I love this game, have tried it out quite a bit. occasionally i got the odd glitch. sometimes i have pieces disappear off into cyberspace, which leaves me scratching my head, but can usually get them back after fiddling with goodness knows what. It is quite maddening also when, if i have all the side pieces done and click to rotate another piece, the edges all rotate and half the picture is off my desk top. Maybe the fully licensed version doesn't have these glitches, if that is the case i will probably buy it. so many fun things to try out i haven't yet used my own pic but will do sometime.

Many thanks to the Giveaway of the Day team for the wonderful Infinite Jigsaw Puzzle. I find puzzle games test your brain a bit more than those awful shooter games where something has to be killed to get points. Once again team, many thanks for the free software.

I also wanted to say, I also experienced the problem where a small section of pieces vanished - I think they ended up off-screen somewhere. However, when I closed down the program and reopened it, the pieces were back like nothing had happened. It's only happened once so far and while it was worrying at first, it doesn't bother me enough that I wouldn't recommend this game.

I was really sad I missed this giveaway, and decided I'd try out the demo. I played a 260-piece puzzle and got it done within the allotted hour, and immediately decided I would buy the game.
I'm a big fan of virtual puzzles, because you can't lose the pieces. You don't have to spend fifteen minutes making sure they're all turned right-side up and sorting out the edge pieces, but the thing that REALLY sold me on this game is the fact that you can add your own pictures to use as puzzles. I had several puzzle-programs with classical art paintings and sculptures, but they were always limited to a dozen or so pictures. Therefore, I ended up with many different programs that did the same thing, just with a different selection of pictures to use as the puzzles! This is an excellent solution to that. I can choose any picture I want, and that is awesome.
I really recommend this. If you missed the giveaway like I did, please consider buying it. It's really worth the money and the developers really deserve it in this case.

Thank you to the makers of this puzzle and a big thankyou to Giveaway of the Day for making this puzzle free. I love jigsaws. They are so much better than the violent 'shooter' games.

Interesting game. Good to see excellent variety lately, even if a puzzle game is not my favourite type of game. Cheers GGOTD

This is great! I've been looking for a jigsaw game with the ability to add my own photos. This one seems to be a little sluggish on my system compared to the online ones, but overall it seems to be a good game.

After two downloads, I'm still getting the message, "Windows can't open..." I had to give up. It looked good, but I guess I'll have to do them online if at all. I think this is the first Alawar game that I couldn't get to work.

The install pack only works with the latest version(1.6). This version appears to be 1.0.0.1
Fun "game"! Installed and ran fine on XP. Anybody know if it is possible to download and activate GAOTD programs on a usb drive to use on other pcs? Thanks!

Since this doesn't install, I wonder if you can "install" it to a thumb drive. Then you wouldn't lose it.

Good game. I installed it on mom's computer and she likes it. Couple of slight beefs though: she (83 years old) has a problem with rotation(it should not be on as a default), and some of the sound effects sound rude. There should be a seperate volume option for music and sound.
Mom normally spends time playing the free online jigsaws at Jigzone.com .
Now that I am home I will downloaded on my laptop :-)
Thanks Whiterabbit for update on Magic Farm (onward and upward) :-)
They will get it right eventually.

Install Update - This program does infact install items into the registry. The fact there is no uninstall bothers me. It is really sloppy programming. Not sure who is to blame here GGOTD, Alawar or Fly Games. Since there is no uninstall available, maybe GOTD should have a decent registry cleaner tomorrow that will wipe out the entries this software created if you want to uninstall it. Why the fuss? The larger the registry file the longer it takes to boot up your computer. There really isn't any excuse for not providing an uninstall. For those who say the amount of info left in the file isn't that large. Please think about the people who don't have fast systems and have been running their computers for 5+ years. Do you think they can afford programs leaving junk behind? BTW I do realize most uninstalls don't completely wipe out their registry entries. That's why there are registry cleaners that attempt to. Wow, as I reread this I feel like I'm venting a little when I actually do want to provide constructive critism. Please programmers include an uninstall.

oh also I just discovered on the lenagames site that there is a free jigsaw puzzlemaker which can be used to create standalone gift puzzles for those who were asking. I haven't used it so I can attest to its usefulness. Here is the link. http://www.lenagames.com/astra-gift.htm
Here is a description although it doesn't say that it works with Vista.
"Astra Gift Maker is a free tool for creating stand-alone jigsaw puzzles out of arbitrary images (family pictures, images downloaded from the Internet, etc.). Create a jigsaw puzzle and email it to your friends or publish it on your web page.
No additional software is required to put such a puzzle together: everything is included in the puzzle itself. Yet the puzzles come out compact and suitable for distribution."

