Alright... I'm on my Third time through the game... And the map quit working. >:C First time through the game hiccuped on the hammer. It jurked and the hammer didn't go into my invitory.

The second time through, The boat hiccuped. I'm still not sure what I did, but I couldn't get into the boat to go across the river.

The third time... I got the wrong root, had to go back to re-get the correct one. And guess what! The map got stuck on I had the wrong root! I'm able to keep going, but I'm playing 100% blind on where to go next.

These problems, and like ones, have been in every single 'Mystery Tag" Game I've tried to play. Next time one pops up, I'm not getting it. I want to relax while playing, Not want to kill the computer because the game gets stuck. And it isn't just me, many of my friends download games, and they have mentioned the same thing about this company's games.

I feel obliged to leave a follow up to my previous comment #36. I restarted the game, used the map extensively and did not go anywhere until there was a mark to do so and finished the game with no problems. I think it unusual for a game to stonewall you completely if yo do not do things exactly in order. It is more usual in my experience to have to backtrack until you find some clue or another HOS etc. and then begin again there but this game is not the case. If you follow the steps I did, it should run smoothly. I'm glad because this game had interesting puzzles and was fun to play. thank you again. barb

Thank you again for wonderful free games. This one has problems. No difficulty downloading, installing, started right up. No glitches in the loading of scenes etc. But, I am starting it again for the 3rd time. First time, progressing nicely until after making the 3 formulas for removing the stains on the door, glitch kept saying I needed to make them! no more help in the map or hints. managed to find another HOS and could proceed a bit, then nothing, no hints, no HOS, dead end. Started again, followed the map and numerous hints (to be sure I was on the right track) and could not even get as far as the first game-no hint I could do, no more HOS, dead end. Will start it one more time and then I will delete the game. Too bad. I like the graphics; the puzzles are a nice variety; story line is OK. but when you hit a brick wall and no one seems to be able to help... I have not watched the video on youtube just because of time. I may do it and see if I am missing something but may not really have the extra time for it. too bad. even in the game forums, there is no help for the glitches I run in to. I have been doing these HO games for years and do not usually get blocked like this. it would be such a help if someone that finished the game would do a walkthrough of sorts just for the thread of what to do when. :)

It would not install. After unzipping, ran the setup.exe, said it was installing, but when finished, there was no start menu folder available.

..................................Moderator Comment..........................

Hi pcwiz7,

I usually explain where the game is installed to, but have only just posted a short review about 20 minutes ago due to me sleeping all day.

Most game giveaways do not install shortcuts to either the desktop nor the start menu. This has something to do with the giveaway wrapper. You have to create a shortcut manually. If you look back on last weeks Gardenscapes review I explain how to create a start menu shortcut, though this was for Win 7. Not sure if it would show in Win 8. I'm sure if you goole it, you'll find a tutorial on how to create a Start menu shortcut in win 8.

You need to make a note of where the game installs to, then go to that folder and create a shortcut to the desktop via the games exe file.

If you look at the readme file that comes with the gamegiveaway download you'll find that the game should install to the following path.

C:\GoblinDefenders_Game

That's not a good place for a game to install to. I advise finding the game installation and either deleting it, then reinstalling it to a more suitable place for example the Program files folder or a game folder. Or you can just cut and past the original installation to wherever you wish it to be placed. There are no folders created in the documents folder nor the apps data folder, so it will be safe to move.

please let me know if you suceed. Thank you.

Love that we are getting IHOG's on this site. And some really good ones too! But this one has some bugs. I reached the cellar and there's no mallet to knock the corks from the barrels. I got it. I know I did. And then stopped playing the game to spend some time in my real life. When I got back to the game, no mallet. Game over. I checked & found others had the same problem when the game was first released. Guess they never fixed the glitch. Plus there are several other known glitches that apparently haven't been fixed either. Don't know if I'll bother re-starting this one or not. I found the opening section with the masks quite tedious and was glad to get back to the "real" world. Disappointed when the glitch ended the game for me. Still, the price is right and I love finding great new games each weekend. Keep up the good work! (only with less glitches in the games, please!)

