Download and installation went fine, and I've played a bit every day. Suddenly clicking the hint stops the game. Wrote to Mystery Tag and no response. Very sad.

Sadly there is no support offered with game giveaways. Though it's always worth asking as some developers do helpl some more than others.

This game was quite fun. It was not as long as I'd hoped, but the graphics made up for it - this was just a really PRETTY game. lol Some of the written/spoken bits could use some touching up grammar wise, and it would have been great if it had been longer, but overall a really fun game.

I realize I had downloaded this game from MyPlayCity back in 2014. So deleted the GOTD version. Will try it again another day.

Wabbit, do you mean a Rube Goldberg? Here are 10 examples of the over-engineered machine - http://coolmaterial.com/roundup/rube-goldberg-machines/, including the recent famous Honda Machine, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWk9N92-wvg. It only took them 607 takes to catch it on film working properly.

Ah yes, thank you. I've been trying to remeber the name. I knew it began with an R, but couldn't dig the rest out from my memory. Much appreciated. :)

Welcome, MysteryTag, and thanks to you and GGOTD and Whiterabbit for a fun game. Not too hard and not too easy for me (kinda "just-right"), and I do appreciate the fast-hints/easy option, and the option of skipping some of the puzzles. Also the fact that there is apparently no penalty for "unproductive" clicks. And the lovely graphics, and the fact that I'm not spending most of my time wondering where to go and what to do (aka "wandering around in the dark"). HOGs aren't usually my favorite games, but this one I'm enjoying. Oh, yeah, and did I mention the fairy-tale allusions?

Installed and activated just fine on my old XP/32-bit rig, and is playing fine, too.

Game loaded fine win 8.1. I played no problems until I was about to board the cable car and I got thrown out of the game and it didn't save. So now I have to re play this game back to where it threw me out. :(

The game crashes on Win 7 64 bit when I get to opening the castle door. I open the first lock, start fiddling with the second one and the next attempt to use the hint button crashes the game regardless of which screen I move to. Not a bad HOG, but not very playable :-(.

Hey Anthony,

I am curious, also. If the Windows rumours are correct and they do switch to a subscription/update model, I will be running Windows 7 in a Virtual machine and Using Linux as my main OS(I am thinking Mint so far). Right now, the unwrapper/DRM requires Internet Explorer to be online even if you are using Firefox etc.

So if you run a Windows OS somewhere..unpack it in Windows and then take the unpacked folder into Wine and make a shortcut(or the equivalent) to the game, I don't see why it would not work.

Let me know if that works. Or you can message me in the forum.

I think we all still love them in our hearts. I always watch fairy story related programs on TV. Watched a version of Cinderella a few weeks ago and the other day Snow white. Apart from them being brilliant stories they bring back memories of my mother reading to us when we were toddlers. She passed away 20 years ago. :(

Downloaded, extracted on win 7/64 without problems. Opened and playing without problems. What a joy after both Pahelika games (never could finish the second. Got to the last level and spent a few hours trying various ways to get it to open and never could because of it freezing. Finally gave up). I am enjoying the light and pretty colors - so many HOGs are dark and hard to see. Music is non-distracting and non-annoying. I'm only in the first part, but pleased with it so far. Yay!

This is a really lovely game; much more of an old fashioned sort of adventure game than a hidden object one. I say this as some might overlook it but the adventure elements are much more prevalent and it has gorgeous graphics and wonderful atmospheric sounds It reminds me of one of the first Dream Chronicles games...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dream_Chronicles
Don't by pass this one; it's a charmer but is sufficiently different and challenging to keep even advanced adventure players occupied....
Oh and welcome and many thanks, Mystery Tag games, I am certain that you will have every success with this game!
Also thanks to GGOTD ! :)

Just an additional note: finished the game and my earlier impressions hold: challenging enough to make you think a bit, but not so challenging that you need a walkthrough (which is good, because there isn't really more than the videos that are incomplete and the .exe file I wouldn't download). Just needed a few hints to nudge me in the right direction, and confess to skipping one of the puzzles, more because it felt too random and boring than because I thought it was unsolvable :). Liked this one well enough, though a more eclectic (some HOG, some puzzles, some strategy and math, etc.) one is more up my alley. Thanks, GGOTD and MysteryTag.

