I will not rate this game as I haven't downloaded it. In my own personal opinion, it seems to me that if you have one Wheemplay game you have them all. It gets boring, repetitive, monotone... But my number one problem with this one is: GUNS!!! Not enough tragedies going on in the world to be advertising such games? I've never posted anything negative and neither is this comment. Realistic, in my view, that a family site promoting violence goes against it's own concept. GGOTD should screen thoroughly the games they offer even if they're sometimes hard to get by. Enough said.

They aren't guns, but you could use the same argument against the cannons.

@Swamp Thing. 7. Eeeeeww!!
Cool? That link?
Please never refer to sites that open with (a much too loud, too ugly) noise without warning.
1st I do in this case: close the tab. Everyone I know hates this.
Eeeeeew!!

I really cannot understand all the negatives, as this seems to work OK
I find no problem with either the program, or the download.
It maybe a bit basic but apart from this it is ok
Many thanks to all concerned.

Downloaded the Bristles file and tried to run the Setup.exe file. No success! Got an error message (in Chinese, since I'm on a Chinese Xp sp3 system) which I cannot read. I chose both choices (X, U, quit) without further success. I don't know if maybe the built in zip expander is faulty or what.

Check the FAQ's section in the Game discussion forums (see the sticky section).
I've listed loads of free file archivers. Try unzipping with a different one to the one you are using. That may solve the problem.

Ok Win 8 x64 Pro. 2 screen sizes but not total full size, not a prob.
Flays well, timing can be tricky at first on a few tho get hang of it like just when to turn off laser guns. Short & sweet. Thanks.

I was surprised when Sacha posted links to Wheemplay's site -- the link here always points to a page here so I figured Wheemplay wasn't even in business any longer! Dunno what's up with that. Hope whoever puts up these pages will be sure to post links to the actual developer sites.

Eww! Everything is in a brown shade! That's ugly! Get some color in your games, dudes.

Do the dudes down at the ranch realize that cowboys didn't use cannons? It would be hard to carry a cannon in the holster on you hip and pull it for a quick draw!

And the Bristlies? The dudes says they are "cute and round." Great description! I would have never figured out that they were round while working on my rectangle laptop and drinking from my cylindrical coffee cup. But cute? Seriously? Dudes, they look just like the AIDS virus! Really, it's true.

Games should last more than 15 minutes.

Now, Atomic Puzzle 2 is a REALLY COOL PHYSICS GAME at http://www.match3.com/puzzle-games/atomic-puzzle-2-distribution.html

FISHDOM is STILL the BEST GAME IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE AND EVEN IN THE BUBBLE JUNK COLONIES ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE UNIVERSE!

Sacha

................................Moderator comment.......................

Hi Sacha, you need to activate the game on your home computer. (If you are downloading from an internet cafe, does this mean you don't have a connection at home?) You are supposed to activate the game via an internet connection. 'Not' sure whether you are able to activate at the cafe, then copy the file over to your home computer ;-) ;)

p.s. tried to email you using the email you provided (your account email starting with the numbers a2991451), but it seems that you've used one of those 'pretend emails' ah well, can't really explain here as I'm not allowed to.

Hmmm the 'Nice to know' part was't there

The games remembers the level when leaving and re-entering the game.
But when using Ccleaner with standard settings, the game will be reset to level 1

Enjoy all :-)

Hello Whiterabbit,

Nice simple game, good for the kids and for the kid like older ones, Merci
Installed on two computers without any problems and both run fine.
- Desktop Windows Vista 32 bit
- Laptop Windows 7 64bit.

>>> Nice to know <<>> Tip <<<
Use more colrs on the activated items, so you have nice effects and see easier what items are active or not.

Fun game! When there's many steps til the end of one part of the game, it's frustrating to me if I have to do it over completely 4 times to get it right, but that's just me lately. It's kinda like the game "Cut The Rope" but has different things about it to do. Has enough levels it won't get boring too soon. Thanks for letting us try it! :)

Downloaded/installed fine on Vista 64-bit

Typical Wheemplay game: Nice graphics, fun (if repetitive) music, good physics, simple play, easy to get through.

