I found the game boring. Would try to get the same robots but nope, time's up. Too much like two other games, one the butterfly catcher. Would like something like Burger Rush" or "Mystic Inn".

It's the "doublegames fishing engine" but this is done a bit better than the rest, if you need one from the collection to keep, I'd pick this then bin the rest you had installed..

I must say I created stuff like this with ease using Klik & Play (game creation tool that was the precursor to Gamesfactory) back in 1996.

Klik n play is now Freeware too which is rather cool.

In addition to the numerous problems mentioned, ut also has the tendency to go back and forth along the top, but the line wouldn't go down to catch things - the only way I could get it running again was to restart it. It was a pretty game to look at, though.

On to better things - As I mentioned yesterday (very late in the game!): Any chance we might get Peggle Deluxe? This is really a great game - Like "Plinko" (on the TV show Truth or Consequences) on steroids! I noticed on the site yesterday there was a huge section of games that were full versions for free and it is included, but for some reason, I can't get them through my firewall - so I would love to see it here. (I'll come back with the link to the free ones if I can find it again - It includes "Super Collapse 3" and a bunch of good ones.) So please consider bringing it here.

Thanks GGOTD Team for all that you bring us.

PS Here is that link - they are trials, but not time limited:

@ #10:
Yes, I'm aware of how stores work thank you. but there is a difference between being an actual publisher (Such as bigfish games is to virtual villagers), and hoarding every peice of software you can find and selling it in a slightly different package. Had you taken the time do actually do any research about the games that Double Games "Publishes", you would see that they are in fact NOT the publishers of a lot of the games. Again back to virtual villagers, it's created by "Last Day of Work", and published by "Big Fish Games". It even says so in the splash screen for the game. If double games WERE an official publisher they would have their company in the splash screen, as it would not be hard to make a new splash screen for an official publisher.

Maybe next time instead of writing out your little anecdote you'll do a little research on the topic at hand.

Ok Carnivalborn and everyone else like him, PLEASE. The software for one is NOT FREE. It is only free for a period of 24 hours on this website ONLY. Otherwise most titles range from $9.99 to $30!! And secondly, why in the hell does it bother you people so much? The concept is not "don't like it, don't download", you people obviously have the most minimal observational skills. A lot of these games are presented to us without descriptions or screenshots, so please, don't say mindless things like "don't like it don't download it". How about this "don't like reading people's comments, DON'T READ THEM AND DON'T POST MINDLESS FOLLOWUP COMMENTS THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE GAME ITSELF)

That being said, this game is awful for obvious reasons. Not recommended.

I really wanted to like this game, the graphics are really nice, the robots are cute, but...alas, it is not a good game. The gameplay is painful, the music is annoying, the game is jerky even when small screened. Played a couple of times, then the catcher thing quit working, closed it out, tried again, worked for one round then...yes... dead again. I quit! This would not even be fun for little kids! It seems to have potential, but as it is right now, I wouldn't play or pay for this; it needs some serious work!! Sadly, thumbs down.

Good morning fellow gamers! ;)

Today's game downloaded/activated and installed seamlessly. It seems that I never have a problem in this area, either with the games part of the website of the serious software give away site.

For those that constantly have download issues - I suggest Free Download Manager. It's the only way I download anything these days, and I never have issues with corrupt files etc. Depending on the size of the file - you can also instruct it to download the file in several parts at once which speeds up any download considerably.

It's also won many awards from the normal download sites.

I'm sorry for the off-topic mention, but I really do feel badly for all those that have constant download issues.

Review:

Today Double Games have shown that they can be part of the game publishing world with decent games (albeit still only with clones!) This is a dead-ringer for "Gold Miner Joe" and other 'fishing' type games we've seen over the recent past here.

The graphics (cartoons,) are amusing and lovely at window or or full screen with an obvious quality. The colors are vibrant; light source seems consistent; and they are just an all around pleasure to see while you're playing. Kudos to this game's very adept graphic artist!

The opening screen, reveals four choices; 'Instructions;' 'More Games' (I hate this in any game!) 'High Scores' and 'Play.'

The 'Instructions' screen, adequately explains the two types of game play: Campaign mode and Action mode - both of which have been seen in previous games of this genre. This screen explains the game 'Objective' also.

There is another part of the 'Options' screen that explains the 'Interface.' Very nice for those who aren't used to in-game access to options.

The music thankfully can be turned off! It's just terrible - though very young children will probably like it.

Robots: Each kind of robot is explained. They differ in size, weight, depth etc., - nothing new there. It's a bit dissonant seeing some robots swim, others fly and yet they're both beneath you to catch?!?!? Did the game developers really think we wouldn't notice??? ;)

Game Choice: I was a bit taken aback when I clicked play and was presented with this screen. You can easily see the headings; 'Campaign Mode and 'Action Mode,' however the rest is illegible in black text on a dark brown background. My first and only disappointment in this game (so far,) was finally washed away when I found that hovering over either description, lit up the fluorescent tube from above.

Game Play: Stephen (#11) has described this adequately, so I won't repeat his findings, as I'm sure I'll agree :) my only comment here is that it's NO different to previous 'fishing' games - right down to the gold bullion chests on the sea floor.

Major Gripe: NO function to save your game and return to the same point when next you launch the game.

Points:

4 for outstanding cartoon grahics;

2 for ease of game play;

1 for NOT leaving any shortcuts on my desktop! (This IS Double Games right?);

1 for a good explanation of the interface;

-2 for the inability to save the game;

-1 for being a clone;

-1 for not introducing any originality at all;

-1 for the 'More Games' link on the opening screen;

-1 dreadful music with no other choices.

TOTAL: 1/10 plus a thumbs up (for actually getting me to uninstall all prior games of this genre and keeping this one!)

However - this game is certainly the one (out of this genre,) that presents best on screen - and as someone else mentioned, I too, will be uninstalling all other 'fishing' type games and keeping this one. (Did I just say that?!?!)

My thanks go to Double Games - I have to say that your tenacity with this group of reviewers is impressive to say the least, [wry smile.] Now if you can only get out of 'clone mode' - you might actually be able to win us back over.

'Peggle'is a game that we would probably enjoy reviewing for you. It's a pretty unique concept in its game play - which is just what many of us are looking for now.

Thank you always to GOTD for their efforts and their little successes and failures that all go towards making an initiative workable.

Have a wonderful day everyone - get out in the sunshine!
