I've just completed this game (with a crick in my neck from bending to get close enough to the screen to try to see the objects!). I'm sad to say that I agree with the various negative comments about the graphics: blurry and dark (even with the brightness turned all the way up). The hint is so slow to recharge, and then when it shows it's difficult to see just where it's pointing to.
On the positive side, I liked the music and also found that there was ample time on the timer.
It's very short and it was a bit disappointing to find that there were just HOGs and a tile-swap (make a picture) puzzle in between each set of HOGs; also that the HOGs had a lot of repeats - although that did help with slogging through the game!
Sorry - I'm deleting this one, but at least I finished it before doing so. It felt like a very early game (or at least an early attempt by a trainee).

Thought I would post this; I downloaded and installed this game yesterday onto my Win7Pro with no problems. Yes after installation, I tried to pull the game up to play, but it said I had no java installed. I thought to myself while; had this computer now for 4 years without java. I wanted to play the game so I installed the java; I played the game through to the end which wasn't long as it only had 6 picture puzzles to solve (which were very easy)and then it said "End". Disappointed. Throughout the game, I was impressed at attempting to find a few (very few) objects and did find them with the help of the "hint" (liked the hint process using a telephone; getting a dial tone when you couldn't use the hint until it was recharged/since I hadn't used it, I wondered about that). I must say I did enjoy playing it, but just now I uninstalled it as I got my fill of the game! Thanks goad for having it yesterday, but I am still curious about no java installed at the beginning of this game.

i didn't get very far . the hint indicator is lacking and has s a time out. not good as my memory isn't that great to find them a second time.

Sadly I agree with the other comments about this not being a great game. Just repeating the same items and adding in a couple of extra items on each level makes it boring. Finished it way too quickly. Ending really flat, no real conclusion. If there is a story to a game at least make it interesting and come to a proper finale.
I had no problems technically - didn't lose progress, graphics ok but nothing great.
Sadly it's such a duffer I will delete and not keep for playing again.

Your explanation also made me smile. I’m also retired, (due to my accident), I spent some time working on the road as a motorcycle courier. loved the job
-----------------------
Funny as I was a courier for the 10 years proceeding the 5 I spent driving the cab, but in cars and trucks, not on a bike. Although at one time I owned one...dropped it once and had to get help picking it back up so decided I needed to sell it if I couldn't pick it up anymore.
And I always sorta thought White Rabbit came from Alice in Wonderland and your love of games! :D

Hi!!
Downloaded with ease. Graphics decent - could be more enhanced! Game plays easily. If anything a little slow. I like to click on next item, but have to wait for the program to digest them first. I thought this was the one I had some time back and lost in a crash. The name sounded the same, but I think the items are different. I remember that game having difficulty finding items from shapes, but prefer something of a challenge. but all didn't fit on the screen too, so far they have with this one.
Played a couple of rounds easy. Couple of items very hard to discover, but fine with me. I did find it odd they didn't have an enter button after clicking New and typing in name. Pressing enter is always the alternative, but some may have difficulty. I didn't hear the Christmas music b/c I have the sound low, since others are sleeping. lol!
Thanks for another game!!

I agree with the criticisms already given: the graphic resolution is not great, so objects in the dark areas are really hard to find; the music is oddly inappropriate; the hint meter takes too long to recharge and the hint highlight was really dim and hard to spot. I don't like timed games as a rule, but this was so generous (30 minutes per scene) that time was not an issue.
But I did enjoy this game, and played it through in one shot (It's a short game), so thanks GGOTD and Xing!
Note: 1. Watch the clock hand in the telephone dial of the hint meter to see when it's recharged -- it's slow, and carries on recharging into next scene. 2. The timer is in upper right corner of the screen, and not easy to see. 3. You can only act in map areas with a magnifying glass.