Really not much more to say than that.

Bristlies:

PicDepict.com

In Brief:

A simple physics based puzzle game with a Western theme.

Installation:

Bristlies downloads to a 16.2 MB zip file that unpacks to a read me and a wrapped setup activation file (the orange colored file with the key symbol), plus there's a setup file with security (setup.gcd) that's protected from being hacked. This file may case some security software to alert the user to a possible malware attack, but it will be a false positive.

The game giveaway team check all game giveaways for malware using several well known anti -malware suites. There has never been a game giveaway infected with malware since the project started back in Dec 2006. The installed game is 10.1 MB in size. and installs by default (with no folder, just an executable) to:

C:\Games\ Bristlies.exe

The install path can be changed to suit whatever your wishes are. There is no uninstaller, but this game is free standing so to delete just remove the installed executable from your hard drive. No shortcuts are installed so you will have to create your own which as most of you know is easy i.e. (right click on the games executable then select ‘Send to’ then from the drop down menu select ‘Desktop (create shortcut) ). If you want to create a start menu/programs folder you’ll need to find the appropriate folders via your account. Once the game is installed you can delete the giveaway setup files.

I've only tested the game on Win 7, Anyone running Win 8, Vista or XP, please confirm whether this game works Thanks.

Introduction:

In this fun physics-based puzzle game you have to move the beastly Bristlies so that they get into containers with the matching color. Cut ropes to free a round creature or cause a chain of another action. Enjoy Bristlies!
Bristlies are cute and round. Bristlies come in an assortment of colors. Bristlies are, in fact, bristly. As they have no legs, they also depend on someone else to send them to their respective boxes where they can nestle down safely. You are that someone. Cut their ropes, switch on the fans, activate force fields and remove obstacles to help the little Bristlies home in this western-themed physics game.

PicDepict.com

The Game:

Bristlies is a physics based puzzle game comprising of 30 relatively easy puzzles where you have to move various colored Bristlies from point A to point B by cutting rope and using a variety of moving platforms, pivoted platforms, cannons, fans and various other pieces of equipment. Land the bristles in a box. There is some skill involved, but mainly its a matter of timing See the videos and images I've posted below for details. The game reminds me of Obulis, a game I purchased some years ago, though the graphics were much more polished in that game.

PicDepict.com

PicDepict.com

Images &Video:

You can see a slideshow of around 70 images (showing all 30 levels HERE

You’ll find videos of game play (spoilers) HERE, HERE (levels 1-14), HERE (levels 15-27
), plus an extra players pack HERE (which isn't included with todays game but can be played online)

Conclusion:

A typical Wheemplay game, far too short ; a game that can easily be played in less than 15 minutes. Still I thought it was a reasonable physics based game. Pity there wasn't a level editor included.

Game play will seem familiar to anyone who has played Cut the Rope and Rich Mine 2. Although the aesthetics have changed, the basic premise is the same: get something round to land in its box. It takes a bit of skill and timing to make sure they don't get stuck, fly off the screen or land in the wrong box. Unfortunately, it doesn't become very challenging until the last several levels, yet it has all the polish and variety of devices needed to rustle up some amusement any time you're in need of a break. So mosey on over for some fun with Bristlies.

Problems:

If you are posting late in the day I would also suggest posting in the main giveaway forums in the game discussion section. If you’ve installed the game but it won’t work for some reason, it should still be registered, so someone may be able to help at another time. Unfortunately if your problem is actually installing it then once the giveaway period is over there’s nothing that can be done until the game is given away again (though that isn’t guaranteed). It’s always worth checking out the free games sites as sometimes the games we get here are also available for free from them. MyPlayCity has the most with over 600 games to choose from. Todays game isn't available from MyPlayCity but is available from loads of flash based gaming sites (see link above in the installation section for a link to a reputable flash site.

