Thanks for this type of game, realy enjoy them. I had no problem whatsoever downloading and installing; I DID read the install instructions where it said it did not put up that icon thingy.
I have had some great fun with the translations, being bilingual myself, but some words were a bit bizarre...LOL...no offence, just funny. And, yes, sometimes the objects are UNDERNEATH the timer clock and/or map and hint icons, but if you perservere, you'll get there. MY daughter has finished the game, without having to retsart, and she enjoyed it. I've had to restart a few times, couldn't find the objects. Now, if you go to OPYIONS, and click on HINTS, taking it away, you can continue to play even though the time runs out; you just don't have anymore hints.
enjoy the game, it's cool..
Thanks GAOTD!

Hi Janie,
Unfortunately if you didn't activate the program on the day, which I presume you wouldn't have because you said your wizip wasn't working, then the giveaway period has ended. You must activate any giveaway within a specific 24 hour period, which in the UK starts at 8am GMT, US Eastern Time it will be 3am and US Mountin Time it will be 1am.

Sorry you missed last Sundays game. It was well worth having. :)

Laurie. You could try downloading the version from Goldcasualgames and reinstalling it. The registration shouldn't be affected unless you use the undlete file found within the games folder. Though if you try this I'd ensure that you install the game to a different place on your hard drive, so that of it doesn't work, you still have the original to play with. (that's if you can still progress)

I downloaded the game Golden Prague this past week-0end everything I was suppose to do it even said I was basically ready to unzip and my win zip didn't work. It even sent me to the website GAOTD . Now that I have my winzip fixed it said that the give away had ended..... What happened??? Thanks Janie

I love this game so much, I became quickly addicted! However, I can't save my progress. When I close the game, I don't exactly go back to the very beginning when I play it again, but pretty near. I have achieved many levels and don't get to go back to that when I re-open it. Also, for some reason, when I have gotten very far into the game, it suddenly quits. I get a Windows error message saying that the game has stopped working and has to close. Then when I go to play again, I go back many levels and it is so frustrating! Can anybody help me with this? I would appreciate it so much. Thank you.

Had a whole lot of problems getting past the 'Runtime Error" that lots of folks seem to be getting. Installed, uninstalled a couple of times and updated everything. Nothing worked. Finally tried the simplest method that someone earlier mentioned....

Reboot Computer

Played fine after that. Except after playing a while if I leave the game and come back to it later I get the "Runtime Error" again.

Simply Reboot Computer and the game plays again. Having no other issues so far.

I'm running XP Pro SP2

Thanks to everyone for all their suggestions and a special thanks to the person who suggested rebooting and the person who posted about the trainer.....it works beautifully.

I love games like this when they come along!

A suggestion, though, not quite a criticism, is that I would like to see some information about the pictures that we see.

From the pictures, Prague is a obviously a city of beauty and history, but not a lot of people know that much about it. Perhaps a paragraph or so of nice-to-know trivia would be welcome to many players. The game, "San Francisco Chronicles" would be a good example of this. The player can read the little history of the section after completing a level, or ignore the text if they don't care.

Okay, I sorted it out - you have 30 minutes spread out over all the puzzles in the "day", so if you take 3 minutes on the first puzzle, you only have 27 minutes for the next, then if you take 17 minutes on that one, you only get 10 minutes on the third puzzle. Makes sense. And the level I had meant up there in my last comment was level 6 not level 7.

Thumbs up on the game now that I got it sorted out what the timer is up to and that start-over is not from start of game, but start of that day. This one is a keeper for me, and I'd like to see more like it. Thanks GGAOTD and Goldcasualgames.

lightwright, I posted a link to the trainer above, but here it is again for you. It works a treat. Once installed you click on the trainer icon before you start the game up. Once the game has started you use F1 to activate the time freeze. Though it doesn't stop you losing 2 minutes if you use a hint:

Freeze time trainer:

http://www.gamershell.com/download_30068.shtml

I have to agree with Fuzzy on this with respect to the time freeze, I think I'd have scrapped the game if it hadn't been for that due to havig to constantly restart from the beginning of a day.

Hi Mem, at ,least you got it working in the end. Get the trainer to, it's a must have for this game. :)

regards

Stephen

Well, I am getting the same error as everyone else on my Win XP SP3 system.

I tried the following with no success:

o Installing current version of flash
o Installing latest version of DirectX 9.0c
o Change the screen resolution to 800x600 and 1024x768
o Edited the scripts/game.xml to put the game in to windowed mode
o Turning off my on-access virus scanner (AVAST!)

As a last effort I did the following:

o Rebooting Win XP

And now the game works!!

I hope it will continue to work in the future without rebooting, but based on the messages here it looks like it might not.

Been playing it and have to ask - anyone else get to level 7 and only have like 16 seconds to find all the silhouette items?? (about 8 of them) What's up with that? I was really enjoying it until that impossible level hit. even pausing game to find items then unpause to click them I only managed 2 items before the timer ran out and I was sent back to level 1. Very disappointing. Trying again, but if that happens a second time, I'm unloading the game and giving thumbs down here.

Installed on XP SP2 with no problems. A refreshing change! A little frustrating, however, having to start back at square one. Would be better if, like many games, it let you try again where you left off. Does someone possibly have a link for the trainer? I'd like to download it. All in all, though, a great weekend! Two keepers! Thanks!

I forgot to mention before (#138) that I'd installed on XP SP3. After those first four crashes it's still working fine & I haven't crashed again (knock on wood). I also installed it on a laptop with Vista Home Premium 64 SP1 and have had no problems at all there.

