That is such a wonderful resource that you are offering and you give it away totally free. I honestly like discovering weblogs that comprehend the value of delivering a valuable resource for free of charge. I truly loved reading through your post :-) Thanks!

This may not be to my or a lot of other people's tastes, but it just shows how stupid some people on here actually are. This game is NOT free if you go to the site and download it. It is a 15 day trial at the developer's website. If you can't post facts, spare us your nonsense, I am addressing #22 and #36 specifically with this comment.

A wide variety of games is appreciated here, some should be aimed at children, others at adults, and so on. Those who expect some kind of action game every day are much too self-centred and never consider anyone else besides themselves obviously.

I would however like to suggest GGotD maybe take a brief look at the game quality and see how it is before posting it. Today's offering is not a real quality game unfortunately.

"FreeGamesArea"? That's the new new name for DoubleGames? I did visit the FreeGamesArea website and they proudly announce that this is a free game. They many "free" games listed there. But nowhere on their site did I find a statement that it was "free" trialware.

Well, of course, I doubted that GGAOTD would have been so easily duped by this partner so I tested one of their games. Gee surprise, it's a trialware site--*free to try, limited time*. ho hum.

If it looks like a DoubleGames and smells like a DoubleGames, what does it matter what you call it? I have just added this new company to my boycott list.

Another test post to see if my email has been blocked, although I don't know why it would be. I don't think I have said anything block-worthy!

I love word games, and we haven't had one since cactus words about a month ago, so that is a huge plus. I'd love to see more on the site.

This one is frustrating though as it doesn't actually recognize words. I have a 4 year old who is just beginning to read / spell and I thought this kind of game would be great for her. But quite the opposite; when the game refused to accept her (correct) spelling of simple, common words she thought she was misspelling them and grew upset. So thumbs down for that.

Based on the name of the developer, is this a free game just presented as a game giveaway? I am wondering if GGOTD has been having trouble connecting with good quality vendors lately. I love the site and I love the concept. I definitely benefit from the offers and assume developers would too. But it does seem there have been a lot of cheap / low quality or already free offers lately, unlike earlier days. Good luck to GGoTD, thank you, and I hope you can find some better connections soon. It's a great cause.

GAOTD...we probably wouldn't mind some repeats of some of the most popular games if the vendor was happy with its experience on the site. Or a redo for those that were hard to download or had significant comments that might have influenced the development of the game, ie. "now see how the game is after we incorporated your suggestions...".

It seems like you guys catch major grief with some of the games, and I imagine it is hard to find enough vendors who want to give you a new game. Just my suggestions since people get so upset that you are "forcing" them to take these free games they don't like! :)

I love word games, but I will pass on this from hearing about the dictionary problems. I do like to get childrens' games on this site too, because I have four siblings under age 13 and their attention span is short for one game!

Do we have to get on our knees and beg GAOTD? We are sick of these poorly made games. I dont need super awesome graphics and intense game play all the time, but come on, it doesnt recognize some simple and common 3 and 4 letter words! Im all for variety but not this useless garbage from these lousy developers. Please find some other companies.
By the way, Merscom was a great find :)

This software has two problems: the database is childish, and a pain to update. It would have been better if the programmer had provided a separate dictionary file for updating.
Also, the program is crippleware, which is more serious. GGOFTD, crippleware is a dime a dozen in the net and no big deal. Please check to see the program is fully registered before you claim so!.
Anyway, thanks for your efforts, which is very good most of the times.

It seems that some people don't know or care that there are lots of different tastes in games; not all of us want shoot 'em up or action games(which there have been lots of lately)
I was so happy to see a word game as there have been very few; but after reading the astute and helpful comments here, I won't be downloading it.
Thanks very much anyway, GGOTD!
I'll check in tomorrow!

When I first discovered GGOTD I thought it was great. I still have a few games that I play and enjoy nearly every day. But, lately, the giveaways have been pretty lame. Not that I'm complaining of being offered something for nothing...but it is discouraging to see that games and applications are now worth every penny that is being asked. Is GAOTD just becoming another dumping ground for obscure and crappy programs?

atrocious word list!!!

AND, it is already a FREE GAME with/o the intervention of THIS site!!!

ANOTHER example of the worthlessness of 90% of the offerings presented on this site!

c'mon, guys, make a little EFFORT to present a product that folks will actually WANT and USE, rather than these semi-developed beta versions of lame programming. even if you cam only find i worthy program a WEEK, it would be MASSIVELY more rewarding than the futility of visiting this site over and over only to find this dreck!

Why does someone called FreeGamesArea.com sell their games at $14.95, either get a new name or live by it!

