First: My wife and I have been enjoying these adventure HOGs. We play them together as a wind-down at the end of the day - each of our eyes being better at finding different objects. Thanks much.

Second, I've also experienced what I'd call an 'early end'. Edward first got frozen, and then released from that ice. He fell down, and then his eyes started to glow - and it was over. Something seems wrong. Is it a problem, or is it a missing chapter, sort of, like Tim mentioned above?

Dave.

Probably a bit late to be writing this, but it took me a while to finish the game. I quite enjoyed it -- yes, there's nothing new here but some of the puzzles were entertaining. But the end was very, very abrupt, it's clear that there's more story to go, and despite the statement above that this is a Collector's Edition (which presumably has the last bit of the story as an Extra) this was not, in fact, a Collector's Edition and therefore all the extras (including the end of the story) were unavailable.

Generally -- not always, I grant - the story is complete in the standard edition and the extra chapter is a prequel or something related. So the abrupt and very obviously early end of this is, frankly, disappointing and something of a letdown. Not to mention the fact that it's not a CE after all. :(

The game is crashing my computer to. It goes to a black screen and sends my monitor into standby. The only way to get out is to hard shut down my computer and I really don't like doing that. Its to bad I liked the game.

I very much enjoyed this game. There were points where even in the 'easy' mode the hints didn't help, and perhaps a bit less of the back and forth would've been nice, but I was engaged and enjoyed the gameplay.

The ending in this non-Collector's Edition was far too abrupt, however, and I was left blinking and wondering if that was it? Truly? A small amount of fleshing out the ending - even to clarify the cliffhanger a smidge would be a vast improvement IMO.

I really enjoyed playing the game but I don't have the gold coins necessary to make the golden rose. I looked at the walk through and saw where I was supposed to have picked them up. I had already past that point and you can't go back after you have solved that part of the game. Also after the cable car crashes you can't back up past that point.

Did you click on the elevator buttons? It will take you back down again. If you did and still problems, reload the game.

You back out of the elevator on the bottom floor, not through the doors.

OK. I trust you WR. Installed fine on Windows7 64bit.

Beautiful graphics. Have not played much. Game play is a bit convoluted. "Hint" only told me "Nothing more to do here." on EVERY available screen. I had to find a "walkthrough" to keep me going after less than 30 minutes of play. I will keep going, at least for a bit. It looks beautiful but could be much more user friendly.

Thank you, as always, and thanks to Playrix too. If I had not been familiar with them (I have and like a number of their games) I would not have risked overriding Norton. A good, reliable reputation is the best asset of any developer. Thanks again.

Just finished playing the game and did enjoy it. I agree with the comments about going back and forth without clear direction and that the hint button doesn't help with where to go next, but I did enjoy the hidden object searches and the other games (although it's a good thing I can skip some of them!).

Thanks again to Playrix for a nice game and to Whiterabbit for another great review! I really appreciate this site and I've learned to like new types of games because of it. I buy more games because of this site since I know what to look for when buying.

HELP!!!!
Downloaded and installed the game without any problems.
HOWEVER ~ I have run into a BUG.
I can't go back down in the elevator... Just shows a brick wall. I have retraced all my steps and used the Hint button to make sure that I have done everything in all areas (I have),
but I can't get back to the lower floor (where you have to build the ladder, etc)
ANY ADVICE happily received. :)

WhiteRabbit is the moderator for the comment section. That doesn't mean he can make changes to the web page. On a sunday, it's quite possible nobody is available to make such changes.
You get the game for free to try it. If you like it enough you can always decide to buy the collector's edition.

.............................Moderator Comment............................

That's right. I don't officially work for the giveaway group. I volunteered my services way back after spending a lot of time wrting reviews. I contacted the team and asked if it was possible for me to get advanced warning of games so that i could ensure a review was posted at the beginning of a giveaway, rather than later in the day, when most giveaway members had already visted. So, since 2008 I've usually been given advanced warning.

I have no control over what games we get. I do have admin priveleges so could theoretically chane the web page, but I wasn't given access to do that so would never even try. :)

I had the same problem, but at another point in the game. I found a very helpful walkthrough on the BigFish site: http://www.bigfishgames.com/blog/walkthrough/living-legends-ice-rose-walkthrough/. Maybe that can help you get unstuck. There's another one on Gamezebo: http://www.gamezebo.com/2012/04/01/living-legends-ice-rose-walkthrough-cheats-strategy-guide/, but I haven't tried that one.
I hope this helps, good luck!

