And #51 Astro gemini commented on the review they got and I will paste it into here. They said:
"We were truly shocked to find this information.

We only send out one newsletter once a week at most and we never sold (and never will) our database to 3d parties. We are a legitimate business and care about our reputation and practices and would never do something that would put that at risk.
Selling top-quality animated 3D screensavers is what we do best and that is how we make money. Your information correctly confirms that our downloads are 100% free of any adware or spyware because that is another avenue we would never go down due to the same reasons above.

We ourselves get exactly the same spam e-mails that arrived into your mailbox on Viagra and Best Replica Watches, etc. That is a universal problem and we have nothing to do with that. In fact we ourselves suffer as much from that as anybody else because our own mailboxes are filled with the same spam and important business messages are lost.

We are currently doing a thorough investigation to confirm that there is no e-mail address leakage from our databases and we will soon have results that will be posted here."

not that nice screensavers are not appreciated by me, but i actualy though i had gone to the wrong URL today and was at http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/ and not
http://game.giveawayoftheday.com/ .

i even save the screensavers i download in a directory called "utils\desktop\screensavers" .

sadly i give this a thumbs down simply because i call this a util and not a game, and at this site it is my opinion i should rate game playability/game quality and this has none of those.

but anyway, nice screensaver...

This is not a screensaver, but this will let you `go where no one has gone before`. (freeware) And you will actually learn something:

From a purely programming point of view, a game is also an application. Heck, if a game appeared on the non-game version of Giveaway of the Day, what would people say? Looking the other way, if you really wanted to split hairs, to a programmer, making an application can be a game.

I can't even begin to think how those who maintain this site are able to provide a free download every day.

This is a nice free screensaver. If you were a designer and made a hi-resolution version of this screensaver that did a true-to-life zoom-in on Earth, you wouldn't dare to make it free...

I would not mind it being a screensaver if it wasn't just the trial version. That makes it kind of pointless.

Thank you for the screensaver, was a bit disappointed along with the other game-seekers, but figured I'd give it a try anyway. The graphics are kind of cool, nice mist on the planet. But the music is definitely lacking. There should be different music to choose from. And the clock is blocky, and unattractive. If you are to give away another screensaver, the fish ones are a nice classic, and it seems every time someone has a freeware version, it's infused w/spyware.

Yes, this is the comments section, and anyone can post. However, rudeness and sarcasm are not constructive criticism. I see nothing wrong with mixing things up once in a while! Variety is the spice of life! Perhaps they did it just to get an extra rise out of those who complain everyday! Wanna complain about the games?--HERE, TAKE THIS!! LOL!! It also apparently distracted the I posted 1st club too!! Anyhow, keep it up GOTD!! We love your work! It may be a love/hate relationship for some, but they're all coming everyday!!

This is a nice web site to look forward to checking each day. I have enjoyed it. Could you please put on some games that are like aqua zone where you have to feed and maintain fish or animals each day. And some word games that are not so child like, like book worm.
Thanks GOTD

Regarding everyone who is flipping out because of the negativity. It's called constructive criticism. If the only comments were positive, they would have no idea how to please everyone and would lose visitors. I agree with everyone that a screensaver doesn't belong here and hopefully, they will take the responses into consideration for next time.

#35 did you read the instructions?
You need to activate it!
I always ACTIVATE first THEN install the program and I've never had that problem.
Also sometimes closing the program and restarting it will help.

This is a pretty cool screen saver, though I liked the Winter one that was given away better.

It's nice to have a break from the same type of games that everyone was complaining about yesterday. I guess though there will always be complainers no matter what you do!

Hey! It's not a game!!! (just kidding ;) )
Very nice screensaver! I also have the 3D Christmas Eve saver from Astro Gemini & GOTD and it's great too. No trouble running and exits in less than a half second. Those having problems with this saver might need updated video cards or drivers. If you can't do that then play around with the options (in the screen saver itself, not the Astro Gemini Manager) and see if it runs better.

If it's not registered (probably because you didn't follow directions and activate before install) go into Control Panel and select a completely different screen saver, don't choose either this saver OR the Astro Gemini Manager, hit OK to save the change in Control Panel. Then make sure your internet connection is open and try activating. Go back to Control Panel and select the Astro Gemini saver and it should be registered fine.