I was excited to see this game offered today for my kids and for some of my students needing motivation to practice spelling, but I will pass. Children under 8 yrs old begin to spell using these "common words" so I am not going to frustrate them by getting a game that needs additional input of basic dictionary words. I am not too lazy to do it, just too busy to sit down and keep a list. I would love to have a game like this but one with a better word base. Thanks.

Honestly, the lack of words really do make this game bad. While It may be easy to add words, who has the time to add words? I loved other games like this, because I could find new words. I can't even find the same, everyday words here with this game!

If Doublegames really did form another company, I would bet this developer would be it.

This is basically Cactus Words given away on the 26th June, only the graphics are different. The same problem with speed, that is the lines scroll upwards too fast. If you time them, it's exactly the same. Double Games seem to have formed another distribution company, lol.

Check out the following comments from the previous giveaway:

9, 18, 22, 28, 31, 44, 53, 59, 26

http://game.giveawayoftheday.com/cactus-words/#comments

Thanks for the effort though. There will have been those who missed this giveaway the first time around. Personally I prefer the Cactus graphics to this one. I do hope the developer is not trying to sell both games as different games as i would say that that is dishonest. there are always some people who may be 'conned' by the ruse (if that's what it is.

Thank you Game giveaway for your continued presence

Unfortunately, the makers of this game are no more literate than their robots. Yet another "word game" that doesn't recognize many common words. Sure, you can add them to the dictionary, but that shouldn't be the responsibility of someone who is asked to pay $15 for this sad excuse for a game.
For those who claim "my kids will love it" - what's to love when they type in a word they think they're familiar with, only to be told it isn't a word at all?
Another chance given, another chance blown. Another slapped-together-to-make-a-quick-buck piece of garbage from the DoubleGames family tree.

Robowords, Cactus Words ( http://game.giveawayoftheday.com/cactus-words/#comments ) there is not much difference and both from DoubleGames, or DG by another name.

Cactus Words is an almost identical game, so just check the above link for comments. I have edited my same comments from that game for this one:

GENERAL: It’s a word game, and there have not been too many offered. That’s a plus for it. That’s why I thought I’d try it.
.
BACKGROUND MUSIC: Pretty boring, but there were controls to turn it down or off. Same for “action” noises.

GRAPHICS: Nothing special; acceptable 2D stuff; childish.

GAME PLAY: Even after reading the minimal instructions, it took me a minute to figure out what was going on. The game and I disagreed on the acceptability of numerous words. The game had no CLUE. That is to say, it did not recognize "clue" as a correct word. I believe it is in Options, where you can add your own words, but who has time to type in a dictionary for a game whose programmers are too lazy?

My frustration was compounded by the fact that the game was just going too fast for me, and I was playing at the slowest speed! OK - I'm not the fastest at this type of game, but I generally do OK on similar, better made games.

If you enter an unacceptable or misspelled word, you get an audible warning, but cannot edit the word if you are playing by mouse. Even if only the last letter is wrong, you have to clear the entire word and start over. Frustration level increasing again. . .

KEYBOARD PLAY is available and is generally a bit easier and plays faster. You can use Backspace, for instance, to delete letters from the end of the word you are building and Enter to enter a word. However, you cannot specifically select "gold" letters, which have a higher score. Keyboard picks for you.

Can’t say this was an enjoyable experience for me because I could not pick out and input words fast enough to get very far and because the game ignored too many correct words. Give me another match-3 game or Glyph from Merscome.

Thought it was nice that you can just type the letters to make words, however some very common words didn't register as being valid. Words like 'six' or 'fox' should be in the dictionary. didn't even try to add them in the options screen because I would think that common words like this should have been thought of by the developers. I don't want to buy a game just to end up doing their work for them.

A cute, simple little game. Some very common words were not in the dictionary (such as "gift"), but they can be easily added right as you're playing. Thanks GGOTD :)

terrible gameplay, clicking to select letters isnt fast enough to select more than about 1 letter a second. The word list was mediocre (i had to add zoo, quo , gym , roe , hick and pith within about 5 mins. i suppose it could only have been worse if it had a 143mb mp3 folder _and_ was made by doublegames. score - 2 out of 10

Finally a word game, but its dictionary is so lacking that playing is an exercise in frustration. One can add words to the dictionary, but without being able to easily get to the word list to add scores of words at a time, the process of increasing the game's vocabulary is sure to be laborious. I don't think I will end up keeping this game, even though I do like the "Collapse" style play involved.

Sometimes it's better to just make a game without a story. If the copy were any worse, I'd wonder if the authors/publishers were absolutely illiterate.

Very poor word list (junk for example wasn't allowed). It's also not a "Free" game but a 15 day or 15 play limited game. I'll pass.