No problems with download and installation.
Sharp graphics, nice story line - I got distracted right away.

So many cool games in the last week and not enough time to play them... :-)

Installed without problems on Win 8.1 . Nice looking game, no too difficult for a sunny saterday afternoon. In beginner mode, plenty of hints and skips are available. The game play is average, the nice design gives an extra cachet to this game. This one is a keeper.
Still some days in examens mode for you, White Rabbit. Our daughter finished hers yesterday and we are happy she is her normal friendly self again.
Have a nice weekend!

Hey, Whiterabbit, is there any way we can get games that will work on linix or a way to get them to work on linix, will wine work?

sorry for the very late reply anthony. I've never used Linux so can't say.

Mikiem has said that Microsoft are not planning any more versions of Windows after v10. I really don't know what i'll be doing at that point. so long as i can still play all of my games i won't be that bothered. I'm sure something better will be availabale eventually. :)

Hey Wabbit,

I did download the game(haven't installed yet) because of "your favorite fairytale characters such as Peter Pan, the Grey Wolf, Rapunzel and many others". As you know I hate HOG's but this one interested me because of the fairy tales characters.

Since I am having troubles posting in the forum and I am NOT giving up my nick(They really need to fix that problem..because I won't post there anymore.....so annoying.), I am posting info about a free game being offered over the weekend for the holiday. It's from the makers of The Incredible Machine®.
http://contraptionmaker.com/contraption-maker-free-weekend/ I found out about this from Rock, paper, Shotgun. You do have to give them your email but.....

"What do dynamite, a magnifying glass, a bowling ball, a cat, and a blender all have in common?

They are just a few of the objects you can use to build crazy contraptions and incredible chain reactions. Part puzzle game and part eccentric inventor’s laboratory, Contraption Maker is 100% smart fun......

Does Contraption Maker look familiar? It is actually the spiritual successor to a game called The Incredible Machine® from way back in the 90's. Spotkin is made up of the same team that made the original game, and we are dedicated to bringing the classic gameplay of our favorite game up to modern times for a whole new generation of players.

Our goal is to get kids designing, creating, tinkering, and pushing the limits of their imaginations."

http://contraptionmaker.com/

Also...Here is a page listing some free Game Boosters and what they do...

http://www.ghacks.net/2015/05/23/do-game-boosters-improve-pc-gaming-performance/

Thanks GGOTD and MysteryTag(amd welcome to GGOTD) for the game. And Dear Wabbit don't crack the whip too hard. I know GSCEs are important but let him have a bit of fun...

..............................Moderator Comment........................................

Nice find Delenn. I'll see if I can find out what the problem is. The forum seems to be getting fewer posts as time passes. It used to be such a friendly place as well. Shame as it is a great resource for free stuff. I'll post the contraption maker in the forums later. Still really busy with my son. We have intensive revision sessions with him at the moment. Absolutely shattered. Our fault in that we had trusted him to do the work for months and only recently found out he wasn't revising when we thought he was. He's come down to earth with a thump. Thankfully its the next stage of his education that is more important.

You used to be able to get The Incredible Machine and most of its sequels for free from most abandonware sites until GOG managed to get a licence to sell the games. you can pick the whole lot up quite cheap. The graphics are dated, but the game play is brilliant. I love that genre of game. I'd love to see a more complex version where you create long sequences of effects. Can't remeber the name of the sequences where you string together loads of different wacky machines and set them off in motion, much like domino stacking. The name is on the tip of my tongue, but my failing memory won't let me remember. I have a similar game that i purchased about 10 years ago that features a purple dragon. It's a 3D version of Contraption Maker. Can't remember the name of it but will search it out when I get around to sorting out all of my backed up games. Cal's exams are more important at the moment.

Enjoying this a lot so far, with no problems (fairly far into the game in typical obsessive fashion :)). The puzzles are easy enough to be doable without running to walkthroughs all the time as with the disappointing Revelations game from last week, but still challenging enough even for this experienced oldster! It would be nice to have a written walkthrough, though; the one linked in WR's review is an .exe file which makes me VERY leery, and the you tube ones are in German (not a real problem as it's mostly visual) but drawn out and he doesn't follow the order I'm following, so not easy to find the few hints I need. But I'm enjoying this so far! Thumbs up.