I have downloaded and played this Infinite jigsaw game a few times today and I like it and I will keep it. It is very colorful and seems professionally designed compared to a couple of other jigsaw puzzles that I have tried. But it has seemed a little bit difficult to find a couple of the features that they have listed as their most prominent features. For example, I have just figured out how to make a puzzle into 1000 pieces. It seems to me that the choice of fun mode or lite mode should be on the very first screen instead of hidden among the options menu. Another poster also wrote about how long it took him to figure out how to load his own picture into the game and I wouldn't have known unless I had read his post. I do like the hint feature. I also like the fact that it starts up with the last puzzle that I was working on. Apparently it does save multiple puzzles, but it isn't obvious which puzzles are saved when you start the game up. So you have to remember which ones you were working on which can be an issue if you go for a week or so before playing the game again. It would be nice if it displayed a list of the puzzles that you are working on the main screen. As for the 1000 piece puzzle, on my 19 inch monitor the pieces seem almost impossible to work with. I have Infinite open with a 1000 piece puzzle and my other jigsaw puzzle game open (Bigjig) with a 1200 piece puzzle and the pieces in my 1200 piece Bigjig puzzle are much clearer and defined though just as tiny.
I haven't tried any of the other jigsaw puzzles that other posters have listed here today. But for another great jigsaw puzzle game, go to http://www.lenagames.com/bigjig.htm It's called Bigjig and it's shareware but it's free to download and use-no functions are disabled as far as I can tell. You can get one free jigsaw from the site every week. If you purchase and register it, you also get over 300 jigsaw puzzles and a program that allows you to make jigsaws out of your own pictures to use within Bigjig. I first played Bigjig on a PC about ten years ago but I then got a Mac (and it doesn't work on Mac though I begged the creator to develop a Mac version), and since I've used a PC again for the past few years, I've been playing Bigjig. I hadn't really done too many jigsaw puzzles on or off the computer until I came across this game.
It's also very nicely designed. It has almost all the features of one offered today (no 'hint' feature or integrated music, or textured background though it does have a feature to change the background collar) and it has a few more features too. I can have several different jigsaws saved in the list of puzzles, therefore work on whatever jigsaw I wish (which may sound a little bit ADD but it's the same way that I read novels-2 to 3 open at a time) Both jigsaw games have a 'pockets' feature (which allows you to sort similar pieces into a separate window) but the pockets in Bigjig open in smaller windows on top of the main window. I prefer that feature as I can see all 4 pockets at the same time if I wish. Bigjig also has a choice of eight different sets of shapes. And it allows one to save the completed puzzle into a bitmap file if one wishes. It also has a magnifying glass feature for those 1200 to 1700 piece puzzles. It says that it works from Windows 98 up to Vista and the last update was released in June 2007. The other game she has on her site that I like is called Big Mosaic which is a puzzle but the pieces are shaped into squares and rectangles.
I have requested that giveaway of the day offer Bigjig on this site but so far haven't heard anything. Moderator: How long does it usually take for a software company to respond to requests from your organization to participate in this site? I believe that lenagames is a Russian company so I would think that would facilitate communications. I requested it quite a few months ago. Should I request it again?

For any other Pittsburghers out there, there are a couple of shots of "dahntahn".
Great job! Now that the kids are asleep (or at least in bed) I can get out of easy puzzle mode :)

#65 - Michael Kelly - I left a puzzle unfinished and when I went back to it I had the option to continue the unfinished puzzle or start a new one.
#67 - dan - Select All? I tried it and can't get it to do it the way you said.
Nice program - easy to use - many options - many puzzles...
Thanks Fly Games and GGAOTD!!

