Sorry about my first message being in the wrong place first time here.
The game for me was fun for passing the time and working the brain a bit as well. The graphics were as good as they needed to be for the type of game that it is. The music is not bad at first but, since it plays in a loop it gets annoying very fast.
It would be nice to get a bit more sound into the game from the "trolls" and the "balls". A small change in the music from level to level would be nice as well.
Overall I was happy and will play it many more times. This was the first game from Wheemplay I have ever played and would give it a four out of five stars. Thank you Wheemplay for the chance to play your game and thank you Game Give Away Of The Day as well.

Make sure your antivirus software hasn't quarantined either setup.exe or setup.gcd, both of which are required to install the giveaway. In addition, when installing the giveaway, be sure to pay attention to where the setup files place the application. Some installers just assume that they should place the giveaway in the last folder you installed to, which is often the folder of the last giveaway you installed. I would check there first and if it isn't there rerun the installer but don't just click, click, click. Pay attention to the install location and adjust it accordingly if needed which is to say that you should type the install location of your choice in the "Install to " box. Good luck!! :)

Unfortunately, that was given away 3 weeks ago on August 5th so you will have to wait a bit for a potential return. In the meantime, you can have fun with today's giveaway. :)

I have Windows Vista 64-bit, with Windows Firewall and MS Security Essentials. I extracted and installed with whatever program came with the computer. I had no problems downloading, installing and playing the game. No wrapper issues.
And it's just another Wheemplay physics game, they're all the same. I did get stuck on the third level though :P

I love wheemplay games, but both this one and the last one i was unable to install.. any other games from this site i have not had a problem with.
i tried several times, but still the same result. i temporarily deactivated my firewall and mamutu, but no luck. its usually these two that may interfere with any installation...
im tending to agree with the comment made by # 10 "... but you should be aware of these “bugs” and maybe check your wrapper just in case it might be a little something in there causing many people to have the same issues, and it’s not actually our fault!"
can you please take sometime before the coming weekend and do a full test on the wrapper? try it on a much weaker and slower machine than your main ones....but since many complain, there has to some sort of issue.....
thank you, and thank you for all the work that goes into these promotions.

Take a gander at the comments above. I have posted some suggestions that might help. If they don't please let me know.

I haven't tried it yet but I'm always interested in getting Weemplay's games and this sounds like at least of an average interest. The review is written by Whiterabbit or the substitute moderator?

i can't get it to open Setup at all. i tried all the different suggestions, and it still just does the "unpacking" then says do i want to let this program make changes on my computer, blah blah, and i click "yes" then it just stops and dissappears! On a search, the only thing that comes up is still just the zip folder--so i don't know where it unpacked it TO or what they called it, but i sure can't find it LOL

One possibility is that your antivirus is removing one or more files before you have a chance to get to them. Look for a way to temporarily turn it off. Once it is off, right click the downloaded zip and see if you have the opportunity to "Extract to ..." or "Extract ...". Either one of those should allow you to specify the destination of the extraction process. Just make sure the antivirus is not throw a monkey wrench into the works. Good luck!!

First time ever for me to have a problem installing anything from this site, but I too am getting the same error message “Error: Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item”.
AND AVG Threat alert: "In Setup.exe...the file is signed by an untrusted certificate, issued by: Toolbar.db7. Detected on open."
I have W7 / 64. I do have all permissions on my PC, I use the same extractor I always have used: WinRar, and always extract the files in a zip folder to the same folder. (it would be harder not to, yes?)
So, I won't be testing out this game, but you should be aware of these "bugs" and maybe check your wrapper just in case it might be a little something in there causing many people to have the same issues, and it's not actually our fault!
--------- Substitute Moderator ---------
I'll deal with the AVG alert first. I can assure you that the alert is in fact a false positive. Giveaway of The Day careful tests all its giveaways to ensure an absence of viruses. Additionally they have submitted a request to AVG to have their certificate listed as trusted. It seems AVG has yet to deal with that request unlike a majority of other security vendors. To throw yet more grist on the fire, I have recently read in a well respected web log that AVG is renowned its large number of false positives.
Your point regarding the extraction of software is well taken. I shall try to find an answer to your problem and report back to you. Don't give up the ghost yet. :)
--------- Substitute Moderator ---------
After many hours of labourious searching (okay, okay Stephen, I spent a whole 5 minutes. Geez) I have a potential answer or two for you and others regarding the windows error "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item."
Firstly try this:
Secondly, make sure that your antivirus application has not deleted any of the files in the downloaded zip:
This solution seems a little out there but who knows:
Let me know if those don't work.

