It's always a pleasure to have access to a new game. I may be tired but I found the conversations a little quick and confusing, and the items were hard for these older eyes to see- though I started to do better as time went along. I do like games that are more realistic. I do like traveling from scene to scene. I don't have time to finish the game tonight/today but I will. I did like the variety of puzzles that I've run into so far.

Phoebe- the game is safe, Avira is making a "false positive" identification and erring on the side of caution in blocking the installation process.
It's not a failing of Avira, it's doing it's job trying to protect you, but in this case it's mistaken.
You don't have to worry about uninstalling the game.

Thanks!!! That did it! I had to do some tinkering because Avira was not showing up in my system tray. It's interesting that even though Avira did not seem to be actively working, it still blocked the installer.

Thanks to your clear and confident explanation of the problem and solution, I persevered and am now playing what looks to be an enjoyable game.

Thanks again for taking the time to help!

I'm terribly sorry, but can't install the game again this week...I keep getting error message that I can't open/install GCD file, I've tried various fixes (the limited ones I've found) and nothing works. I am sad, because I have enjoyed GOTD games for years now and only the last 3 or so have been this same issue. I feel like something's changed, but I don't know what...still running same Win7 machine. I am truly sad...

Win10 64bit download to a portable drive all went well. Download did says 10mins but I'm sure it was not even 5mins. Game plays fine. Quiet funny really. Love it. Thank you once again.

For the past 3 or 4 weeks I have downloaded and after the activation screen nothing. Missed some good game. Today with all the talk disable virus protection I tried it after disabling AVG free, It worked. So it.s not just Avast but AVG too. Hope this helps. I have been with GGOTD since the beginning. Thanks Whiterabbit and thanks GGOTD.

A decent HOG, a bit more difficult than average - items well hidden and obtuse clues (I'm diligently scanning for "books" when they wanted notebooks, and what exactly does an mp3 player look like?). The dialog sections are a bit long and distracting for my taste, and there is quite a bit of "click to continue".

Installed fine on Win7 Home. Reasonable game but removed as it messed up mu taskbar settings. Dislike games that do that.

I won't say I'm glad other people had the same installation problems I did, though I am relieved that "it wasn't just me".
And thanx to Cad for the work-around, Yes, it was not a Windows 10 incompatibility issue, it was an Avira false positive problem, Disable anti-virus during installation... and then turn it right back on immediately after, of course.
I din't mind the "cartoonish" comic book/manga art style. As others mentioned the darkish painting style does make some objects hard to locate. Some of the features, like showing the shape of the outline of the hidden object or the X-Ray machine mini-game, were different that what I've seen before. And the "hint" feature does not take TOO long to recharge, though waiting is still more an exercise in patience and relaxation than a source of fun. And when it does show you a hidden object often my reaction is less "how did I miss that" and more "How could I have been expected to see that?"
I'll give it a 6.5 out of ten - better than average because of the innovations and the half point bump just because I'm glad to see another HOG here. Still, not nearly as easy or as much fun as the Gardenscape games.

(On an unrelated note, wow, I really got stalled for a while on last week's Fishdom 3's level 48. It can be beaten but it's more a matter of repeated resetting it and winning by luck rather than skill.)

Anyway, thanx as always to Game Giveaway and to Alawar... and thanx Cad for that helpful solution that I suspect will come in handy in the future as well.

It's an alawar game. It's a hidden object game. They do a really good job on the ones they publish. I don't know who the developer is. The ui is different, the plot is different... It looks extremely promising. I'd say get it get it get it. If Alawar publishers are listening, thanks for the offer, please keep fighting the good fight and keep going at it. If time allows me and this downloads in time and I'm able to play through a little bit, I hope to give a slight breakdown of it, and if another of your titles shows up on steam I'll collect that. Gr9 work, Gr10/10 service.

Downloaded fine on Win8 - installed fine - came up fine .... but any time I click on the lower left corner, like for the menu so I can turn off the sound, I get dumped into the desktop and the game minimizes. I do have an extra large screen. This is not the only game that I have a problem with either the buttons not working, or the game not fitting into my screen. Also, I cannot close this game from the task bar.

