor word list. But not a big problem. My son likes it,he's 4.It is a great time waster. Thanks to Alawar and GGAOTD for another great game.Be back tomorrow.

#22--Maybe it's sexist! :P
Good little program for word game lovers, originally offered last December. Four of the most common, simple word games in one pack, just like they describe it---one-handed gameplay, pleasant audio and crisp visuals. Nice brain-massager to help keep us old-timers huffsling along.

Personally I wouldn't bother.

Suitable for secondary school kids but put together like it's aimed at primary kids.

Just a guessing game really with no clues as to the answer and American spellings so NOT for me.

Very Boring game and I play scrabble A LOT!!

Thanks anyway GGAOTD. B Back tomorrow.

Another fun game from Alawar; by now I would give any of their games a chance. I played this game longer than I meant to.
One complaint this time though, I really wish there was a way to modify the timer or even turn it off. The timer might limit the age group that can enjoy this game. It's named Word Challenge Extreme, and it really does put the pressure on.:)
I liked the music and really liked the sounds. The graphics are solid and well done, looks great windowed, but a bit fuzzy full screened. I really didn't like the font used in the Hunt-a-word game, made my eyes cross!
I didn't run into any problems with the game's functions, everything seemed to operate fine. I think it was really worth the download, fun and gives the gray matter a workout. Thumbs up and a big thanks for the quality of the offerings from Alawar.

The game activated and played okay, but how do I turn the cheesy music down? I went to options and tried to move the circle on the line, but it wouldn't move. Any suggestions?

Thank you GOTD and Alawar for you continue generosity giveaway,

So far this is the best Word game which meet the quality. But a little small 'issue' for the 'Word Jumble game'. How come it accept 'Jane' but not 'Sam' ? :) Anyway definitely a keeper. Thanks guys.

Installed sucessfully without registering at all. Firstly, I download and save it to a file, unzipped the file then clicked the activate file and clicked "run" then clicked the setup file and "run" it. That's it.

I open the game and played for hours until now.

Thanks to GAOTD...

cool game. The only problem I have with this game is that my native language is not english. That makes it very difficult - even in the first levels :p

But I can´t give it a bad rating for that. It is a good working game with nice functional graphics.
Thumbs up!

I also installed in on Vista Ultimate 32 bit. I activated first but the install licensing said Shareware. The program itself did not indicate if it was registered or now so I don't know if I have a limited version. I did click on "Register Now" from the shortcut group and then "already purchased" but it wanted an "unlock key". I don't know what to do.

It looks like a neat game and I had no trouble with the install itself except for the fact it did not let me tell it where to put the shortcut group in "Start Menu". I just move the group later.

Is there any way to tell where we stand on registration the way this thing installs?

The idea is great, in fact, i love word games, however not this one. i played all of the games in this program...and found that the words used in the games are either nonexistent or spelled incorrectly.

it may look like a good game, but when you play it you will be dissappointed.

the game where you can attach the letters in the grid to form words is not very easy to use..the letters, once clicked are very difficult to unclick. When I would click the letters for the word i wanted, the game would click, for example the second letter, instead of the first.

i would love to see more games like this one, however with the bugs fixed. The last game i played with the jumble, had a word that does not exist at all. Also many words in the game, are actually hyphinated, while in the game it is one word, ie. email...one of the words in hangman in this game.