Please take care when installing games from free sites such as MyPlayCity (MPC) as you may end up with toolbars and a home page change as well as a change of internet search engine. You have to make sure you uncheck the check boxes during installation and with MPC games at the moment each time you boot up the games.

If you're looking for something other than today's game check the didimatic site via THIS link for some brilliant deals.

There are several other deals available from Steam for example War of the Roses a team based third person action game set in 15th century England. (free weekend plus 75% off, as well as 67% off Mark of the Ninja an indie action adventure as well as around 40 more games with deals ranging from 10% to 75% voff. The latest 24 hour deal is Cave Story+. You'll find many more game deals from Gamersgate, Gamestop, Greenman Gaming and GOG; all of which you can find via the Didimatic site, which I've linked to above (apart from Greenman gaming). Greenman gaming have 25% off pre-orders at the moment, for example you can get Resident Evil 6, which is released in about 3 weeks time for ?5. Also there's a brilliant offer with Bioshock infinite. If you prepurchase it you get two other games for free. the first Bioshock, plus a choice from several other games including Bioshock 2, Spec Op's: The Line, Civilization V, Darkness II or Mafia II, All these games are excellent. I'd recommend Spec Ops: the Line or Mafia II. If you like driving games then go for Mafia, if you l;ike horror go for Darkness II. you can get the Sleeping Dogs Ultimate bundle that contains the main game plus all dlc for only ?5.68 ( amazing deal) plus you may also be able to get an additional 20% off as theirs also a "0% coupon off all digital downloads. Most of these games are Steamworks, which means you'll need to have Steam installed.

To be honest there are too many game deals around too list them all. Just visit the sites I recommend above and I'm sure you'll find something that suits you for a decent price.

The usual monthly free game from Alawars game box is now Sheep’s Quest! You may need to reinstall gamebox if its still showing the previous game. It's supposed to change every month, but some community members are seeing the same game for months on end. Dido suggested that you reinstall gamebox to fix the problem. Reinstalling gamebox shouldn't affect any previous freebies. :). (You need to install the free Gamebox from Alawar to access the free games, which for newcomers change approximately every month). If that's not enough, check out the Game Discussion forums HERE for details of other games either free or on deals such as the Indie Game bundles or the four day sales at IndieGameStand. Also check out the Game discussion forums HERE for details of any Indie Game Bundles that are still live.

The latest IndieGameStand game is Pixelry a pixelated chivalry?! Joust your way to the top in this medieval RPG. A Knight’s Tale with pixels. You can pay less than a dollar for this game, but if you want the extra's (usually game music, manuals etc) you have to pay the average price which stands at $1.42. There's also several indie bundles over at Indiebundle.org. Each bundle has three games and costs $5 each.

A Request for helpl>:

Developers rely on good feedback to improve their games. If you download this game please take some time once you’ve played it a while to leave some constructive feedback either positive or negative. The more constructive feedback we get, the more likely developers are going to give more games away. The giveaway site already has a very good standing with the search engines. Developers want their products out there on the WWW, this site has the potential to do that. The game giveaway project gives away on average between 9 to 17 thousand downloads for each game depending upon what genre and how obscure the game is. That’s a lot of homes these games are being downloaded into and a lot of 'potential' cash that’s being lost by the developers. If we get better games because of better feedback, the community are likely to continue to benefit from the generosity of the developers. Satisfied community members are then more likely to visit the home sites of those developers and purchase games that they may not have bothered with before they discovered the developer via the game giveaway site, thus giving the developers more incentives to give away even more decent games.

Please leave some feedback once you’ve checked the game out. It can be positive or negative, but please explain what your reasons were for the feedback you post. You could also leave suggestions for improving the game, for example, this game could do with more block types for the levels editor, add more power-ups, describing the ones you think would be suitable, add some mini games (which seem all the rage in some arcade games now) or enable the user to be able to change the in game music easily.

Thank you in advance to all those who take the time to post a constructive comment.

Regards

Whiterabbit aka Stephen