Thankee, Suzy!
BUG REPORT - one puzzle I was doing caused an entire section of about 12 assembled pieces to completely disappear from the screen. A little later on, I had another piece teleport off to somewhere alien
It's like my socks in the dryer!!!
Wondering if anyone else encountered something similar or if it's just because it's been a while since I rebooted my pooter.

What I would like is something that exports my puzzles in a playable format so I can share them with friends or on my web site. I used to have a program like that but can't find it now. It also let me embed my URL in a clickable link, it was a very nice giveaway I could offer at my web site (I'm an artist/photographer). Would like to see that kind of function in something like this.

Nice game but spoiled by a major bug. The pieces are sorted into order!!
Using the select all feature, you can stack all the pieces on top of one another by dragging a piece and pushing against the sides of the screen. Then apart from the piece you are dragging, the pieces can simply be placed bottom to top, right to left, rotating the piece as needed.

Thank you for the puzzle game offer. Even after reading all the comments, it still took me some time to locate the file and create a short cut; also, the first download did not complete properly. The program does work fine on my Windows XP: great option to add your own music, ability to upload your own pics and 'fun mode' extends the options of every single puzzle experience. It would have been great if auto-programmed a shortcut for convenience - some people don't work with 'zip' files, let alone searching for files. Overall, this game will give me hours and hours of play - and creating family picture puzzles will be fun, too. Thanks for another different game.

Hello,
Great game and I have told kids and grandkids to come and get it, but I do have one (1) question. Does anyone have a clue how to save a puzzle if you have to stop before it is finished???
Thank You,
Michael

Definitely not my type of a game but I downloaded and installed it anyway.
I like the option to make puzzles from your own pictures.
It would be great, if you could create a standalone executable puzzle from your own pictures, to give them as presents to your friends.

I have the same download problem as others. I have downloaded several times. When I click on setup.exe it tells me that the "WinZip Self Extractor header is corrupt," though it does activate correctly. The game does not install. :(
Any tips?

It's a swell game. But...we noticed that several, if not many, of the pictures have been "lifted" fro webshots.com. The professional photos there are copyrighted and for home use only, ie forbidden be incorporated into a commercial product. However, if the game mfr is in China or other distant locale, there is no way to get after them.

" ... and there doesn’t seem to be a way to change the “template” that the pieces are cut out of."
#12/Retroboy,
In the "modify" section (where you choose your puzzles), there is an option to change "piece form" to the left of the piece-number slider. Clicking on the arrows beneath the image of the piece allows you to scroll through the various selections.
~~~~~
"Nice graphics and fairly easy on my low vision although some screen backgrounds are VERY similar in colour to puzzle pieces so they do fade into background at times."
#56/dns,
When you go into "options," on the right-hand side is "change color," which allows you to change the color (and texture) of the background.
~~~~~
This is a very nice puzzle, but I have been hopelessly spoiled by Jigsaws Galore ( http://www.dgray.com/ ) -- definitely not freeware, but a really very sophisticated, robust take on jigsaws. Perhaps GGOTD can offer that one some time soon.
Thanks to GGOTD and Fly Games/Alawar for today's game though, as always, it's very appreciated. Happy puzzling. :O)

Please disregard my previous post - 46! I found the problem. The download on the first two attempts weren't complete as some others have also had issue with. The third attempt from mirror link was successful at activation AND setup - it just hadn't given me the usual prompts for install and had not created a shortcut. After reading forums, I searched for files and created a shortcut.
Now I have a great new game to play!! Have been playing a daily jigsaw puzzle on line for months and hoping GGOTD would have one at some point. Nice graphics and fairly easy on my low vision although some screen backgrounds are VERY similar in colour to puzzle pieces so they do fade into background at times. Overall this is a great addition to my games files.
Thank You GGOTD!!! :)

For those of you upset about it "not installing" or "no uninstall" it doesn't install. It runs from a folder. The default folder (if you didn't change it) is c:\games and there is a jigsaw folder in there. If you delete that folder you delete the game. Simple as that. If you want to play the game, go into that folder and double click on puzzle.exe. If you can't find where you extracted, search for puzzle.exe on your computer. Once you find it, right click on it and drag it to your desktop. Then choose "create shortcut here" and you can use that icon to run the program.