Game downloaded and installed fine. I am very pleased, because there are no problems playing it. The graphs are colourful and the music is not annoying at all, but rather nice. Had housework to do, but got hooked and played for a while. This is more a hidden object wander game and I like those the best. You have to combine things in order to get on. I did not get lost which sometimes happen in other games when you wander from one location to the next. Another thing is that you can click as much as you like without being 'punished'. Unfortunately I need to click a lot, because some items I just cannot see/find. Clicking in the darker spots helps very well. There is also a Beginner's mode and I am very thankful for that because it enables me to use the hint button often. Thank you all for this lovely game. Stephen thank you for last week's comment. These things can happen, no problem and perhaps it was my mistake.

Welcome back from your GSCE week, Whiterabbit! Hope you and your son survived unfrazzled :-)

This game downloaded and extracted OK -- note "extracted", so no uninstaller, and no shortcut to desktop: create your own shortcut from Games folder.

Welcome to GGOTD, MysteryTag!

Game graphics are beautifully bright, and hints are generous in Beginner mode. I've only played 10 minutes to test, but loving it so far!

Problems:

If you have any problems installing or getting Pahelika: Revelations to work please go HERE for help. I've posted most of the common problems and solutions in a FAQ thread, which you can find in the sticky section of the forums by following the above link.

If you are posting late in the day I would also suggest posting in the main giveaway forums, in the game discussion section because I cannot moderate 24hrs a day over the weekend. I've created a thread HERE for that purpose. If you've installed the game but it won’t work for some reason, it should still be registered, so someone may be able to help at another time. Unfortunately if your problem is actually installing it then once the giveaway period is over there’s nothing that can be done until the game is given away again (though that isn't guaranteed). Sometimes you can still register the game after the giveaway has ended so long as you managed to start the download before the giveaway ends. I've tested this and the grace period lasts for up to 1 hour.

It’s always worth checking out the free games sites because sometimes the games we get here are also available for free from them. MyPlayCity (MPC) has the most with over 1000 games to choose from. Other sites include Gametop and FreeGamePick. Pahelika: Revelations doesn't seem to be available from any of the known free game sites.

If you do download any games from MyPlayCity, Gametop or the other free game sites 'do' watch out for toolbars etc. Make sure you un-check the check-boxes during installation, and, in the case of MyPlayCity, every time you boot the game up, (this may have changed now as these free game sites tend to change the format frequently. .. I've posted links to all of the common free game sites below in the games, games games section. :)http://steamcommunity.com/app/263200
For now I won't be recommending you download games from Jenkat Games. They have changed the way you get games from their site. Diane has posted information about this over in the game discussion forums. If I have time or remember, I'll link to it. Cab Lady/Lady Lei doesn't recommend TooMyk Games due to malware warnings.

Games, Games, and yet more Games plus Download, Installation & Game play Problems:

There are 292 games on sale over on Steam this week, ranging from 10% to 90% off. There's also an Iceberg Interactive and Capcom publishers weekend sales this weekend with up to 80% off publishers prices. You can find a full list of all sale items HERE.

You'll also find some excellent deals over on the following Game sites.

GreenManGaming
Gamersgate Summer Sale
GOG (DRM free games)
Desura
Gamestop
GameFly (soon to be sold off)

Free Game Sites:

MyPlayCity (over a 1000 games to choose from)
Gametop
FreeGamePick

To be honest there are too many game deals around too list them all. Just visit the sites I recommend above and I'm sure you'll find something that suits you for a very decent price. If like me you prefer Steamworks games, many of the above sites also sell steamwork games.

If that's not enough, check out the Game Discussion forums HERE for details of other games either free or on deals such as the Indie Game bundles (there's over 20 of them - If you purchased all of them you'd be paying around $80 for around a thousand dollars worth of games); or check out the four day sales at IndieGameStand. you'll find the indie bundles thread HERE. The thread is outdated, but all of the links will still take you to the latest bundles.

