Sucks when the capital ships get above you. There's nothing to do but sit there and take the damage until they go past or until they come back into range. Other than that it was a nice diversion.

Installed and ran fine on windows XP SP3 on the menu under options you can select mouse sensitivity and I ended up setting it at either 1 or 0 but settings seem to work much better than the default. Not to bad a game doubt if I would pay for it though if that was my only option to get this game. Not to bad for a bit of mindless destruction to help relieve stress. All in all thanks GOTD. If I could make a suggestion would like to seea good RPG if possible? (not online type though)

It took me over 12 hours and over 20 attempts at various times through the day to finally get the game downloaded. I don’t have time to write a full review now as I’m going out very soon to sample the delights of Orlando’s many theme parks. :)

When installed Orbital destruction unpacks to 142Mb and by default will install to:

C:\Games\OrbitalDestruction

There is no shortcut created during the installation process, but you can easily create one once the game has been installed. This is another space turret game from Hand Made Games (not dissimilar to Star Warriors 2: Defender, given away last year) and after playing it for about half an hour I was quite impressed. The graphics are a big improvement over previous hand made games and the game play has also improved.

If you like space orientated shooters then you’ll like this space turret shooter. There are 20 missions to work through, each successive mission getting longer and harder to win, well that’s if you forget to use your shield, lol.

The game is controlled by the mouse and you can select from six different weapons that include missiles, gravity guns as well as plasma and pulse weapons. Once you’ve acquired the appropriate weapon you can access it via the numbers 1 to 6 or change them via the middle mouse button. Firing your weapon by the Left Mouse Button and using your defence shield via the Right mouse button.

You are attacked by waves of fighters and then battleships; the latter are much harder to destroy. Some destroyed fighters leave bonuses behind which you must shoot to gain. These contain weapon upgrades, extra energy slow downs etc. At the end of each mission you will see your mission stats which are always available to see via the mission selection screen, which will be visible once you’ve completed your first mission. Progress is saved and you can replay any mission that you’ve played previously.

Conclusion

Overall I like this game and will be keeping it. I wouldn’t say it’s the best space shooter I’ve ever played, but it’s a big improvement on previous games from this developer and I would happily give it a score of 7 out of 10. It’s not a game I’d play for more than a few levels at a time otherwise I reckon I’d get quickly bored of the repetitious game play, but that said I do still like the game. I do think most community members will be impressed by the overall look of this game. You can change the music if you don’t like it. The music format is MP3 so you should be able to make a straight swap, though I think you’ll need to rename the music you decide to use to the same names that are in the music folder, which can be found in the Nitro folder within the games main folder.

Hopefully I'll be back to my usual reviews soon. :)

Pretty fun. I wish there were screen shots posted but it is a pretty simple space turret gunner game. I love that you have to lead the enemy and use your tracers as you would a real gun. Not a bad "passtime" game.

the game install easy and defaulted to c;games, you HAVE to go to that folder and click on OD.exe to play the game, you can allways right click on that OD.exe tab and save it to your desk top to play it again. I had to go to my mouse settings and slow it down to play it better, if not, the mouse control is to fast and uncontrolable, vista, 32 bit it is a cool game, thanks for the free game today
