Heileen is a visual novel set in the 17th century. The characters based around the story are done in the anime style, as seen in many Japanese cartoons. The aim of the developers (Tycoon Games) was to create something different from the usual arcade games that we see all the time. As yet there’s no genre tag for this game, or is it just as it says a visual novel,
The following is the author’s scene setting:

Conclusion
I’ve certainly never seen the like before, so it’s going to be hard to make a comparison against other games. The nearest I can think of to compare it to is those picture based point and click games. It’s certainly different to the usual arcade games, but I’m not sure that I’ll be keeping it as I prefer something with a little more action. I did like the music.

Comment by Stando — August 2nd, 2009 at 3:03 amWow, this is a really different style of game. I downloaded and played it on XP sp3 with no problems.
Comment by Molly McFixit — August 2nd, 2009 at 3:37 amCan’t really decide yet on whether I like it or not, I was expecting a little more action… But I do like having multiple choices that affect the outcome of my ‘game’. Also being able to skip ahead at my own speed is a welcome change.
Thanks GGOTD and Tycoon, I’m always up for new experiences!
