I have two points to make.

1. I say that people should respect others' opinions of the software. When people say that "you can't complain because it's free" or some other similar drivel, I am defending others' opinions of the software. It's inevitable that I will, in the process, destroy some pointless "arguments".

2. Did it ever occur to you that, maybe, if I was really a horrible monster like you seem to think, that other people would notice? Right now, it seems like you're the only one who can see the "truth" about me - that I hate everybody here, especially you. Apparently, you've never read the comments on my reviews, or anybody else's opinion of me at all, for that matter. Even Whiterabbit and BuBBy like me!

At the risk of sounding like a hypocrite myself...the extreme idiocy of Lockett's comment for today's offering (comment #60) leaves me baffled as to why it was not denied publishing. He goes on to talk about how other people should respect each others opinions, when he himself trash talks almost EVERYONE'S opinion on a daily basis! The level of hypocrisy being exuded from this person could set a world record.

This game was offered last year and it wasn't good. GGOTD said they'd ease up on the repeats, but that has yet to happen.

I have Vista full version and not an upgraded XP version of it. I tried indigoBrown123's direction and instead of the prior Run-time error '429' ActiveX component can't create object and now I get a totally white screen with the most horrid music (I suppose you'd call it) which is an improvement but even for free it was not worth the whole day spent downloading such a large file using dial up. A complete waste of my, and everyone else who had the same trouble as me, time. Thanks anyway GAOTD. I'd rather have a screensaver showing the inside of an open fireplace anyday. lol :)

I have been very busy today(as is usually the case on Wednesdays), so I have had no time for a review. I also have not been able to play the game yet, as I downloaded it(more than half an hour on high-speed), installed it, could not run it, uninstalled it, read about the fix, installed the fix, and am now re-downloading it(15 minutes left at the moment). Needless to say, there will be no review from me today.

"It just floors me to see people complain……its free all…so to all those the shoe fits Stop Global Whinning!!!!!"

Did you like it? If so, for what reasons? Please, if there are reasons to like the game, list them, but if not, do not try to silence others' opinions(which are always justified in some way). If somebody sees any flaws in the game, they should say so - as it is much more informative to know what is wrong with something than to know what is right(e.g. "This car's transmission may be broken, but the engine runs great!"). Also, please do not use the meaningless phrase, "It's FREE!" to stifle negativity, as being free does not invalidate criticism. For example, if I pulled your ear and didn't charge you for it, it would be free. Would you have a right to complain? Similarly, all viruses are free, yet nobody has ever been grateful for them.

xxx will now tell me that I'm being rude and hateful and should leave this site permanently.

Talk about retro.....can't justify the size of the game for the graphics.....or lack there of. I won't vote either way as I'm not even going to try it.
Awaiting tomorrow.

Here are the links that Blaise comment #34 was so reluctant to post him/herself: It's a 53Mb download. When you get to the mirrors only the first one is valid anymore and that's a French site, so look for Telecharger, (charger means load I think) as that will take you to the download link. There's also an update to the game which can be downloaded from the third link below:

Beats of Rage:

Beats of Rage is a free, fully functional game, which includes music, and features six playable levels plus a bonus level. It is available for many systems, including PC, Dreamcast, Playstation 2, Xbox, GP32, and Palmtop

Wow, from the images this looks a really cool game, though I won't be testing it out till the morning. I may even give it a write up in the game discussion forums as it looks well worth it. Thank you Blaise

Hi ya'll....this is not my kind of game so didn't download, but I remember someone liked the look of "Glyph" on the side panel last time this was offered. I paid for Glyph and enjoyed it very much....but then found you can get it free at http://www.mostfungames.com Give it a try, I think you'll like it.

It's quite fun, but I'll eventually uninstall it since with the size it isn't worth it since there's more games like these online or even lesser space needed. It's a hack and slash game is what I found out, blood splattering everywhere...Fun if your bored as hell, but otherwise it's okay.

Gosh, look at all of these complaints! I downloaded it and played a bit. At least this game was different from all those other puzzle games that keep being offered... In this game, I like how the zombies splatters blood everywhere and you can even use their decapitated heads as a weapon AND a projectile! It's also fun watching the zombies bounce off each other. Unfortunately, this game runs too slowly... It reminds me of the slowness of the first Double Dragons title. The enemies are also very repetitive and the mindless A.I could use some tweaking to give the player a little more action.

Sounds great from the comments. Have downloaded & installed, but how to I start the actual game. I start the game & get the main page & music, but cannot see how to start the game itself. Is it's the "OK" between where the 2 players are?, this doesn't seem to work? I know this should be obvious, but what do I do???

