Quite a simply designed, but difficult HOG. As others have said: complete a HOG scene, then play a minigame, is the way this one works.

BUT it has one MAJOR annoyance: if you turn MUSIC volume off (zero), surprise! After each completed scene or minigame, the music turns itself back on again. That's VERY annoying for those of us who want to hear SFX but NOT music, because we can't just mute the PC sound.

While we're all missing Whiterabbit, I thought it'd be interesting to see what Adobe's new AI thought of him...

Reviews on Steam reinforce what JB said. Only recommended for hardcore HO fans who need practically no story and just want piles of HOs to play. And, I admit, I have some like that. And might be good for beginners, but: Steam reviews do say there's a small - though maybe more than normal - amount of bugginess - jboy's problem would fit in with what I read - and execution issues. Also translation issues. No one says the story, what little there is of it, makes much sense - especially the ending. Pretty much a bare bones HOG not likely to give folks too much difficulty in the long run. But, if you're an adventure player, this isn't that type of game in reality. Some clarity in instructions also supposed to be lacking. Hint system may be the only way to understand some of the puzzles.

Thanks, though, GGOTD and Toomky.

A nice game. Installed fine, plays fine. I've played three hidden object levels, and collected three 'charms?' - but there hasn't been any text to give me any idea of the goal. The hidden objects and scenes are nicely done.

Hidden object game with very little story. Hidden object areas have nothing to do with the story line itself. Find the same set of objects over and over. Some of the object labels are a bit off. Mini games after the hidden object segments have no purpose and have no instructions, often left wondering what to do. Coloring is very dark and hard to see even with monitor brightness turned up to 100%.

+2 Time Zone __01:22 27/3/2023

just installed the game under Windows XP ,
because I am still using Windows XP .... :-)
I've spend about 20 minutes playing the game
just to see if I would encounter any problems .
The game works just fine .
So , if someone has problems running this game ,
maybe setting compatibility mode to Windows XP ,
will solve the problems .
The game is pretty old .
After 10 min. Google searching I've found out that the
game was released at 31-03-2011 .

https://www.voidu.com/en/product/the-secret-of-hildegards/4894

I don't now if the date is accurate , but is the oldest .

I did not play the game long enough to have an opinion about it .
I've just played the first secret objects scene and solve the first puzzle .
It looks like a standard HOG .
My only problem was that the secret objects scene was pretty dark .
I had problems finding the objects .
Other than that it seems like an enjoyable HOG game .

JEDIGEG,

I had stated in a previous comment that I could not get this game to work and thought I had tried everything. I neglected to uninstall it yesterday and just saw your comment and tried your suggestion of "setting compatibility mode to Windows XP" and that worked! Thank you!

I am adding a short review today because I am busy with house chores. In particular I don't like how the screen transitions. Scenes fade out constantly when you click around the scenes. It would speed up the game if the scenes transitioned more quickly. The custom cursor in the game makes it difficult to click around the scenes.

In brief- this hidden object game is very buggy in my opinion and there are others that are at least more stable and playable.

We have had hidden object games that have combined hidden object scenes with clutter scenes and they have been more stable.

This is an old school Hidden Object Game made back in 2011. Old school means it is mostly hidden object scenes and mini games, but it was one of the early games to try to first add a basic story/plot to the game which is ok but lacks a good ending which is abrupt. So judging it by 2011 standards its well made, but by 2023 standards I would not suggest to use this as the standard for all HOG games if you have not played many or this is your first since many are quite good out there.

Here's a little cheat sheet as the game sometimes has some issues with english vocabulary: a lamp is a light bulb, a mandaline is a mandolin, a watch is a clock, a flacon is a small flask for perfume, and napkins is... toilet paper. Of course you can make it through by clicking everything but whats the fun in that. A hint meter is available to help you along but is a bit slow to recharge. The mini puzzles were OK for the most part but the one failing I saw was a total lack of directions both for these and the game overall. Some things are not as easy as they should be like creating a player you dont click PLAYER but click the CHANGE under that to get to the player creation/deletion menu.

All in all a couple hours of your time if you like HOGs in general, certainly more fun than some of the brief time wasters we get that are good for a few minutes only or arent really even full games :) ... but not recommended for the top of the list if you have a backlog of them.

Help please...my PC is so full. Can I put this on and play it on an external hard drive that is attached to my PC?

unruly,

I install all my games on a WD Passport external drive and they work fine. I then plug the drive into the USB whenever I want to play. I know this message is a day late but I just saw yours and I hope this gets to you.

I tried three times to download and play this game, but got nothing but a blank screen every time. I love hidden objects games, and wish it had worked.

Hi everyone,

Just got a message from that Wrascally Wabbit...

"Please would you leave a brief note on the site to let the community know I'll be back in the not too distant future. Just needed the break to recharge my batteries. After doing it since 2008."

So he will be back....

Take care all.

Windows 10. No issues with the games operations. A lot of the hidden objects are obscured in darkness and even after using the hint button they were unrecognizable. I love a good hog. Unfortunately this just isn't one. ymmv.
Just the same, Thanks to the gaotd team and Toomky for the offer.

Doesn't work for me. After a few clicks on the shortcut with nothing happening, the game finally opened. The title looks to be in Russian(?) but the clickable actions are in English. I click on Options, Player1, the thing on the door and they highlight so the click is obviously working but they do not open. I tried running as administrator and also using the Troubleshooter but nothing fixes it. For the record, I am using Win10HomeX64. Thanks anyway!

I fairly primitive hidden object game with a mini-game after each hidden object scene. Looks like it hasn't been here before.