It isn't often that I delete a free game within 24 hours of downloading it, but I have done so with this one.
It's incredibly frustrating to search for dark things hidden in dark corners of a screen, moreso when you don't really know what they are (bad translation?). To be timed out by a clock you can barely see (it's hidden top right) and then get sent right back to the beginning makes it even worse.
Not only that, but if you do manage to complete any part of the game, and quit to come back later, nothing is saved so it's back to the beginning, again - leading to more frustrated searching and wild clicking which reduces the time available leading to yet another view of the sarcastic comment.
Of course I haven't finished the blimmin game! Has anybody, ever?!
Save | Cancel
For the price I don't see why all the negative comments, it's a H.O.G. but there are many out there with better graphics, but if you play this you will find it very challenging. Thanks GGOTD!
Save | Cancel
I have to agree with the others - the game is hard to play - you can't see the objects you have to find. The not so sharp graphics isn't bothering me but the very small window in the windowed mode is.
I don't think I will play it farther cause I play for distraction and this is upsetting for me.
The installation wasn't possible from the download window - I got failed to lunch but when I went to the download folder in the explorer I could install it after installing Java like all the other had to - which couldn't be as I already play a lot of other Java using games but who am I to know...? *shrugs*
I'll be back tomorrow to see what you have to offer and thank you nonethless for the game today.

……………………………..Moderator comment………………………………
Thanks for your feedback LadyLei (is your screen name derived from Bob Dylans Lay Lady Lay?).
-------------------------------------------------
That made me smile!
Actually no it wasn't, although I am familiar with the song and like it.
I retired and thought I need a different screen name than CabLady as I was no longer driving for a living. So thought of this as a sort of play on words, female, so Lady; Lei because they are made of flowers and I like to garden. Also are giving out in Hawaii where I would love to visit and Lei as Leisure as I have a lot of time to do as I wish (even without any cash!) and I can lay (pronunciation) around as much as I want. Like the way you think though!

When I look for a game to play this is the type of game play I prefer; a point and click to discover and or solve for logic without time limitations. Upon loading up I liked the theme of a ghost ship but was surprised to hear Christmas music at the opening menu. This confuses the feeling of the game. I can understand that somewhere there was a young programmer kid who needed some eerie sounding theme music and without realizing it decided to use a popular piece from "the Nutcracker" Christmas play. I hate unoriginal ideas and/or lack of creative concerns to ensure a game remains intriguing and fascinating. The lack of a consistent game flow has ruined my interest in this offering here today. Additionally, the map which guides you through the discoveries of the game to develop the story of the ghost ship has many unclickable items from the very start. It would make more sense to force guide the user/player to what he or she needs to investigate next rather than to waste time clicking on every item you cannot use as of yet. In other words, make every item I see on the screen a playable item or don't waste my time with your inability to provide me with the good entertainment I seek. In my opinion this game is a waste of money to buy because the software company is rushing publication on its gameware without an editor in chief to double check game quality and consistency. The "Flying Dutchman" has zero value in monetary terms and is not marketable because it is incomplete. My advice is to take this great theme idea and put it back into production with coders who are more familiar with the grandfather of this style of gameplay such as the Myst trilogy. You can do better than this. Please don't make garbage. Thank you.

It's very hard to see things with these graphics. The hint does not recharge after you use it. I used it once and it didn't recharge even when I switched to a different scene. I also noted the same errors that others before me mentioned in their comments.

That was the worst HO game I've ever seen. It lasted less than 3 minutes on my computer. I'm not going to rehash what was wrong but all the complaints I read in the comments were true. Sometimes you just have to see for yourself though.

I really don't understand why in this day and age with wide screen high res monitors, gamemakers still have their games running only on 800x600 4:3. t.b.h it is not just this game by xing but I see it also still with playrix and the likes. running this game on my Bravia is highly annoying, a big black screen with an iluminated square in the middle where substandard graphics hurt my eyes. When starting up you get the "hint" that you can click whatever location to search for clues but the first 4 locations gave me a "no hints left" notification. Not a biggie of course yet still annoying, if just one location is available for clues/hints say so, don't say I can choose whatever location I want. imo one of the lesser games given away here and I have seen some cr** floating by here. I hope next game will be one of the better giveaways like we got a while ago with Legends of the Iron Lord

I agree 100% with #12 (TopazMystique)
Game ran fine on Win 7-64. Graphics are bad, hard to find items.
When you revisit a site, the items are EXACTLY in the same place! Lol.
Didn't know about the timer. That is bad also that you have to start over. Uninstalled via reboot.

What an absolutely horrible game. The graphics are so crude, couple that with hidden objects that are semi-transparent or hidden in dark or light areas and you simply can not locate the objects. I clicked on a handsaw handle 8 times before it took it. I wasn't sure what it was so I used the hint and sure enough it was the hand saw I had been clicking on.
The hint is terrible as well. Very hard to see and your object is not necessarily in the center of the hint circle.
The developers need to fix the bad graphics and then maybe this game will be playable.
Sorry, uninstalling.

