My 5 year old grandson is a game junkie. He has a Wii game that he plays everyday. I happened to download Turtle Adventures so when he comes over he'll have something to play. He loved it. It's a great babysitter EXCEPT for the fact I couldn't get him to go to bed. He didn't want to stop playing it.

It seems to be running on Vista Home Premium. I like the Turtle Odyssey 2 a lot because you can use your mouse but this one is cute too. Even though its for kids I get stuck a lot and can't get through a level.

Hi Linda, when using the mouse you have to move the mouse in the directin you want it to go while pessing the left mouse button. Sorry, I didn't make myself clear.

This was such a great game!! I'm not very good at playing video games, I never had time. So when something keeps me entertained for about a 5 hour time span. It's truly amazing. The graphics are great. Just wish it gave you more of a hint how to get to where you need to go at the upper levels of play! I believe that older children would love it also.

What a fun game! I guess I'm not real good at this stuff, because I find it to be a bit of a challenge even at the "easy" setting. Still, don't be deceived by the cartoony graphics; I think it's pretty creative. No wonder there was a sequel. :)

I tend to favor the turtle quest 2 game more, however, this one is also addicted and worth the download.

Whiterabbit said "The option menu only indicates that keyboard and joystick controls can be used; however you can also use the mouse to move and make turtle jump as well." Can someone tell me how to make it so I can use my mouse instead of keys? It will only accept the mouse for 1 movement, either left or right or jump.

#47. I have it installed on my Vista (Home Premium). I'm not sure why you're having a problem unless you have to install as an administrator. (Personally I turned off UAC because it really adds little to security.)

If you really want answers, however, you should post which version of Vista you have and what you're doing and what happens when you try and install it. (Or better yet post on the forums).

The game is indeed nice and I downloaded it last time. However I WISH we would get more new games to try. Especially since we only get the two games a week now.

Really enjoy the Turtle games. I can't get Ozzy to fart bubbles as a weapon, yet I see "fire" as an option. I'm using Vista and ran it as an administrator. Are bubbles not a feature or is it Vista? Thank you! I've gotten my cubicle buddy to play Ozzy. Both games are simply addictive.

Hi Phil, yeah I agree with you about the games; apart from the two gametop games. The others are a little below usual arcade standards, but they are freeware, and support today’s platform theme. I'm so engrossed in the freeware thread over in the forums at the moment that I got a little carried away.

As for the reviews being too long; if I took away the links to the alternative games, the screenshots, videos and other reviews plus the intro’, there would be hardly anything left of the review. As others have said for me previously when someone complains that my reviews are too long; just use your mouse wheel if you don’t want to read them. Still, I’m always looking for ways to make my reviews a little more succinct. If you’ve any ideas as to how I can accomplish this without taking away the useful stuff, then please do tell me as I’d love to please everyone.

Regards

Whiterabbit

The game is great and I can configure the controls using my Logitech Dual Action Gamepad easily through the main menu. I do understand that selling a downloadable game online has download size constraints considered, but would the developers consider making a higher quality background graphic for each level that does not look all blurred and pixelated?

This was the 1st platform game I ever played, compliments of GGTD in March 2007. I have thoroughly enjoyed the game [as well as Turtle Odyssey 2, and Turtix 1 and 2] in spite of being a skeptical "grown-up" with no desire to play something so childish.

Give it a try... we all have plenty of adult stuff to deal with day in and day out. Turtle Odyssey is a nice escape that is lots of fun to boot. The graphics really are outstanding when compared to many similar games.

The game recommended by Stephen aka WhiteRabbit, Dungeon Rider [see link above] is worth downloading and playing, too.

I downloaded Turtle Odyssey 1 and ended up with jibberish. Nothing can be read on it, there are letters, numbers, a foreign symbols all over the first screen that pops up. I had to use control, alt, delete just to close it down. And when I went to unistall it, it wasn't in my programs. How do I get the darn thing off my computer?

I followed Whabbit's links to the 2007 and 2008 ...both of them said that they had 20 new levels!

So, I believe there is nothing new about this version that wasn't on it the last 2 times it was given away...

I was ready to write this one off as just another repeat. But after reading the comments it appears there are extra levels. I like the game so I'll give it a try. The best part is this is not an installition. It's an extraction. Just choose a destination and unzip it. If you like it, keep it. If you don't like it, delete it. No muss no fuss. I have to agree with some of the comments here about repeats. Agree? Hell I've been raising this issue for months now. The GGAOTD has been nothing but repeats for several months now. I am so happy others are seeing this and speaking out. Can't you give at least one new game a weekend? Anyway this post may appear to some to be an ungrateful comment. But it's not. I greatly appreciate both sides of this site. I have gotten so many great games and programs. I always visit here and I am a loyal fan. Thank you guys for your efforts.

A website that is or has reached the end of it's time. For but a short moment this website offered at times nice games. Un-fortunately, that time has passed. Today it offers repeats. May it rest in peace.

shudderette - #14 - I believe you are referring to Turtle Odyssey 2 being offered a few weeks ago. This is Turtle Odyssey (the first one). ;)

Let me make a prediction, tomorrows game will either be a game previously offered here at least once if not twice or a Merscom or similar game that is not of great quality. That is all that is offered anymore. (I call them like I see them) :!:

If you want good games you need to check out the threads in the forums. Whiterabbit and Wizzard of Ozz have been doing a great job posting mostly older games but they are still better than the usual offerings here. :)

Yesterday I downloaded Wings of War. It was around a 1 gig download broken into 6 pieces. It took me almost a hour to download and set-up but should be well worth it. Now I just need to get my joystick out of mothballs since I didn't do well using keyboard controls.

I downloaded this game previously. My two-year old grandson always ask "can I play the turtle game". He knows exactly which icon it is and can open the file himself. He is really good at it. I enjoy it also. I also have Turtle 2 and we both enjoy playing it. Thank you GGOD for the opportunity to get free games.

I got Turtle Odyssey a few weeks back and it was so addictive it cut into my study time (and I'm having exams!).

I was so impressed by the simplicity of the game but yet so addictive so I decided to try out its predecessor; Turtle Odyssey.

I didn't regret it. :)

Hey, come on how about some grownup games. These cutesy ones are ok for kids but grownups need something more to challengs their more intelligent brains. White Rabbit: Though I appreciate some of the research you do, sometimes I think you're comments are wayyyyyyyy too long and some of the games you choose are poor in quality at best. If you're going to post games please make them something worth investigating.

Just for clarification, the game given away a few weeks ago was turtle odyssey 2 <--- note the 2. Today's giveaway is the first version, apparently with more levels added than the last time it was given away.

Oh, and I really enjoyed this game's second version, very nice graphics and story line. I am sure I will enjoy this one as well.
