I really liked this game alot... until I discovered I only had a 1 in 10 chance of winning each level because of the jokers knocking it all down. There ought to be a strategy or at least a menu option to stop the jokers. Maybe it's my PC's random number generator or something, but it consistently takes at least 5 tries to clear a level, only because the jokers keep coming. In one game, I got 5 jokers (and two of the exact same card - a jack of diamonds, I think). So sadly, I cannot call this a good game, at least not until it is more fair.

I download GOTD games daily, and really appreciate them. Some are good, some are crap - hey, that's life.

I need to comment on this game, as it appears to be one that 'slipped through the net'. My 7 year old daughter had just started playing the card game, and shouted out to me - "Dad, come and have a look at this card game - it's special, you can get the women to take their clothes off!". I was horrified. I don't blame GOTD, however I do blame the makers of this game. They should either immediately remove this option, or put say an 'M' rating on the game. There was no indication in any of the blurb for the game that my 7 year old daughter would see drawings of a woman without any clothes on.

Needless to say, the offending game has been removed from my computer.

It is actually also partially the responsibility for ANY business such as GOTD to notify people of offensive software. It is just good business practice, and although I appreciate what GOTD does and how they carry out their business in most ways, I did not appreciate the somewhat hidden nudity in a seemingly innocent game.

It is quite different then the other card games I have played before.

As far as people complaining about the nudity in this game, it is you , the parents responsibility to check whether a game is appropriate for your child or not. GOTD just provides the games at random each day :)

The play of the game is interesting and fun. However, there should be the option to set parameters to keep people from becoming frustrated by conditions beyond their control. For example, you should be able to set:

1) no jokers
2) only one joker
3) take back one move
4) discard one card

Things like that, that the player can turn on or off before playing. I personally don't see the point of losing the game (by drawing 2 jokers). Also, you should have a countdown of how many cards are needed to complete the structure, so it is easier to decide whether to collapse part (by putting a higher combination on top of a smaller one). Then people could turn the counter on or off, depending upon whether they want the challenge of computing that themselves. Just my opinion, but why not, if it makes it appeal to more people?

#37, You were supposed to activate it before running setup.exe. I would suggest, you uninstall, then reinstall, run activate.exe FIRST, then run setup.exe.
As for the game, the music is Saturday night restaurant piano music. Very boring to me. I will turn it off. I also need to learn why my cards keep crumbling!LOL It is a fun game to play. Had I not read about the erotic card to begin with, I don't know that I would have noticed it before playing. I do not have children at home, so I don't pay as much attention to that as I probably should. It is a cartoon drawing, but it also is a very distinct drawing and I can understand why some people might not want their children exposed to that as of yet. That said, I think the game is a lot of fun and am looking forward to playing it.
Thank you for the opportunity to try new games GGOTD!!!!

Hey all,

This game is a nice little distraction. It will take you a few minutes to figure out some of the basic strategies, but if you have a little patience it's worth it.

I enjoyed the music.

Thanks!

A word to the Double Games team:

By arrogance or oversight, Double Games bypassed the filters and protocols designed to protect my grandchildren from imagery that does not meet our standards or compliment our family values. Your decision to include such images amidst cartoon figures was a bonehead-variety sales tactic; a simple notification to users should have been included with the download.

Until now, this had been a family oriented site that offered software and games for all ages. I felt comfortable recommending the site to my grandchildren's friends and school. Because of this incident, I must remove the GAotD ticker from my certified child-safe web site.

Before I do, I should let you know that I intended to buy 'Tower Constructor' and 'Fishing Trip' for my grandkids this afternoon. Returning to the GAotD site, credit card in hand, I was sidetracked by user posts about nude images on the card game. After a quick verification and prompt removal of the program, I canceled the purchases.

You have squandered two sales and the potential for additional sales. Under those circumstances, you might want to reconsider your business strategy, or should I say the lack thereof.

*****

To the users that posted comments on the nudity: thank you for the heads up .. and a spiffy Navy salute to y'all.