The latest IndieGameStand game is called Parallax, a first-person puzzle game with two overlapping worlds. Weave back and forth between black and white as you try to be in the right place, in the right dimension, at the right time. Use switches, boosters and gravity to help you reach the exit. Can you conquer every mind-bending level?
PLUS, if you pay over the average, which at the time of writing was $1.29 you will also the OST. The deal ends Tuesday 26th May 15 5am (GMT)

The latest Daily Indie game is Luna Shattered Hearts Episode 1

Play as the enigmatic Lithien Silvair. Living on the odium, suffering from amnesia, and a fresh arrival in the deepest most dismal spot the map... Luna. Are you deep in the planet's mantle? The land of the dead? or somewhere in-between? There are scant few inhabitants and each is deeply flawed. Is love real? Can you trust anyone?

Back in the real world people call this place Luna. No one who has never been there could ever really confirm or deny its existence... but the rumors do fly. A cold tomb for the fallen? A penal colony managed by The Order of the Raven? Or worse yet the very gates of Hell!? The perspective of its inhabitants is of a different attitude, and only that of escape. Every last one of them wishes they could get back to something... Only the purest of naturalists could find appreciation in its endless tombs, roaring wind, and cold pebble and flint stones. As Lith enters the scene he enters into a very trying time for Luna. The intelligent Chumbo has been banished. The peaceful native population of Val'Ra have recently gone missing. Could someone closer than the party thinks be responsible?
You can get two keys if you pay more than the average of $1.12 (at the time of writing). One key to share with a friend or family member perhaps? You'll find that deal HERE. They also have four bundles of several games that'll cost you less than $1.50 each HERE (DIG Bundles 27, 28, 29 & 30 {only just added a few days ago}). You get Steam keys for all of these games. The single game deal ends Midnight Sunday (24th May) and will be replaced with an excellent car based game called Crash time 2:
i.e. Solve exciting criminal cases on the mean streets as member of the autobahn police force - or freely explore the open game world while chasing down high-octane racers. Escort politicians, transport precious goods or take down the criminal element with over 500HP and close to 200MPH. With fully destructible cars, arcade gameplay, outstanding graphics and stunning slow-mo effects, Crash Time 2 puts you right in the driver seat, ready to burn rubber.

Most of the other bundles retail for around $5 give or take a few dollars (apart from the Daily Indie bundles that only cost $1.49 for six games), but you can pay as little as a dollar for some. There are some excellent bundles out at the moment. Check out the following:
Groupees (5 bundles)
Indie Gala (6 bundles)
Humble bundle (2 Bundles)
Indie Royale (2 bundles available)
Bundle Bandits (0 bundles)
Blink Bundle (0 bundles)
Play Injector (1 bundle)

Games Rage (0 bundles)
Flying bundle (0 bundles)

The free game from Origin has changed to Ultima 8 Gold Edition. It's been optimised for todays computers. Well worth getting, especially if you are into classic games. Check it out HERE.
You do need a free Origin account and install the Origin client to get these free games. A Request for helpl>:

Developers rely on good feedback to improve their games. If you download this game please take some time once you’ve played it a while to leave some constructive feedback either positive or negative. The more constructive feedback we get, the more likely developers are going to give more games away. The giveaway site already has a very good standing with the search engines. Developers want their products out there on the WWW, this site has the potential to do that. The game giveaway project gives away on average between 9 to 17 thousand downloads for each game depending upon what genre and how obscure the game is. That’s a lot of homes these games are being downloaded into and a lot of 'potential' cash that’s being lost by the developers. If we get better games because of better feedback, the community are likely to continue to benefit from the generosity of the developers. Satisfied community members are then more likely to visit the home sites of those developers and purchase games that they may not have bothered with before they discovered the developer via the game giveaway site, thus giving the developers more incentives to give away even more decent games.

Please leave some feedback once you’ve checked the game out. It can be positive or negative, but please explain what your reasons were for the feedback you post. You could also leave suggestions for improving the game, for example, this game could do with more block types for the levels editor, add more power-ups, describing the ones you think would be suitable, add some mini games (which seem all the rage in some arcade games now) or enable the user to be able to change the in game music easily.

Thank you in advance to all those who take the time to post a constructive comment, and a big thank you to immanitas games for sharing and to the game giveaway team for getting these games.

Regards

Whiterabbit aka Stephen