Sublime One, here's a belated but maybe useful answer: the hammer (mallet) is there, it's in the inventory, it's just not visible. Hover the cursor over the empty space on the right side of the inventory line, and you should see the popup inscription 'the hammer'. Go to the barrels and select the invisible tool, it works just fine :-)

Loved this game; still going, but close to the end. Quite challenging in spots, but none of the nonsensical stuff I sometimes see in games like this from another company (Playrix). I did post earlier with a little nitpick but I don't see it here---on a few occasions earlier in the game, I finished the puzzles only to have it not work, and when I caved and went to a video walkthrough, I was surprised to see the poster hit the "skip" button (walkthough authors never do that!) so I'm guessing it's a glitch in the program that sometimes correct answers don't work! But that was just occasional and the rest of the game is going great! Thanks, WR, GGOTD, and Mystery Tag.

I downloaded this game yesterday, then tried to install it. It wouldn't install. I checked how many megabytes were in the download pkge and it seemed right. I tried several times to get it to install, but it did no good. I have absolutely no idea why not. I've downloaded and installed games before with no problems, so I'm stymied. Thanks anyway.

Hi!
Just downloaded and haven't played much yet. Downloaded quickly on 8.1 and no problems starting.
The graphics are good and am moving along, though so far it does seem similar to others, but with a little
more difficulty. Thank you for another good game and hope all who celebrate had great 4th of July!
Hope the shopping goes well!

Hi, I was thinking about something more radical for Giveaway Games occasions (read: Promotions after all!) here regarding large Games only. Game Sites have their own servers and they are rather 'fast', so download Game from there as 'tryout', patch it with GGOTD patcher for one day only:)?

Please forgive my lack of a review and slow moderation today. The weather has been another scorcher. I've slept most of the day away as I couldn't stand the heat. Sort of dozed in between sleeping and watching movies. Not sure whether tomorrow will be the same. Got to go shopping for bedroom furniture in the morning; shopping always leaves me shattered.

Downloaded this morning around 10 am EDT in about 2 minutes, running Win Pro7 32/64, game loaded fine and played pretty well.

Noticed a couple of things....one there is a typo in the village at the mask makers hut....he is laying in the bed not the bad....LOL, that one was funny.

Did have trouble when painting the new mask, could not get the brush to color the eyes. A few of the puzzle directions were a bit murky and a few of the puzzles I just plain had to skip.

Only other problem I had was the first time I entered the attic room the entire game shut down. with a fatal error. Reopened it immediately and it played fine after that. Was a bit disappointed with the ending...seemed to be a bit rushed there at the end and felt sorta incomplete. All over was a decent game, would give it a 7 out of 10. No comment on music or sound as I am usually doing something else while playing and shut them off.

I long ago learned to take negative votes here with a large grain of salt. Too many people vote based on a genre of game not the individual game; so if they do not like HOGs they give a thumbs down to any HOG offered here, etc. This skews the results horribly. If someone does not like a particular type of game then do not download those ...and DO NOT VOTE.

..............................Moderator Comment..............................

I agree. Sadly there will always be those in the community who will give a negative to any game they don't like without even trying it. There has been above average downloads at almost 15 000 so far, with around 4 hours to go beofre the next game is posted, so the game has been received really well, and IMO does not justify the less than 70% score. I do think some are getting a little fed up of HOG's, but unfortunately, the games we get are a reflection of the games that were popular a few years ago. Before HOG's became really popular, with new ones being released almost on a daily basis, Time Management were really popular and beofre that Matv=ch 3 games. We've gone through stages where match 3's were ubiquetous, then TM games, now its the turn of HOG's. On average we still get a decent springling of other genres.