Thanks for the heads up #23. I did install the game and my virus and spyware scans found it clean.....but you're right. There were two new game links in my IE favorites list. Deleted em.
Still like the game despite the lewd card set offerring. ;)

I've downloaded the game, and it does look interesting, although I've only had a brief look at it and played it for a short period so far. I would hardly classify the drawings in the "Erotic" deck as porn, but I do think it would be good if the developer had a disclaimer on the game description alerting people that it's there.

I don't think it's fair to slam GOTD for not alerting people - we are all quite capable of checking the game out prior to allowing kids to see it or use it - ANY game should be checked out before letting kids get to it. It is ultimately the user's responsibility to look the games over first. The game can simply be deleted if the user finds something offensive in it.

While I do think the game looks interesting so far, I also think that it would be helpful if the developer had a more extensive "rules" section. I was stuck at one point, and from what I read in the limited rules that are included I could not see why what I was trying to do wouldn't work. I know I'll figure it out when I have more time to fiddle with the game, but I suspect that some additional information in the rules would likely have solved the problem right away.

Thanks for another nice game, GOTD!

Hello everyone! ;)

Activation and installation nice and easy - game uninstalled for its boredom factor. Honestly, its just so simple and I played for an hour to see if it would become any more difficult.

I do enjoy their other game, "Elite Mahjong" which I found far more stimulating! Thanks anyway DoubleGames, but your software needs to be a bit more challenging than this one. I do hope you stay with us and show us what else you have though :)

Thanks again GOTD team, as always - a superb job, a superb idea with superb staff! ;)

Unusual little game that had me hooked after the first few minutes. It is so aggravating to be bested by inanimate objects! ~grin~

Trying to build a house of cards sounds easy enough, if you remember to build lower levels with a higher denomination than the upper levels .. not always possible with the cards dealt. About the time you think you have it won, a Joker pops up.

A single Joker will blow away the top layer of the house of cards; double Jokers will flatten the entire thing and you must start over ... if you have enough cards left in the deck. The strategy is in choosing the cards efficiently.

There is an element of luck that keeps the game interesting, too.

Both frustrating and fun .. 8 out of 10 for creativity; 8 out of 10 for the strategy involved. It's a good way to exercise the brain cells, folks.

Thanks GAOTD for allowing user comments. All it took was one, letting me know BEFORE I downloaded it that it has porn in it. These user comments sure help out alot when it comes to downloading one of your free games. Sometimes paying for something = a better product because they are bound by law to warn the customer when there is such content. You however, did not. Not a very good thing to do. Makes a person wonder if any of you even look at the games before you offer them. Very sad.

The nice thing about the internet--and this site in particular--is that you have a CHOICE whether or not to download/keep any program offered. If you don't like it, fine. Wait for tomorrow. Just, please, don't berate GGOTD. They are simply providing a service to you and the developers. I do agree that the nude deck is inappropriate in a cartoony game as children will want to play and use the deck. However, if you don't like that kind of thing, don't download it. I know I won't be downloading it even though I've played a similar online version and loved it. There's always tomorrow!

(16) Hans, you act like a 2 year old child who isn't willing to take the time to learn something. I'm surprised you can even read (after all, it's a skill you wouldn't use anyway). How do you even use a computer, since you have to do some work to use one (such as pressing the keys)? If you look in the dictionary under the word "idiot" you will find your picture. I guess while the rest of us are enjoying this great game, you will be outside playing in your sandbox.

I really appreciate the games I have gotten from this site. I am not happy that there is a game offered that has an erotic choice to it. I personally don't want it in my computor but what bothers me the most is that I sent the site to my young grandchildren as a safe site and I am concerned that they may download something with this feature in it. I think this is as dangerous as a virus or spyware in a game. Please reconsider giving a game with this feature in it...a concerned grandmother

It installed and played without a hitch. Yes, I too was surprised at the nudie face cards, a lockout feature or at least a disclaimer in the description or "read me" file might be in order for parents in the USA who tend to expect some sort of ratings system :).