Re #34 Alec:
You're confused about what exactly constitutes adware and spyware. The Astro Gemini screen saver manager is not adware. It's there in case you have their other screen savers so you can rotate them automatically and it works with other brands of screensavers, not just theirs. The fact that you CAN delete it and still run the screen saver proves it's not adware or spyware. True adware/spyware hooks itself into the program it comes with, and the program won't run without it.

The worst kinds of adware or spyware have hidden files that reinstall the bad app if you try to manually delete, the Astro Gemini Manager doesn't do that either. Also it's pretty common for shareware authors to include pointers to their sites showing their other software, and even common to create icons for those. Those icons and the files connected to them can also be easily deleted.

True adware monitors your web surfing habits and sends you targeted popups, and as mentioned previously will reinstall itself if you delete. True spyware monitors either your web surfing habits and/or the contents of your hard drive and hijacks your internet connection to report back to an outside site. The Astro Gemini screensaver Manger or the pointers to their site do not fit either of those categories.

Re #37 Semicolon:
"falsifies the name of the site"? Give it a rest! Oh, and private entities (such as this web site) are not bound by the free speech clause in the U.S. Constitution.

I usually do not leave messages, and I felt complelled to do so this time only because reading the others left over some time makes me wonder what kind of immature adults post on this forum? I know you folks do this partly as a promotion, and I think it works real well, I bought two software programs already. Not only is it a great promotion idea, the viewers get a great opportunity to get some cool free stuff. And yet you try to introduce something new instead of a game and people freak out! "Is this a game?" No idiot, it's a picture of a small boat out in the middle of a endless ocean, and it's people like you that are slowly sinking it! Keep up the dedication guys, it's working in your favor.

I absolutely love this site and appreciate the opportunity to download programs and games. I don't download them every day, just the ones that I prefer. Attention to the people who are complaining: Stop. You're dumb. This site is free. Get it? FREE. It doesn't get any better than this.

I love the screensaver and I definitely vote to have more of them in the future. (Maybe a free screensaver of the day???) Whether they are put in games or software is of no consequence.

Thank you GAOTD team. You rule.

I really can't understand the people that "can't understand the negativity" or giving smart comments like "if you don't like it don't install it".

I don't have a problem with the screen saver, i usually don't download the games anyway. But other people do, and when they come to "Game GOTD", it might come as a surprise to some of you, they are looking for games! If they don't get it they have the right to complain. After all this is called "Comments", not "Say how much you love the programs we give, if you don't like it just shut up".

Anyway, since this is the first comment I'm writing, just a big thanks to the GOTD team for the work you are doing :)

Yes #33, let's not allow anyone to have their honest opinion and make sure free speech is not tolerated anywhere!

As for this, it falsifies the name of the site. No real point in having it. And outside of this site, what person in their right mind would BUY a SCREENSAVER?

I am extremely disappointed in GOTD. I believed that the software they gave away did not include spyware or adware. This download does not just install a screensaver. The download also installs the Astro Gemini Screensaver manager and tons of ads for other screensavers you can purchase through Astro Gemini. Fortunately it is possible to uninstall the screensaver manager and just keep the screensaver, but the point is that the descriptions on the GOTD and GGOTD websites should state exactly what software gets installed if they want us to trust them.

Why all the negativity - if you don't want it or just don't like it... don't comment - if it is constructive criticism then it is all good but comments like "lame" and "Screensaver’s not a game… I guess I’ll come back tomorrow" - who needs that.

remember that GotD programs are FREE.

Never read so many whining complaints in one place. It's a screensaver, so what? If you don't like it, don't install it. Works for me, a bit choppy, but hey, it's a screensaver.....yeesh! I especially like the Milky Way in the background, gives it a feeling of depth...All in all, it's a pretty good software...hope to see the Lighhouse Screensaver on here soon.

Thank you for the cool screensaver. I have no problem with it not being a game -- unlike many of the comments so far. But, you just can't please all the people all the time!! It's rather disheartening to see so much negativity and lack of appreciation for something that is given away free. It's like the saying, "today's favor is tomorrow's demand."

I would have preferred a screensaver creator app in the application section but "it's free".
As far as screensavers go though this one though pretty could have been more customizable. So my advice if you want a screensaver for the month or to make your kids go oooh, download it. Other than that hold out till tomorrow and hope we get a game download.
