Finally completed the game. Found another minigame (the wooden blocks slider close to the end) that I had to use a mouse to do because my (Ugee) graphics tablet wasn't recognised for drag movements. Also, there are a few hidden object puzzles where the object and description don't match: one I saw a few times was "key" and "wrench" seemed to be transposed.
The overall game: creepy atmosphere and story, fairly well done apart from the minor bugs noted here and above. The end was perhaps a little abrupt -- possibly if there's an extended version (ie Collector's Edition) somewhere it might resolve that but this version needed /some/ sort of endpiece/epilogue/tidy, I thought.
Say about 65% overall, with maybe another 15% being achievable with relatively easy wins?

Running under Win8.1, 64-bit, installed and runs with no issues.
Found a bug and an oddity or two.
The bug first: the first mini-game really didn't like my graphics tablet -- I had to switch to a mouse to drag the creatures around to the right places. Unusual -- some games just fail to cope at all, this is the first time I've found a game that's MOSTLY okay with a graphics tablet but occasionally just isn't. Anyway, while I was trying to work out what to do in that first game (bear in mind I couldn't drag anything and I was trying to work out if I had to rotate things or quite what) I double-clicked on one of the pieces (the fish, I think) and lost the cursor completely. Nothing. No visible cursor anywhere, neither with a mouse nor my graphics tablet. I was eventually able to exit (Alt-F4) and click the "Yes" button by moving the mouse randomly until Yes was highlighted; reloading the game brought the cursor back.
The oddities: the spoken dialogue at the beginning doesn't quite match the subtitles. (That's probably a good thing: the spoken word was grammatically better than the subtitles!) And the Options dialog spells "sysytem" instead of "system" -- just a typo, I guess.

This game was given away on May 30, and I've enjoyed playing it since. Very good graphics, interesting plot line, a worthwhile game to download. However, I have a couple of issues with it that may not be immediately obvious. First, there was one HOG screen where I needed to find two keys to unlock a chest and retrieve a block. After finding the keys and opening the chest (and before getting the block), my mouse moved too close to the edge of the screen, and it took the adventurer to another screen. When I returned, the chest was once again closed, and I had no way to retrieve the required block. I had to restart the game from the beginning to get past that problem. Second, many of the items are listed under weird names that make it necessary to use the hint function to see what the programmer has in mind. For example, a TRUMPET turned out to be a piece of plumbing pipe with an elbow on the end. On another screen, it actually is a musical horn. Aside from that, it's very playable.

Running on a Win 8.1 desktop (AMD E1 processor), I got quite far into the game then ran into a HOG screen where I was to find a block that was locked in a trunk. I had to find 2 keys to unlock the trunk. I did this, and the trunk opened, however before I could claim the block, I accidently went too far down and caused the adventurer to leave that page and go to another. I immediately returned, only to find the trunk/chest once again closed and locked, but with the keys in it and the block inside. Since the keys could not be used again and there were no more keys to find, I was unable to complete that phase of the search, thus making it impossible to gain the necessary item from that scene that would allow me to go further. Even the hint didn't help, it just showed that I needed to enter the trunk/chest. I was forced to abort the game and restart from the beginning. This is where a "go back a step" or other restore points would help.

Thanks so much for a terrific game! Top quality and thankfully it has an interactive map as it should. Very interesting story, good graphics, interesting story, great games. Top notch and I will be saving this to play again in future. Only twice was I not sure what to do next and had to wander around until I thought of something to check or came upon a HO scene. Just enough challenge but not frustrating. Just a few objects mislabeled, and again, I would gladly proof for them!

Over all the game is a decent hog. I did find a bit of frustration in the naming of objects. I noticed several objects that were incorrectly translated causing the player to resort to using a hint to find out what the developer intended the player to locate. I know that it can be a monumental task to translate a hog game to various languages.
In the past I have been part of a group that helped a developer check item names. The developer would send a document containing the graphic of each item that would be searched for in the hog. We would send back the list with the item name for our language. So any reply I sent would be English - USA. The developer got feedback from many people and could choose the translations that would appeal to the largest audience. In return the group was given access to the games. It allowed the players to give a bit back to the developers who spend so much time putting together these games. Frankly, it was quite enjoyable and I would gladly do it again.

I played it last night until I got stuck where others on BigFish forums had - the Shed entrance :-( . I have a laptop with XP. Thanks for the You Tube links when I have more time I will watch them untill I find some hint of an answer.
I was hoping for a list of Download Managers in the forums but couldn't find it.
Thanks Whiterabbit.
............................Moderatopr Comment...........................
Best place to ask for suggestions is over in the main giveaway comments section. Though make a comment aobut the the software being given away, then ask if anyone knows of a decent free download manager. 'm sure loads of community members will respond. As will some here. I use a commercial download manager called Internet download Manager. I purchased it while it was on sale some months ago.