I found the music horrid and immediately turned it off.

I enjoyed the game for a while, but got frustrated with the jokers coming early in the hand. I understand that can happen in cards, but when 5+5=11 I figured I wasn't dealing with a standard deck. It's harder than it looks as you need to place pairs of card relative to other pairs to set up the next move.

After a few games I did get bored and moved on to another game. I may try it again later since there is some strategy involved in card placement - and I do like strategy games.

Double Games, thanks for the chance to try something different. GGotD, as usual, you make my day.

This is not a game for children, as doublegames.com provides the option of a nude woman for the card deck. I am deeply disappointed by GAOTD's support of porn. Doublegames.com is now firewall blocked. This also means that everything from GAOTD must be checked thoroughly before allowing other PCs in this home to install.

I hope people read the comments before they decide this game looks dumb. I downloaded it mostly because my daughter is obsessed with pirates, but then I played it so I could tell her how to play. I never quite figured out the rules because sometimes things worked that I thought shouldn't work, but I could easily get addicted to this.

Developers ~ This is a very cool game!! I shouldn't have tried it until after my chores for the day were done, tho. lol Different, and it makes you think. Good job! Even though there's 5 or 6 different card pictures to choose from, none were that appealing to me. How 'bout animals? Baby animals? Dogs?

Wow what an unusual game that I’m already hooked on and I only downloaded it 40 minutes ago. The kids are looking over my shoulder asking to install it onto their computers, so I'm going to rush through this review because they are pestering me worse than mosquito's at dusk. :)

The look of the game is very cartoony, which you will find throughout the game; however I found it challenging and interesting as a first time player of this game. There are 6 card styles to choose from, Classic, Erotic, Pirates, Gangsters, Japan and Prehistoric. The erotic style may not be to the liking of some parents, but I can assure you the graphical representations are low res, so they look like true cartoon caricatures of nudes. Each to there own of course.

There is a settings menu (as opposed to calling it options) which can actually be seen in all the different selection pages, such as rules and difficulty pages and is always visible even on the pages where you are playing the game, so you can always turn off the music or sounds whenever you like without interrupting your game.

You have the choice of trying out the game with a practice mode which takes you to a menu which enables you to select difficulty from beginner, easy, medium, and hard. The only difference between the difficulty settings is on how high the castle will be (We call it ‘House of Cards’ in the UK) You can also choose the number of rounds to play the game in from 1, 5, 10, and 25. The higher the number of rounds the easier it becomes. Also you can back up to the previous page whenever you want, even when in game, however clicking on back in this case will cancel the game in progress. When starting without the benefit of going through the practice mode, you automatically start on easy, and build up to the harder levels as you progress.

You accumulate points by choosing pairs or cards of the same suite to build the castle with. You can't mix suites unless the cards are of the same denomination (i.e. pairs). You must follow a specific set of rules with respect to placing cards on top of each other, which can be found on the rules page. These are relatively simple, although children may need a little prompting if they are younger than 6 as some of the words may not be easy to read. I checked with my 6 year old daughter and she seems okay with it.
Don't pull a joker as it will collapse the top layer of your castle, two will totally collapse it. :(

The game is a blast and a pleasant change from the usual genres. This has to go into miscellaneous as I don't see it as a card game, lol.

Thank you Double Games and the GGAotD team for another 'fab' game. :D

I would give this a 6 out of 10 because there really isn't much variation in the game play once you've mastered the rules, however it's like most games where you use cards. There's a lot of luck involved. I do like the game, but I can't see myself revisiting it often.

Excellent! A puzzle game different from any other I've ever seen. I guess its closest relative is solitaire, but that's a stretch. This is no ordinary "card game", so don't be put off if you don't like cards. This is a superb workout for the brain, and no timer makes for relaxing play. Another winner, GGAOTD. Thanks again.