HI!

Downloaded quickly on 8.1, but it did say it couldn't open, then did! The graphics are great and the game runs
smoothly. I did find a tightness at first, so switched to the default pointer and worked smoother. I played awhile
with no problems. I tried the easy level and you go back and forth a lot. I would think the hard level is difficult.
Thank you for another great game!!

have a good week!

Ah do love me a good HOG! ;-) The problem is that I don't have time to play all the way through in the Giveaway period, and so can't comment on the whole (I'm only up to the caves so far).

This is a beautiful-looking game, as usual for Playrix games; and the hidden objects are easy to find. The story doesn't seem to make sense yet, or is a little lame - but I'll find out when I finish.

The problem with HOGs is that theye're not really replayable for a long time: you found out the outcome of the story, so why redo it? This is where 'Questerium' stood out as a HOG game: I found out at the end of the story that I hadn't found all the strange plants, hidden money caches, and mystery objects; so I immediately replayed it to find those.

I'm enjoying this, so thanks to Playrix and GGOTD! Live long and prosper, Whiterabbit.

It's working! THANKS for encouraging me to work with the properties again.

I changed both at the same time: Run as Administrator (y) and Limit colors to 256 (y)

I don't know which worked, but I have been able to create a profile and solve a few puzzles. I have to go to bed now, but I will play with it again tomorrow when I get home from classes.

THANKS!

I am enjoying the game. Thank you GAOTD.
One thing I that I think would be an improvement is some sort of map to know where active areas are. I find myself going back to the beginning and hitting hint in each area just to see where there is something to do. I don't care for the back and forth but understand that as part of the game and I am ok with it. But I do want a map.

Played the game through to the front of the castle, need to go down in the elevator, but the game wont open the doors at the bottom, just keeps sending me back up and then opening the doors at the top. Some sort of glitch, I can't progress until the doors open at the bottom and I've tried everything short of reinstalling the game, which I just don't have time to do right now.

Looks like a glitch to hang it up, Any suggestion's would be appreciated. I've enjoyed the game. I quite like this type and find few worth bothering with. Problems like this is why I keep my cc put away. I don't see the point in paying for a game that doesn't work

Thanks GGAOTD fun while it lasted, I'de like to see how it ends, but ?

Before you delete, try the gametop version and see if you can get past that stage. then return to the giveaway version. It may be that you can then progress. If you do download the gametop version, do make sure you uincheck any tick boxes to avaid toolbars etc. You could alternatively post a comment in the game discussion forums asking for help. :)

@laurelnev: I don't think so - the CE version is over 500 mb in size when downloading from Playrix. So this really is the standard version of the game.
But it´s okay. Now I can play the first game of the series before playing the second installment ("Frozen Beauty") I already owned ;)

Well, I for one can't get enough of the HOGs. Actually those are about the only ones I ever get. So pay no attention to the people who complain about them. For every one that complains, there's somebody else that loves them.

Once you've been informed that the game isn't the collector's edition, you should edit the web page to reflect the truth. To not do so is deceptive.

Downloaded and installed with no problems. I tend to agree with most of what Whiterabbit wrote. It is beautifully rendered, but otherwise no great departure from so many others. My biggest frustration is that there's no clear direction to the play, so I ended up switching from scene to scene to scene hunting for the next clue or item. And it's like a game of Concentration when you do find an item, to remember where you saw the thing it goes to. And the hints don't help with either of those - just keep saying "Nothing more to do here" and no clue as to where to go next. I played for an hour or two - I really tried to like it - but uninstalled in frustration.

I am a fan of HOGs and this one has exceptionally beautiful graphics. It installed just fine and was enjoying it -- until I got to the gondolier screen. I did everything I could do there, I clicked on the "hint" icon and got the message: "Nothing more to do here now." The only problem is that the only arrow showing where to go is pointing down, meaning I had to go back to the previous screen. I went back to every screen to the beginning and kept getting the same message -- nothing more to do. The game doesn't seem to be stuck, I just can't find where to go forward. What am I missing? I checked several forums and no one mentioned that problem.

