I very highly doubt that the pentagon sponsors these games. The HUMVEE M998,(Very similar in appearance to the M1114, but you can tell from the doors) if I remember correctly, was decommissioned not too long ago, so I doubt this is depicting any current conflict. A vast amount of games are based around fictional and real conflicts, many including the HUMVEE M998 and M1114. I am very sorry that your friends are in danger, and I can understand you not being interested in this game as a result. Just please don't give it a thumbs down because of it.

#3: Typical solipsistic jingoism. What's much more outrageous than "your" 3000 military dead (volunteers) are the hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians who have died because of the ILLEGAL invasion of their country. I furiously await consequences for that bald war crime, but I expect nothing.

Carry on.

Thanks for offering two games this weekend, but I passing on this one because it is not for me. Also, my husband told me this game must have been made years ago because the graphic, the controls suck and the play was not fun at all. Thanks ... here's to hoping that the 'better' games are offered next weekend.

I was joking about this particular game coming out of the Pentagon. America's Army, on the other hand, is a recruiting tool of the US Army as you can see from its homepage. The military is pretty upfront about using computer games to recruit people. Too bad soldiers get blown up IRL.

Okay, I get it. I downloaded it this morning, tried it and had no idea. Came back later to read messages, that helped.
So it's up-down-left-right ralative the screen. Frankly, whether your vehicle is going in forward or reverse doesn't matter - just think of it as a rectangle moving on the screen. Use the mouse for turret control. And though this is gruesome, killing enemy soldiers by running into them or over them is as effective as shooting them. The big challlenge is going through the diagonal opening in the fences surround some of the checkpoints, since the vehicle only goes in four directionsm no angles. (Unless it does if you press two keys at once - I should try that.) Most importantly, the turret is mouse controlled - move the targeting cursor with the mouse and left click to fire. Which can make targeting and driving at the same time difficult. The green soldiers are grunts, the out of scale giants are robots and the brown uniformed officers may have bazookas or rocket launchers that can destroy you, so get them first. You can drive through vegetation (I don't think real Humvees can drive through trees) but not rocks.
Politically, it's true that violent war games can desensitive players while enhancing reflexes, so if you want your kids to be pacifists, well, why would you consider this game in the first place? And if you're raising brave little soldiers or cannon fodder, start the training here.

#3...
Yes; we at the pentagon are in the business of producing and releasing these types of games. These are very effective propaganda tools that have been shown to provide our growing young people with the ability to accept mindless, bloody battles. These types of "games" are encrypted with hidden messages that, when viewed 50+ times, the brain begins to accept messages broadcast by your government via national air waves. In fact; the phrase "Semper Fidelis" is code for "kill the children."
I am impressed with the ability you have to see through our disguised "video game" for what it truly is, and we cannot allow this knowledge to get out into the general public. We must target you for a memory erase.
But, since I like you, here is the trick. The only way to protect yourself is to watch re-runs of Maude and put on a tinfoil hat 24/7.

Now...please stay where you are and someone will be along to erase your memory, very soon.

TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!

The controls are relative to the screen rather than being relative to the vehicle... this is very confusing

not bad for 9 bucks, except for the directional controls problem.

It makes it almost impossible to maneuver.

Thumbs down because of the controls...

I have to laugh at the "War Game" whiners and their meager means at comparing this game to actual war. I know women and young teens (Female) that are into war type games so pleeeeese don't be trying to speak for the female gender as a whole. There's always a war going on some where at any given time with killing of the innocent a by-product of such actions. I let my nine yr old play war games so that if he's ever involved in a war as he grows older he'll understand to keep his head down, stay alert and have fast reflexes. He sure isn't going to get that by matching three items or playing with some cute bubble. I thank GGAOTD for this or any other war games they may post. WTG sponsers and GGAOTD.