Horrible game. I'm not really very good with HOGs, but this one is just frustrating to lay. I have the latest Java, no problem with that but I'm not a very patient HOG player...maybe if it was designed for six-year olds, it might work for me.

I agree with everything that TopazMystique (#12) mentioned since I felt the same way about it. Then I don't know if the creators have problem with the english language or not, but in the first scene, you havd to find a "bird". There a three of them on the screen! A parrot, a toucan and a seagull....(psst, it is the seagull they mean)
In the second scene you are supposed to find a "duck". No duck to be found, but if you click the swan, the word duck disappear!
Gave up at that point and uninstalled it.

I thought I had this game but it must have been from another computer. It is available from MyPlayCity but even then, I cannot have this game.
It requires java! I tried this version and watched as it installed and spot .jar files. That is definitely java.
I refuse to have java on my computer because I got tired of all the security problems a couple of years back. Every other version was being blocked by Firefox and giving all sorts of security errors.
Instead of being up one game in my "collection", I'm DOWN one because I'm removing the copy of "The Mystery of the Flying Dutchman" from MPC!
That java requirement should be listed! It's not fair to make us go through the trouble of downloading and installing (even with a fairly small game) for nothing!

Uh, Stephen, this isn't the "match three" game that's been given away before. This is a HOG that happens to have the same name. And after playing it for 20 minutes or so I would say it is not a very good one. The three screen shots at the top of the screen are from this game but all of the others at comment 11 are from a different game.

I installed the game on XP sp3 and windows 8.1. The game works fine on both OS's.
The graphics are not of a high quality, and that's a pity. But the game fills some empty hours and that's good enough for me (sometimes). ;-)
Thanks Xinginteractive and GGAOTD.

Downloaded in a few seconds, installed and opened fine. Win7Pro.
Tried playing the game and did a few scenes.
Very hard to see stuff and in one scene objects were below the screen.
The computer part of the game that I played twice was just jigsaw type puzzles that were a bit strange as they grayed out as the pieces got into the correct place.
When I got to the fourth location I couldn't find a key even with the hint button vaguely showing where it was. Ran out of time and the game informed me that I would have to start all over again and kicked me back to the opening splash screen. Not a happy camper with that and deleted the game. Graphics are not very good at all, scenes are too dark for the most part, hint button doesn't work very well in the locations, minimal story line...seemed more like an afterthought.
I would give this game a 1 out of 10 overall. Needs to go back to the drawing board in my opinion. Game Deleted. Sorry just not for me at all and I like HOGS; just not this one. Looking forward to tomorrow!

I should have known when I saw the polar bear on the island...
So, I started the game, and right away "click anywhere on the map" doesn't quite mean *anywhere.* (I don't like that.) I got started with the hidden objects. Some were easy, but the last couple, I simply could NOT find, leading to a Timed Out message: "What took you so long? Now you'll have to start all over." I thought they meant there, but no - at the beginning of the game at the "click anywhere." (I don't like that.) Same scene, different list of objects, except for two. If you click too many times in rapid succession, the timer counts down faster. (I don't like that.) There are glowing spots that get brighter, then dimmer, as does the overall scene. Here on my home PC, I had to stand up to see the screen in a different lighting perspective. And STILL couldn't find that one thing. (I don't like that.) Even when the hint showed me where it was - twice - couldn't find it.
Sorry, I really don't mean to complain so much, but I guess this one was just too aggrivating for me. I did, however, like the phone.
Dude! I think I'd better see if following the polar bear will get me off The Island. Otherwise, I'm LOST. But thanks for another game to try. Namaste.

I like ho games, but this is one of the worst. It runs with strange resolution, locations are dark and additionally flashes from dark to very dark. Some objects are very hard to find and totally invisible, black on dark and/or located on the edges, which are even darker. Puzzles are easy but less than 25% of the screen.
Thanks, but no.