I went to the FAQs page but couldn't find a solution to my problem. (Win 7)

The game download/installs with no problem. When I start the game, it seems to go through the start up and I see brief snatches of images but then it blacks out for a moment and I return to the Desktop. The game is still running and the only way to shut it down is to use the Windows Task Manager/End Program.

I love HOGs, so I would really like to play this game. I don't have trouble with other GGAOTDs.

Thanks for any help,
Cyn

Have you checked your event log? Run the game again fiorst, then immediately open the event log via the event viewer. Hopefully there will be a lo=g of the issue.

Try changing the screen resolution temporarily. also go into compatibility mode and ensure you are running in admin mode, then change some of the graphic details. If the problem persits, post details over in the game discussion forums as not many commumity members will be visiting now.
I'm off to bed now, but will endevour to check back beofre the giveaway ends in the morning. do let me know if you manage to get it to work or not. Thanks

Possible spoiler.

This game was fun and I was almost finish. Adding the rings to the last quest and giving the heart to the Ice Queen and the game crashed. Third time the game crashed and shut my computer down.

To play the game after the first crash and auto shutdown I had to reinstall the game. Same with the second crash and shut down. The game would not install unless I deleted all traces from my computer including the registry.. I do not know if it is my computer or the game.

I enjoyed what I was able to play. Sadly I felt the game backtracked to much (constantly moving from one scene to the next) and the shortness of the game.

Hi Chris, firstly please refrain from swearing, even if only part of the word has been used. This is a family site. Sometimes a persons system may not allow the game to work, for whatever reason. There has been over 17 000 downloads, with only a few complaints of it not working for them. It's more than likely a problem at your end. Maybe something running in the background that conflicts with the game?

Hi, Thanks for a decent HOG, as usual it will probably appeal more to players and collectors of hogs than other regular GGOTD Visitors. I always look forward to this type of Games which can provide innocent and pleasant time passing when break from other chores is due or distraction much indeed.. That would probably describe why so many people prefer this genre to more 'racy', nerve racking and adrenaline pumping challenges of other type of Games, which is fine and I have no problem with that.

BUT!..I would like to add my voice of discomfort when hearing (and feeling) that 'hoggers' are somehow 'second class players', not 'macho' enough, not 'hard core' enough to be taken seriously? Unfortunately - that feeling (reminder) is only too visibly portrayed in some comments that although this ISN'T a Collector's Edition after all - but hey, still 'good enough' even as a SE.. Really?? So what happens when one DOES expect and deserves to get a decent satisfaction after 'all that playing' and not to feel disappointed when Game is 'cut short' and shabby END doesn't make much sense? Perhaps this Review of 'Living Legends: Ice Rose Collector's Edition' can shed some light!:

'I really liked this game! The CE is definitely worth the extra money because it has a nice long bonus chapter that ties up loose ends of the story that are not addressed in the SE'

Wishing Everyone nice Sunday evening, and today's Developer - more honest Promotions here and elsewhere!!

Norton will not permit install.
"A program was behaving suspiciously on your computer. This program was removed."

"setup.exe Threat name: SONAR.Heuristic.120"
Unknown Community Usage, Unknown Age, HIGH Risk

Apparently it was trying to get into the "temp" directory -
...[personal data]... appdata\local\temp\is-bm7hh.tmp
Norton: REMOVED

Darn. I usually like Hidden Object games and there hasn't been one for a while.
Thanks anyway. All the best to you White Rabbit.

Hi Lucky Kitty, Norton is detecting the security software as being a threat, which it isn't. what you are getting is a false positive. The game is as safe to install. either configure Norton to accept the game, or temporarily turn off your security until the game has installed, then turn it back on immediately. It's not usually recommended to turn off your security software, but its worth it for a moment just ti install this game. The security included with the game was put there to stop those who hacked the wrapper. The gamegiveaways were appearing on peer to peer sites within minutes of the game going live. The giveaway team had to include the security becasue sevelopers would have stopped giving us games.

I'm almost glad to see all the reports that it's not the collector's edition. I got this game from GameTop some times back and it was the regular edition.

It's a nice HOG and now I don't have to worry about replacing what I already know works!

However, it's too bad that the description is not accurate.