I am enjoying this game immensely. Yes, the 'dark' aspect of it might turn off some people, but there is nothing (at least so far) that has come up that is in any way particularly graphic. I think it's interesting and the best part about it is that it is a long, involved game, rather than one that can be finished in a couple of hours. I would love to see more games along these lines - hidden object are great, but it's the longer, more detailed HOG games that really make me want to check out other games by particular developers.

Hi,
That is the longest download I have had, over 1/2 hour on 8.1. It set right up easy. I tried casual and was extremely easy so far with
one clue or item following another. The graphnics are very good and play is easy without any cursor hang up or problems.
Thank you for another good game!

Yes is a big file but unpacks to 1.86GB on my machine, so had to move the game to another drive, plays well, complicated enough for me also with all the back and forth for gathering all needed items.

This game is very well put together. Graphics are very good. One thing: some graphics are very disturbing, such as the young woman being dragged through the woods. I think it would be too much for pre-teens.
Puzzles are interesting and logical - no random guessing is needed - and hidden objects are reasonably difficult to find. Nothing is impossible. Moving from scene to scene is easy.
One of the settings is for the "sysytem cursor". You might want to fix that.
This is one of the better HOGs I've seen recently.

Downloaded and activated easily on XP (YAY!!!).
Music is suitably mysterious but I agree it might get on your nerves or distract you from your current task if you have it on constantly, like all HOG music (sorry!).
Agreed about the great atmosphere, and the story line has me hooked so far. I've done one or to HOG scenes and would rate this game medium difficulty as these games go, partly because everything (so far!) is DARK, and finding the "A" was one of those where when I had to resort to the HINT, I thought "Wow — I would NEVER have found that on my own." I mean: there is "dark" and DARK and this one seems pretty uniformly DARK. Hopefully not every HOG scene in the game will be like that (?). You do need the occasional "light" scene every so often IMHO, just to keep things fresh during play.
Haven't got to any mini-games yet but I'm looking forward to them.
Overall, an 8 or 9 out of 10 based on my admittedly limited play so far.
Thanks to Mystery Tag and GGOTD!

No problems downloading and installing on my Windows 8.2 machine. It has great graphics and an above average story. The interactive map was invaluable or I may have gotten tired of running from room to room. My only issue was that some of the HOG rooms had items that were so far from what was described that I would have never found them without the hints. One included "dart" and "darts" which made the "dart" easy but "darts" actually meant a "dartboard". One asked me to find something odd like a "key" I think it was which was actually what looked far more like a monkey wrench. The closing story animatic seemed rushed just as it does with many HOGs but overall it was an enjoyable game.

I've never had an issue downloading/installing games from this site before (over 4 years). I deleted the original download I had this morning and decided to wait a couple of hours. I downloaded it again, and this time it successfully connected and installed. There was no sound (nothing was muted in game nor on my computer). I played the entire game without sound. My only complaint is some of the items had weird names occasionally, like a wrench was a wrench in some scenes and a key in others - while a key was a key. Besides that I enjoyed the game and story.

Argh! Sorry: clicked REPLY again before SUBMITTING my first reply, which was to Phil's comment about the game music earlier on. didn't realise that GGOTD would stick it here as a result. :( Apologies.
Yes, Elkyn, last week's game looked good; just a shame it didn't work on XP! Fingers crossed THIS week: I'll let you know later whether it's a go-er on XP. But I'm guessing it will be. If it wasn't, we would probably have heard by now.

Fair enough, Phil; I assume (not installed it yet) that there will be a Music Volume slider on the Options page which you can use to silence it.
[Sorry, game music composers, but I also usually "kill off" your work in HOGs after I've listened to it once or twice. I do this so that I don't miss any audio "clues" because they are "masked" by the music.]

Ok Windows 8.1 x64 Pro. Extraction of game may take a while, biggish file. Game is fun for this type and I'm not really a HOG fan. Excellent graphics - easy to read the list of search items for a change, done in green sharp font. Easy and harder play choices.
Music tad creepy but fit & is a slider.
Can see this game will be played all the way. Does have initial look/feel of an earlier female detective GOTD at start but is a fresh story I believe.
Make own shortcut with Send To (desktop). 9/10 for the way they designed the game. Thanks!

From what I've seen it looks like a really good game but a little too graphic in places. I can think of no good reason to include video of a real human girl being dragged through the woods. I don't know how often that will happen throughout the game but one was way too much and if there are more I will probably delete the game. Stuff like that is just too gross for something that is supposed to be enjoyble to play.

What a great game - worth the wait but it took me 30 minutes on a fast connection . Love the way that it has the facility to lead you to the next piece so that you don't just get frustrated and give up (although some of the items are pretty invisible on these dark backgrounds). No problems installing it on Windows 8 and, yes, the music is annoying but you can turn it off in the settings. The idea that you have to solve a puzzle in a puzzle is new and innovative (so you have to find a rod before you can catch a fish; a caster wheel before you can fix the horse to take it away. Congratulations to the illustrators and story board writers as it has produced a great atmospheric and rich landscape for the puzzles.