I'll start off by saying I am totally shocked at how many thumbs up this game has gotten so far and that they are asking $10 for it! For those who have given it a thumbs up, have fun. For me, this has got to be THE WORST hidden object game I have ever attempted to play. Let me list just SOME of the things that are wrong with it.
1. I can forgive the poor English translations from foreign developers but the caustic remark when the timer runs out is simply unacceptable.
2. A game that has a timer should show it PROMINENTLY in the scene. It is in a dark area and the numbers blend into the background too much. I played in windowed mode and did not actually find the timer until I changed back to fullscreen. NOTE: This game would definitely benefit from a relaxed mode, i.e., NO TIMER.
3. The graphics are not only poor but most of the items rather than being blended into the scene are hidden in dark areas making it next to impossible to find. I turned up the brightness and still couldn't find items. I basically just selected dark areas and clicked all over.
4. The HINT indicator should have some indication that it is "charging". I kept trying it and it just kept giving me a "busy" signal so not sure if my clicking actually slowed it down or what.
5. Even using the HINT and madly clicking all over in the general area indicated, I still could not FIND whatever was hidden there. So either the hint was bad, there was nothing there or the item is so tiny it's almost impossible to find.
6. Run out of time and start over. UGH!
7. Game did not save progress for me so if that is the case, plan on playing until the end or leaving the game running.
About the only thing I can say GOOD about it is that there doesn't seem to be a misclick penalty.

sorry over-slept this morning, hence the late posting.
Problems:
If you have any problems installing or getting to work today's game please go HERE for help. I've posted all of the common problems and solutions in a FAQ thread, which you can find in the sticky section of the forums by following the above link.
If you are posting late in the day I would also suggest posting in the main giveaway forums, in the game discussion section because I cannot moderate 24hrs a day over the weekend. If you've installed the game but it won’t work for some reason, it should still be registered, so someone may be able to help at another time. Unfortunately if your problem is actually installing it then once the giveaway period is over there’s nothing that can be done until the game is given away again (though that isn't guaranteed). Sometimes you can still register the game after the giveaway has ended so long as you managed to start the download before the giveaway ends. I've tested this and sometimes the grace period lasts for up to 2 hours, but more often than not 1 hour is the norm.
It’s always worth checking out the free games sites because sometimes the games we get here are also available for free from them. MyPlayCity (MPC) has the most with over 1000 games to choose from.
If you do download any other games from MPC or the other free game sites 'do' watch out for toolbars etc. Make sure you un-check the check-boxes during installation, and, in the case of MyPlayCity, every time you boot the game up, (this may have changed now as MPC tend to change the format frequently. .. I've posted links to all of the common free game sites below in the games, games games section. :)
Games, Games, and yet more Games plus Download, Installation & Game play Problems:
There's a Halloween sale on over at Steam. There's too many great deals to mention; just pop over to the specials section for a list of nearly 1300 games on sale HERE
You'll also find some excellent deals over on the following Game sites, some of which have summer sales on. I've been selling my Steam trading cards and have already amassed nearly £200 just from selling these cards. i sold one for over £4 last week. all proceeds are going towards games. :)
GreenManGaming
Gamersgate Summer Sale
GOG (DRM free games)
Desura
Gamestop
GameFly (soon to be sold off)
Free Game Sites:
Jenkat Games
MyPlayCity (over a 1000 games to choose from)
Gametop
FreeGamePick
To be honest there are too many game deals around too list them all. Just visit the sites I recommend above and I'm sure you'll find something that suits you for a very decent price. If like me you prefer Steamworks games, many of the above sites also sell steamwork games.
If that's not enough, check out the Game Discussion forums HERE for details of other games either free or on deals such as the Indie Game bundles (there's over 20 of them - If you purchased all of them you'd be paying around $80 for around a thousand dollars worth of games); or check out the four day sales at IndieGameStand. I've updated the Indie Game bundle thread to include all the latest bundles. you'll find that thread HERE.
The latest IndieGameStand game is Wolf Wars a fantasy strategy card game. If you pay above the average which at the time of writing was $1.72 you will also get a second game called Still Not Dead a survival game with minecraft like graphics. This bundle ends around 5am (GMT)Monday 3rd Nov.
The latest Daily Indie game is Realms of the Haunting, a retro styled blend of FPS and Point & Click adventure with many unique and bizarre universes to explore. From a modern age, mysterious mansion to a medieval, surreal world full of monsters . You can get two keys if you pay more than $1.15; (one for a friend or family member perhaps?). You'll find that deal HERE. They also have a couple of bundles of several games that'll cost you less than $1.50 HERE. The single game deal ends Midnight sunday (GMT)
Most of the bundles retail for around $5 give or take a few dollars, but you can pay as little as a dollar for some.
Finally, if you want more match three games you'll find loads over on MyPlaycity and the other free sites. as already mentioned above, please be aware of the toolbars, home page changes and browser changes that can occur if you don't uncheck the check boxes.
A Request for help:
