Cubetractor was available as a giveaway on August 8, 2015!
Cubetractor is a neo-retroesque action-strategy-puzzle hybrid where you defeat enemies through an unconventional cube-pulling, turret-building mechanic. The game carries elements of a reverse tower defense and a grounded bullet-hell dodger to deliver a unique gameplay experience presented in a classic top-down perspective.

This game doesn't deserve so many thumb downs.
It's a great game! :)

Thank you Immanitas and GGAOTD, I love puzzle games like this, retro style or otherwise. My 65 year old fingers, coincidentally the same age as the rest of me, can get a bit tired, but I still like to play Commander Keen and Supaplex and other keyboard based games, so it keeps me in practice. :)

Have fun WhiteRabbit. You will need to post pictures and tell us how much fun you had!
Personally I had rather have the personal touch than some generic review!
Keep up the comments!

"...free for our visitors as a time-limited offer."
Not certain if this means we get the game free for a limited time (which is the norm for this site) or we get to play the game free for a limited time.

Kind of a cool little game, but my big problem is that I have carpal tunnel, and can't play for long. I wish it had mouse control.

Hey WR,
THANKS FOR THE GAME!!! I'm tired of all the movie clip games, frankly, keyboard controls are just fine with me!!!
Keep rocking the NON-Steam games!!! That steam-crap is slow & bloated, in addition to calling home to mommy just so I can play something I BOUGHT!!!
I like the retro nature of this game...reminds me of the 2600 games, then I have to go get my 2600 out of the box & get my 8 bit fix on!!!
Cheers! Keep them coming!!!
p.s. I'm a Linux engineer as well as a M$ engineer (software)...

I just want to say, and I am confident I speak for the majority when I say so, that most of us greatly appreciate the time you put in here and your comments! I hope you are having a great time!

Cute little guy, but I'm not so good with arrow keys. Poor coordination! I kept getting hit by the cubes and the bad guys. However its a likeable game so I'll just try to improve my skills for a while. Thanks to all for this little diversion.

Actually a very nice game, gets too difficult to me, eventually. Has an idea, not only bells and whistles.

I can not activate today. I'm getting a message that I have never
gotten before, "Unable to connect. Try again later".
My internet connection is fine. Everything is working fine.
I'm shocked because I've never gotten this response before.
Is the Activate/Setup corrupted or have a issue with it's connectivity?

Very well put Scott!
And to Whiterabbit, we do appreciate your comments very much!

You mean this giveaway has a time limit built in the software?

Back in the 1980s I used to write games like this for the old 8 bit machines (Commodore and Sinclair/Timex machines). Trouble is, it is no longer the 1980s, things have moved on and we expect at least mouse control. Being forced to use the keyboard makes the game well...rubbish!

This is a really good, 360 controller compatible, retro style, indi game. I have it on Steam too - just be prepared to restart levels a lot because the game, wile it's easy to pick up, can be frustratingly hard :)

Played before in giveaway. Not a fan. First few levels are ok as you get a feel for gameplay. But then becomes matter of replaying a level just to understand what is required to win since isn't always clear where to place your little guy to avoid the turrent things. Got too annoying to rerun the path structure up to point where died, then try on from there. Prob ok for die hard strategy types who can deal with a basic graphics look. I need more eyecandy & twitch than this offers. For fans 8.5/10. For general 7/10. Thanks GOTD.

Well, perhaps because this game actually demands some thinking, and not a mindless clicking only - which is enough in the case of the great majority of HOGs or Match 3. ;)
Pity, though, it's so old-fashioned game - in the terms of technical aspects: visuals, FX, etc. :(

lol, ever notice every single one of his posts starts with "sorry, can't do my usual post today because (fill in the blank)". Mate that IS your usual post. If you can't post, don't post, we don't need to know everything going on in your life.

This is the first time my antivirus (Avira Free version 15.0.12.408) has triggered on a Game Giveaway of the Day. The detected virus is PUA/InstallCore (Cloud), identified with a Low damage potential. Appears to be a false positive, but you might want to notify Avira (and other vendors) to get the Giveaway of the Day installer cleared from virus detection.

I'm really surprised to see this game getting so many downvotes. I bought this on Steam months ago, and it's a really good game.

I am NOT impressed with this game at all. Mouse does not work. Archaic keyboard control. Installs Adobe Air 1.0. Rudimentary graphics. Poor gameplay. No real storyline. Not engaging. First thought when starting is "Seriously?". Very disappointed, even with it being free. Not worth the space it takes up on the drive. Will not keep.

Looks like a good game! Thanks GGOTD and Immanitas Entertainment!
This would be a better link for the author site rather than the one listed above by the Giveaway team as I couldn't even find a page for the game on that site:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/235720/
Not even going to try the regular giveaway today as I'm not a fan of extended trial giveaways...

a Request from Whiterabbit

Sorry guys had no other way of posting a message to the giveaway site. I can’t access my forum account and the only place I can access the internet at the hotel I’m staying at is at the reception desk and even that is sporadic. If I don’t manage to post a message over on the game giveaway tomorrow, would someone please post a message just to let everyone know I’ll be unable to moderate for the next two weeks. We’ve got a couple of decent games this weekend. :)
To the Owners or a forum Admin (Graylox)
If one of the owners or admins for the forums reads this would you please email me my password. I have memory problems due to a serious rta several years ago. Until the day before I left I’ve accessed the forums every day for the past 8 years with no problems, then on Tuesday I woke up and couldn’t remember my password. I’ve tried to re apply for a new password, but for some reason, the promised emails never arrive at my email.
signing out till the 20th August.
regards
Whiterabbit