I am not a fan of Wheemplay. The graphics look like a very small child's game. Not fond of the physics either. Would rather see a match three or a hidden objects game. That is my idea of an escape from the work day.

Unable to extract files. Messages says files are corrupt. I've deleted and retried. I'll come back later and give it a third shot. Nehmah

If that doesn't work, try a different unzip utility such as 7zip. In case you didn't know, Windows 7 makes zip files look like file folders and so it is easy to assume that the files have been extracted. Make sure you push the Extract button to be sure the files are actually extracted. The most recent version of the Giveaway wrapper requires that all files be extracted to the same folder before you try installing. Thanks for your persistence and good luck!!

Please make sure that you extract all files in the download before trying to install the giveaway. Recent changes in the giveaway wrapper require that all files in the download be fully extracted to the same folder before trying to install the giveaway.

Another great physics game by weemplay. I really enjoy these logic puzzles. Weemplay was making physics based puzzles before "Angry Birds" came out, and continues to come up with innovative physics puzzles that are fun to play. There are enough levels to be challenging without being tedious.

Hit the Troll:
Installation:
Hit the Troll downloads to a 11.8 MB zip file that unpacks to a read me a dual setup and registration file and now a security file (Setup.gcd). As with all Wheemplay games, the executable installs to C:\Games\HitTheTroll.exe. There is no game folder, just the executable. You can add a folder to the installation path or change the path during the installation wizard if you wish. There are no shortcuts installed to either the desktop or the Start Menus programs list. To uninstall the game just delete the games executable manually.
You can find the game on most decent browser game sites such a sKongregate. I'm not posting any links though because the spam filter may chuck my mini review like it did last week with alex Gordon. Until I sort my access problems with my admin account my reviews will be shorter and posted much later than usual.
Developers Introduction::
Clear all the levels from the trolls by using the special abilities of the three heroes. Full Description: Clear all the levels from the trolls by using the special abilities of the three heroes. Each shape has its own specifications and special abilities like weight, explosions and elasticity!
The Game:
The aim of the game is to clear all the levels from the trolls by using the special abilities of the three heroes. Each shape has its own specifications and special abilities like weight, explosions and elasticity! There are 20 levels to work through plus a simple to use level editor to make your own levels. To play custom made levels click on the Custom Level button from the main menu.
If you make a wrong move you can move back using one of the buttons found at the bottom left; either to redo a move or go back to the level selection screen, alternatively you can use the shortcut keys R for restart. As you progress through the levels they become more complex. You can only use each shape once on each level. Initially you'll only need to use one, but as they get harder you'll need all three shapes to remove the trolls.
How to Play:
Aim and shoot the shapes by using mouse and left mouse button.
M – Mute
R – Restart
T – Troll
You can turn the music off by either by clicking on the speaker icon found to the bottom right of the main menu or press the Mute key (M).
Conclusion:
As with all Wheemplay games Hit the Troll is a basic physics game with simple rules. You can easily work through the 20 levels that are provided in less than an hour; thankfully a levels editor is provided for those who want to play more levels.
When I saw the game for the first time I though "this is going to be too basic", but despite the simple graphics I enjoyed working through the levels. I easily worked through the first several without even having to think what I was foing, but the complexity of later levels forced me to have to restart the level a few times before I was able to clear the board. :)
Overall I'd give this game a 6.5 out of 10. If there had been double the number of pre-made levels I'd have given it a 7. not everyone enjoys creating their own levels, so the game is over far to quickly with just 20 levels.