Otherwise, it looks good - but I cannot test out the play with kids doing homework. ;) They'll be helping me find everything.

Hi Nikos, it's been a long time since I visited anywhere near Greece. My last visit was way back in 1991, when I visited a friend who taught English in a small town called Drama, so was looking forwards to Greek hospitality. I wasn't disappointed. :)

I have Windows 10 and all went well with the download and install.

I found the movement in the first scene to be very distracting. Of course this is a little whiney on my part since it does elevate the difficulty. The movement has very nicely done graphics. The eye is an amusing addition.

I absolutely adore the artsy ambience of the second scene.

The second scene is as far as I have gotten. In general, I like opening the different items to find objects. The inventory is a real plus. The hints are very specific (I wish I could say I was just testing it out for a comment). I always like the option to skip the dialog. I really like everything finishing up in the same scene....it's a really nice change of pace. It's a nice conclusion. I feel like I have really left it behind. This offers me more relaxation.

I really have no comment concerning music and sound since I turned them down in the beginning. This is another option that I really appreciate. I have people around so I have to think about them.

There were a couple of items that I thought were just too difficult to see. One of the items was the bottle.

What a fabulous game. I'm a huge HOG fan and am always glad to get one. Thanks Alawar for providing this one. To GGOTD - Super as always....you do such a great job. I really like the job everyone does on GOTD also.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend.

Same issue as others - got to activating screen & then it just disappears. Closed Zemana Anti-logger & that didn't help. Closed 360 Security & that wasn't it. Disabled AVG anti-virus & the game installed & appears to run fine. Sheesh! It shouldn't be this hard!

Downloaded and played well on windows 10 great game some items in the hidden object games very hard to find and have to use the hint button. I like the fact you can hover over the object you are looking for and you can see the shape you are looking for. It is fun to play.

I found this game just so-so. The music was annoying, many of the hidden objects were extremely small and dark, the puzzles were way too easy, and the game was short. I had no problem downloading. Game play was smooth with no glitches on windows 10 and it's free today, so thanks to BigFish, Alawar, and the GAOTD team.

The game downloaded quite slowly (my laptop is usually very fast, but this took a bit longer than the predicted time) but installation worked just as expected. (Windows 10 - 64.)

I do like many HOG games, although the traipsing backwards and afterwards can get very tedious. This one didn't have that problem, as far as I have explored it - you clear out one place and then move on to the next, which is better from my point of view. Not all the required items were easy to spot, but the Hints button was actually helpful, and recharged fairly quickly. The music is a bit repetitive, so as usual I'll probably do without sound in future.

The game itself looks to be an older model - static text sections, and the drawing overall could be better, especially in a tale about art masterpieces! But it does have a storyline which moves along with the characters.

Overall I'd say it isn't the most amazingly exciting game in the world, but it's interesting enough to pass a few hours on while you're waiting for the rain to stop so that you can go and wash the car. In fact it's probably a good bit more interesting than washing the car, but since I don't have one of those . . . !

Yes, it's worth downloading if you like a moderately challenging game for a soggy afternoon or two. So thanks again, Alawar, GGAOTD, and of course our sun-seeking friend, Whiterabbit. Hope you're all having a great time on holiday!

HI!
Downloaded quickly on 8.1. Set up easily. The pointer seemed to have a stiffness. There is not an option to use a regular
pointer as with many games. It was easy to follow. There is a wait between scenes for them to load, not too long though.
I played a few levels easily. Thank you for another good game!
have a good day,
Lee

(When there were no comments yesterday was worried something happened to whiterabbit-uk, glad he's ok).

I enjoyed playing the bit of 'grace’s quest: to catch an art thief' I got up to.

Hidden object element bit trickier than some. When you hover over an object to get a clue, sometimes the shape doesn't match the object, annoying.

Looking forward to finishing it though, (I might get to do another painting lol) ..