Thanks

Thanks for the game, but this one is just not for me. After about 45 minutes to download and about 7 minutes to install, in the end I just didn't enjoy the game itself. Other than a extreme download time, this game worked fine on my Windows XP. Thanks - be back tomorrow!

Well, if a comment is ever gonna get edited or deleted from here, this is the one!

The Game downloaded and installed fine on the kids Windows ME machine. slightly amused to see no shortcut. But, the graphics are screwy for me. It is like there are no transparencies on any of Characters individual Parts! I get bits of character blocked out by Background "Black" of each arm and/or leg. Annoying as hell.

I really thought that this was doomed for the Bin, until I started to search though the game files to see if I could separate out the Great music for my collection. lo and behold I find that none of the music or graphics are locked up!

(Mind starts racing)

Although this is coming off the kids comp, it is going right on my XP machine. Sooner or later, this game will no longer be ZX2, but end up as either (eventually both) KISS Zombie smasher and/or the Misfits Zombie smasher, complete with group soundtracks.

And No I will not give or sell copies to anybody so DON"T ASK!!!!!

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!!

I would have been interested in trying this game out but, it will take me over 24 hours to download it and I won't be able to activate it by that time. There is no high speed connection available to me where I am at, at all so...I guess I will pass on this one. It's huge! I have gotten lots of other great games free for my kids so I'm not complaining =). Thanks!

this is a rip off of river city ransom, dubbed "the best game of all time" by some. i played zombie smashers x2 (it pains me to write out the complete name) and felt it not only failed to do the original justice, but fails as a game in general.
you can edit the text files and make your characters as strong as you want (encryption = notsomuch), the dialog is pre-pubescent at best, the controls are sticky, and the music sounds like the waste my best friend and i played in high school to get girls to like us... only worse.

in short, i give this game a 2. out of what you may ask? who cares? 2 is never a good score. don't waste your time with this one.

i recommend instead (mind you this is 100% FREE):
beats of rage
if you can't figure out how to find it and play it, you don't deserve to play a real video game anyway.

To think, I was going to buy this game a week ago, it's a good thing I don't jump into purchases, otherwise I would have missed this.

This is one of the best side scrolling action games for any platform. It has all the features you would expect from such a game but with an RPGesque element where you buy food items to increase skills and heal and buy tattoos to add fighting moves. The best part are the combos and effects of attacks. Because you can make enemies bounce, it gives you a chance to do extra attacks while the enemies are in the air. So, if you send a zombie flying away with a hit of a wrench and if you're fast enough you can follow up with a throw of the wrench, which will bounce off the zombie back to you so you can pick it up in a second and be armed again. Going by memory, it's controls are pretty responsive, much better than Zombie Smashers X1's controls which wouldn't let you turn if you were attacking. The graphics are better too, they aren't photorealistic 3D or anything like that, just 2D toonish stuff but it fits the style just right and would be just as good with the ZSX1 graphics, although it's nice to have realistically long legs. In the first few missions you fight zombies and ninjas but I'm pretty sure there are more types of undead later on, if ZSX1 is anything to go buy.

Download it now!

Looks very interesting and different from the match 3 ect that everyone is always complaining about. Personally I wish every download here was over 500 mb. Then we'd be able to get some quality stuff for free and those people with nothing better to do than complain about how they are still living in the dark ages on dial up and nobody caters to their every whim would go away. Of course that is just a personal fantasy. Some people have lives that are so wretched and dark that always complaining is what they do to make themsleves feel better. And then they wonder why no one likes to be around them and they spend all their time in chat rooms on dial up pretending to be someone they are not.

Thanks giveaway team for trying to cater to the whiners because the squeaky wheel gets the grease but understand there are a vast majority of us quiet users out here who really appreciate what your doing and wish you'd leave behind the loud minority of dial up users and "I hate match 3 game" criers and just keep doing what your doing.

I've finally posted my short review over in the forums. I scored it a reasonable 7 out of 10 which was for game play. Don't let the retro look or the file size put you off downloading this game. It's one of those that you'll either love or hate, so I'd follow some of the links I've provided that give some decent reviews of this game as well as a good selection of in game images, (my screen captures are mainly of the menu). It's one of those game you just can't write a review for in just a few hours as there's more to it than meets the eye. I personally like the game, though it doesn't grab me big time.

http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/topic/2584?replies=1#post-17214

I've provided a link at the bottom of the review that will enable you to return to this comments section

Ac0uA’s suggestion (comment #17) is a good idea as the music takes up about 50% of the download were getting. You can add as much music as you like into one of four folders that you’ll find in the tracks folder.

It’s a pity the game didn’t come with a separate activation module, or that Merscom separated out the music and had it as a separate download for those who wanted the music. Most of it in my opinion is dross anyway (my opinion only), though there is some of it I like and will be transferring over to my music folders.