I haven't verified this, but I think the time thing carries from one level to the next through that day. You start with 24 minutes (representing an hour each) and you have that long to do the whole day.

Concerning the time freeze trainer that #23 and WhiteRabbit mentioned;
the following link will take you there;
http://gamyy.com/english/games/1816.htm

It works great and allows you to have fun with the game, if you can't get through in the alloted time. Just run the little program first and then start the game. When the first level starts hit F1 and the time will freeze. It appears to still take off 2 minutes for hints though.

Thanks for the tip #23.

Downloaded and installed with no problems. The game runs well (XP SP2), and the only issue I have is that if a level is not completed in time, it takes the player back to the beginning, with different objects. I find that to be very annoying. Other than that, I really enjoy this game, and am very happy to see a hidden object game here. Thank you for all the great games, and I'm looking forward to what next weekend will bring!

I too have downloaded three times and keep getting the runtime error. I have XP and this is the first game I have ever had difficulty loading, perhaps the culprit is the new service pack 3??
Tried the "tips" but no luck. Seems like a great game, perhaps when it is fixed it will be offered again... Thanks GGOTD!

Why does the game keep sending you back to the first level of the day instead of just having you repeat the level you failed. I agree with the comment that the times assigned to complete a level are not realistic. 20 minutes for some and 3 minutes for others.

Works fine for me in Vista Home Premium.

Some of the names of objects can mean different things (like mouse) and change through the game or are obscure but that just means you may learn something new. It would be even more interesting if items changed their locations from game to game but it is fine as is. The cursor may be off a little but I haven't had a problem with it yet.

Some items do blend in with the background but to me that's part of the fun.

The rooms are chock full of objects so it does have plenty of replay value. It gives a score after each scene but I haven't seen a high score list anywhere in it yet.

I did have to turn my brightness up to see some of the items in the shadows. I like to keep the brightness on my monitor to where black is black (no light coming through).

I do like this game and am definately keeping it but only time will tell if it has good replay value.

I really wish I could get this to work, but I have been trying on and off since this morning...followed the advice given to Anivalona and thought I finally got it...now all I get is the opening game screen with the title and picture, but that is as far as it goes....it just sits there.

I always, always read the first 40 or 50 comments, if not all, to check for proper installation tips and so far I have never had a problem....it figures that the one download I really want, gives me problems...

But thanks anyway! I love this site. I get the email reminders and it is one of the first things I do in the morning...right after I pour the first cup of coffee, of course.

I downloaded the updated shockwave 11 and finally got this game started. The 'find' object lists are shorter than I am use to, but names of object are misleading or not as described. Also, when you are out-of-time and have not completed the day (8 levels long), you have to start the level completely over again - from day one of that level = very frustrating, indeed!

Also, this game seems to stop/freese/discontinue for no reason that I can find, other than it is still in the 'very early trial-phase'. Also, when you quit the game, it may not really 'save' your game and make you restrt the game from the beginning.

No, I would not purchase this game and am thankful to GGAOTD for allowing me to give it a try before wasting my money! This game has much to advance before competing in today's 'HOG' market.

Thank you GAOTD and Goldcasualgames for a great game! Installed and ran with absolutely no problem.

I had to do a couple levels more than once or twice (especially level 6 - whew a killer) but I loved that it was not just find the hidden objects but also find the differences between the pictures (I love them both)

I appreciate the game and will visit your site to see your other exciting games.

10 out of 10 for me!

It crashed from the slash screen with a runtime error the first four times I tried, but ran fine on the fifth try. I had to quit for supper before finishing the first chapter, so I don't know how it's behaving beyond that.

It is a fun game once you can get it to run.

@Whiterabbit # 127 - I checked for Mysterious City and Golden Prague right away, but honestly there was no sign of the game apart from the initial download which I extracted from. The problem only arose after reading the readme and pressing setup. The wee box appeared telling me to unzip to c:games. I dutifully did this. Unpacked 2167? files. Checked c:games, nothing. Tried this all day, nothing. Then when I was really peeed off I told it to unpack to the desktop, ta da!! there was the game. Fully functioning.

I download from here several times a week and every weekend (I just never comment)and never have problems until last night I had some weird screen opening up after I shut down the game and then this today. However the problem has gone now and the game is really good and I have no bother playing it - except maybe in the skill department!!

Thanks for taking the time to think about this. I read the forums everyday (long time lurker!) and see how many problems you have and am grateful for the time you spend with other folk's troubles, questions etc.

Keep smiling.

Finally a game that we can all play. But still there are the knockers. :)

I did have technical error. Something or other about not being able to unzip, but just pressed okay and reloaded from a "saved file" and it went okay. Try and save the file to your computer not just 'run'.

Now to try and get pass Level 6.......off to play some more. LOL.

And y'all realize that this is a game and not a promotional video for the country itself right? Of course it's not going to be exactly like what is says. Sheesh lighten up a bit, it's only a free game :-)

I've had a lot of problems with this game. It took twice to install before I could even get it to open. It has a very Win95 look to the installation. Now it keeps crashing. I'm at about level 25 or so, I don't remember, but it won't go any further. Very annoying.

Hey Skyehook thanks. b.t.w. I think this game is free standing, which means you can save it to a CD if you wish. As for the You Tube vids. I've had the software for quite some time, just not the inspiration to try it. As it was, it was a lot easier than I imagined. Hopefully it will get me interested in converting all my old analogue video tapes so that I can save them to disc. I've really neglected the video side of computing until now. :)

Mem comment #106 when you checked for the game did you look for Mysterious City? If so you'll find it actually installs as Golden Prague

Have a great week folks.