Look for PUP blocking in your antivirus. It might be spelled out Potentially Unwanted Program blocking. Turn it off and everything should work.
PUP protection is highly overrated. PeerBlock is more effective and less interfering.

Update: specifically, Avira claims it found 'TR/Crypt.ZPACK.Gen7 [trojan]' in the setup.exe file today. Clearly it's some actually-benign internal packer which is unfortunately also used by malware writers.

Installed on WIN 7 Home Premium just fine. Opened to play game. Worked well. It is a bit challenging on the first game at the airport terminal, but was interesting.. When I exited the game, it closed ok, but it did freeze up my browser that I had left open. I use Ice Dragon. Once I closed that, all is fine. I think this will be a fun game for those who like HOG's. Thank you for the game.

To any other Avira Antivirus users out there: if you get the message box "Failed to launch the program" when you try to install today's game, here's how to work around that.

Get ready to run setup.exe, but FIRST: right-click the Avira icon in your System Tray and switch "Enable Real-Time Protection" OFF. THEN open setup.exe and right-click the Avira icon in your System Tray again. The moment you see the installer dialog asking where you want to install the game (it proposes "C:\Games") IMMEDIATELY switch "Enable Real-Time Protection" ON again. FInally, choose a destination folder and continue the install, which will work just fine.

It's not a good sign when all this is necessary to get an installer to work, but it is what it is; and I hope this helps some of you who are having the same problem. If you get the same message but use a different anti-virus application, use the appropriate steps to disable/enable 'real-time protection' in your application.

Downloaded Ok and installed on Windows 7 just fine. I usually like HOG style games but this one just didn't do it for me. The music was getting irritating after a while playing the same tune over and over. The scenes in the dialog was too cartoonish and silly for my taste. The objects weren't defined on the screen well enough to pick out. This just my oppinion and you may like it more than I did.

Whoa! There is an eye that keeps staring at me from that hole in the barrel! That's creepy!!! I wanted to poke it with the horns of the Viking helmet, but I couldn't!

I am now a X-RAY TECHNICIAN!

I have enough rings for ELEVEN FINGERS! That has to be a CLUE CLUE CLUE!

Downloaded with no problems at all! Not a SINGLE one. I'm soooooooo glad I don't have a c--ppy computer!

Items were hard to see. I used that lil ol' HINT button a lot in the first scene.

The game makes me think it's OLD OLD OLD! Don't think it will be a keeper (Creeper).

I played through the whole thing and it was enjoyable. There was a nice mix of hidden object and puzzles to solve. My only complaint is that it was too short. I like the fact, that unlike many hidden object games, there wasn't all of the running around from place to place to find all the objects. My kinda hidden object game. I only wish more of them were like this one. Thanks Alawar for offering this game for free, and thanks White Rabbit for all you do to bring these games to us. :-)

Everyone, They changed something a few weeks ago & ever since then, I've had to reboot in Safe Mode w/Network in order to install. Downloading is fine without having to change anything but can't install....despite the fact the "success" appears....and then I have to do the reboot. I have Kaspersky for my Virus Protection & I think WhiteRabbit may have said that that was one of the cause. I haven't tried today's game yet but will download it now. --Dax

Thanks. Still got poor access to the internet as it's being used by at least 50 plus residents of the hotel at any one time. I was getting 10kb per second download speeds, though if I wait till most residents are asleep I can get around 2MB per second.

I don't know who the moderator is over on the giveaway side of the project; I was a little peeved that they wouldn't let my comment through yesterday, although I wasn't commenting on the actual giveaway, the comment was still important as it was informing the community that I wasn't able to access my moderators account, so wouldn't be able to moderate the comments at all until I was back in the UK. I posted it just after the giveaways went live yesterday and it was still awaiting moderation 8 hours later despite several other comments having been moderated, then it disappeared altogether a few hours later???

Thank you for sorting the password. :)

p.s. do you have my giveaway email? It's whiterabbit-uk@hotmail.co.uk