Got a very slow download today (probably due to demand) but the game installed and ran just fine on my windows 8.1 desktop. The music is a little irritating but professionally mastered and the graphics are a little pixelated on larger screens but all in all this is a great, creepy, mystery H.O.G. Not that there's anything seriously violent or bad in this game but I'm adding a trigger warning as a curtsy to those who are sensitive and/or recovering - just in case - (It's the bound up girl that might bother some folks.) :)

I downloaded this game twice today -- to two different machines with different versions of Windows. In both cases, using DTA with Firefox, it took about 6 minutes to download.
The Winrar was incredibly slow with the laptop running Win 8.1 but it did the job. It's a slower processor and possibly slower I/O. I was also trying to transition some old GameHouse games at the same time so there was competition for the hard drive. On the Win 7 desktop, no problem at all.
Both versions opened and seem to run fine. I just got far enough in each one to get a "warm fuzzy" that it's going to work OK.
Of course, in both cases, no shortcuts created but that's expected with a WinRar and is no problem to create my own.
For me -- it's fine and gets a thumbs up.

This is a large game, heavily compressed. It goes from 711MB to 1.86GB and takes some time to unrar during installation. Launches fine on my machine, Win7 x64 Ultimate SP1 on a PC with a Q9550 CPU and 4GB RAM.
A million thanks to the Game Giveaway website! The wife eats these HOGs like candy, she loves them! If I had to keep her supplied from somewhere like BigFish I'd have to get another job.
Last week's entry was fantastic too, of course she's finished it already.

Downloaded/extracted/installed/etc on Win 7/64 no problems. Playing with no problems. Enjoying very much, as I did the previous Mystery Tag game offered here. Game play has no glitches so far, the art isn't so dark that I am having a hard time seeing things (which is often the case in "night-time" HOGs), and I LOVE any HOG with an interactive map!! This one is a keeper and very timely too, as I have bronchitis and am fretting because there are a million things that I need to be doing and CAN'T because I'm coughing too hard, so this will be a very welcome distraction. Thank you GGOTD and Mystery Tag. Well done. Hope to see more Mystery Tag games here in the future.

How exciting -- another game from the folks at MysteryTag! Enjoyed last week's Dream Hills -Captured Magic from MysteryTag. Great to see another game publisher joining GGAOD. If the quality of this game is anything like Dream Hills, it will include beautiful graphics, interesting storyline, and more challenging and different puzzles than found in most Hidden Object/Puzzle games. Only suggestion I had for Dream Hills and possibly this game, after viewing screenshots (thanks, Whiterabbit), is that some of the hidden object scenes are too dark around the edges to be able to see all the objects clearly. I rarely have a chance to download and play an offered game in time to make constructive comments and today is no exception [Sigh] but hope that small contribution helps.
BTW, I'm a computer science prof and introduce this website to about 200+ students a semester, so am spreading the word about these game publishers in a fairly large way. Keep up the great work!
Thanks again, MysteryTag, GGAOD, and Whiterabbit - and best of luck to your son on his exams.

Problems:
If you have any problems installing or getting today's game to work please go HERE for help. I've posted most of the common problems and solutions in a FAQ thread, which you can find in the sticky section of the forums by following the above link.
If you are posting late in the day I would also suggest posting in the main giveaway forums, in the game discussion section because I cannot moderate 24hrs a day over the weekend. I've created a thread HERE for that purpose. If you've installed the game but it won’t work for some reason, it should still be registered, so someone may be able to help at another time. Unfortunately if your problem is actually installing it then once the giveaway period is over there’s nothing that can be done until the game is given away again (though that isn't guaranteed). Sometimes you can still register the game after the giveaway has ended so long as you managed to start the download before the giveaway ends. I've tested this and the grace period lasts for up to 1 hour.
It’s always worth checking out the free games sites because sometimes the games we get here are also available for free from them. MyPlayCity (MPC) has the most with over 1000 games to choose from. Other sites include Gametop and FreeGamePick. is available from MyPlayCity, see the link i've posted in the free 24/7 section Todays game isn't available from these sites.
If you do download any games from MyPlayCity, Gametop or the other free game sites 'do' watch out for toolbars etc. Make sure you un-check the check-boxes during installation, and, in the case of MyPlayCity, every time you boot the game up, (this may have changed now as these free game sites tend to change the format frequently. .. I've posted links to all of the common free game sites below in the games, games games section. :)http://steamcommunity.com/app/263200
For now I won't be recommending you download games from Jenkat Games. They have changed the way you get games from their site. Diane has posted information about this over in the game discussion forums. If I have time or remember, I'll link to it. Cab Lady/Lady Lei doesn't recommend TooMyk Games due to malware warnings.

The free game from Origin has changed to Ultima 8 Gold Edition. It's been optimised for todays computers. Well worth getting, especially if you are into classic games. Check it out HERE.
You do need a free Origin account and install the Origin client to get these free games. Once you've installed the Origin client and signed into your account select 'On the house' from the 'Free Games' drop down menu. Then select download now. The game will then be registered to your Origin account.
