The Game:
From the standards of the previous works from Shaman Games, we expected Dreamscapes: Nightmare’s Heir to impress us, just like its predecessor did. Unfortunately, Dreamscapes 2 turned out to be just another generic HOPA; in fact, it is the worst offering from Shaman Games to date.

The Sandman is back for the revenge he had promised at the end of Dreamscapes: The Sandman and this time, you need to play as Laura and save your husband, Tim, from his own nightmares. Nightmare’s Heir is a portal-adventure game, with each portal telling a different mini-story, with a different nightmarish theme. Despite the unoriginal plot, we actually enjoyed getting to know the darker side of Tim’s mind as we travelled through his twisted, yet amusing nightmares.

Dreamscapes: Nightmare’s Heir is an unarguably well-designed game. Each nightmare portal is unique, creative and clearly separated from the others; making the game not as boring as it would have been. Besides, the visuals and sounds of Nightmare’s Heir were also great. The graphics were not mind-blowing or super fancy, they looked pretty amazing and nonetheless. Similarly, the soundtracks were not particularly epic, but they fitted with dark theme of the game quite well.

Unlike the first Dreamscapes game, Nightmare’s Heir was not a pure casual adventure game. For some reason, Shaman Games decided to include a few hidden object scenes in this sequel, not necessary a bad thing though. The hidden object scenes here were mostly standard junk-piles that were slightly interactive, not especially entertaining, but at least they were sporadic. As an adventure-focused game, Nightmare’s Heir featured relatively few puzzles, and those that were included were fairly easy and not very innovative. The majority adventure part of the game was fun; although we would have enjoyed it much more if the hint system was less frustrating and a jump-map was actually there to alleviate the pain of backtracking.

To the player’s benefits, Dreamscapes: Nightmare’s Heir contained a number of extras such as a handful of Achievements and over 100 Collectibles (they were annoying and extremely hard to spot by the way). Still, those extra features was not able to make up for the game’s short length, we finished the game just under 3 hours on the easiest mode.

Notes on Security
The file size of the installed game exceeds the size allowed to scan online, so I'm unable to post any results for this game. We've been getting games from TooMky Games for a few years now, and I've never come across any issues with them. The giveaway version has had most of the adware that is associated with free game sites disabled, but you'll still get an advert popping up when the game has been installed and whenever you close the game down after playing it. All free game sites use this model. It gives ad free gaming while you play the game. The browser opening when you close the game down earns TooMky Games some advertising income due to the adverts located on their home page; part of this income is paid to the developer of the game for allowing the game to be downloaded as a registered version for free. It's a small price to pay for getting a free game; the adverts are innocuous, i.e. no malware or adware is installed to your system. What low level adware that is present is located within the installed game and is never injected into your system.

If anyone who got the previous weeks TheHunter: Call of the Wild is interested in playing some coop with me, please leave a message in the thread I posted over in the forums HERE; I'll then contact you via the email you've used for your forum sign in and I'll send you a link to my Discord channel and make some arrangements to play. I've been playing the game regularly since June this year (accruing over 600 hours of game play). I've found playing with friends much more enjoyable.

The best Indie Bundles sites that have been operating from around 2011 are the Humble Bundle and Indie Gala sites where you'll sometimes find decent bundles with over 90% off the usual price of the games included in the bundles. The Humble site is in my opinion the best. A more recent addition that is worth checking out are the Fanatical bundles (used to be called Bundle stars)that you can find HERE (thanks Delenn for reminding me of this bundle, I've just recovered my account and found thousands of unused Steam keys listed from various bundles I purchased from 2012 to 2017).
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, which has 95% of almost eighteen thousand 'overwhelmingly positive' reviews on Steam is 100% off HERE temporarily. Grab it while you can. This is an outstanding AAA game, and at the time of release there were very few first person Western themed games available.

Also available free at the moment over on GOG is Cave Story®'s Secret Santa

p.s. If you are a collector of removed games from Steam. The developer MS Game Studio are closing down their development team due to economic conditions and are removing all of their games from the Steam store from the 16th December 2021, at which time they will no longer be available for sale anywhere. All four games are 90% off until they are removed. I've checked the first two games, a single player game called Bloody Sand : The Gods Of Assyria (£2.37), and a single player/ multiplayer game called North Of Iraq Part 1 (£2.37), and found them both playable and mildly interesting but nothing special. Also available for the last time are Prison 69 (£1.54) which has a content warning being unsuitable for children and Battle Sad Boy (£0.71). The games get mixed reviews via the Steam community. I would say that for the price they are acceptable, but none of the games had anything new or exceptional to offer and in my opinion, are only suitable for those who like to collect games.

at the end of the installation, I was asked to install "ToomkyGames Gadget".
What is the function of this gadget?
In the ToomkyGames FAQ, you can only find how to install or uninstall it, but not, what it is, or what it does.

Hi,

That is an optional installation (see second image below). When you install the game make sure you uncheck any check boxes if they are present and the last window to open (see the last image) gives you the option of installing software informer. Again not required.

Probably reason it didn't last was the quality, unless all the problems I've found are simply from the download I received. Game is freezing intermittently and unresponsive when clicking on items. One of the first HOG scenes, refuses to acknowledge a number of the items and so am unable to play the gamr. The first edition worked fine and was a passable game, but this one, for me is a bust.

Hi Lawrence, this game has never been given away before. You may be confusing it with The Sandman (the first in the series)

This was a 2014 game and the second of only two games in the series which might explain why it isn't as good as later games. They seems to be lately focused only on the Hiddenverse clutter games, although haven't released anything since May of last year. A lot of HOG companies have disappeared in the last year, although their website is still up but with only older games.