All I can say at this junmcture is that free is free. I was taught as a child never to show disappointment when someone gave me a present I wasn't really into. It was always that the though was more important than the gift. I've lived my whole life with that in mind and have been really grateful for the oppertunity to try genres I would never have bothered with several years ago. Back then my staple was shmups, breakouts and wacky independant games plus AAA games in the form of RPG's, RTS, FPS and TPS's as well as Simulation games and racing games. There's not much that doesn't please me when it comes to games. :)

t may not be his connection, Frak: Stephen mentioned recently that the issue can sometimes be the bandwidth on the GGOTD server at very busy times (= slower connection for everyone).

Thanks for the game this week. I always like to see a HOG.

The letters are hard for me to read in some part of the program. Some of the puzzles are a little confusing. I really couldn't figure out what to do. The help just wasn't specific enough. The plus side to this was the Skip button with the end result. Thank you for this feature.

I love the theme of the HOG and the graphics are wonderful. I love how the help is executed....very refreshing.

Overall, I love the game and will continue playing. Thanks again Mystery Tag and GGOTD.

Have a nice 4th of July....I can hear the fireworks as I type :-)

@hecate - votes are instant whereas comments have to be moderated for appropriate content before being posted so the votes counter will ALWAYS be different than the number of comments especally near the beginning of the giveaway. I would also point out if everyone posted a comment for their vote there would be HUNDREDS of comments to wade through, most surely having the same content, be they positive or negative (like for the same reason, don't like for the same reason). Most people trying to read through all the comments would quickly be frustrated and give up reading the same comments over and over, thus making the comments irrelevant anyway. The surest way to know if a game is worth having is to give it try yourself without relying on the opinions of others who may or may not think the same as you.

Downloaded/extracted, etc fine on Win7/64. Opened to play the first time and it took a LONG time to load. Hoping that was the "first time getting used to the system" and won't be as long the next time. Yay for Mystery Tag. However, this one just isn't as together as previous ones. The font on the lists for the hidden objects is hard to read and the hidden object graphics are just plain hard to see, at least so far. I've played up until Jessica goes back to the Real World/Time. The hidden object in the village was almost all in orange/browns and really difficult to pick out anything out of it. The puzzles ranged from incredible easy to "I have NO IDEA", mostly because the instructions just didn't click. From the previous comments, that seems like a common problem, with people having to resort to skipping. Was VERY glad there was an interactive map - I don't mind some back-and-forthing as long as there is a map, and there is a lot of back-and-forthing... perhaps too much. Will keep playing, but I'm just not as intrigued as some of the other games Mystery Tag has offered here.

It's not unusual for software or games that can use Direct X somewhat heavily, to include a test routine to check the hardware 1st. Normally you don't see this sort of test being run -- you'll see something like a banner screen instead. If it just happened once, I'd guess that you did stumble on something -- if it keeps happening, I guess that it's finding your hardware incompatible in a way it's not sure how to handle. In the latter case I'd try setting the compatibility mode.

Since there are so many people complaining about download speed, I'd like to put in a good word for the download manager which I use, . You can set it up to work with any or all popular browsers, so that when you click on a download link, FDM will pop up and take over the job. It is far more efficient than a browser, as it opens multiple connections with the server and therefore downloads multiple chunks of the file simultaneously. This means your download takes a fraction of the time that it would otherwise. FDM has advanced features for people who love configuring powerful programs, but is also easy to use in an uncomplicated way. It leaves your browser free to do what it does best, and it offers resume support, should your download be interrupted. You'll save yourself a lot of time and trouble by setting it up and undertaking the small learning curve involved, I promise you. Good luck!

Looks like another great HO/puzzle game. I really enjoyed last weeks' offering and this one looks to be similar. HOs have come a long way since the days when we were really just testing our eyesight trying to find tiny hidden objects. Now HOs are just a small component of these puzzle games. The graphics are great and the hints recharge quickly. I'm looking forward to being challenged for another week. Thank you MysteryTag & GGOTD for providing the entertainment!

I've been enjoying the hidden-object games as it is a challenge for me :)

I agree with others, though... something has changed with downloading as I'm on 30mbps speed and it used to only take a few minutes (max) in order to download a game. The past few weeks or so it is very slow. This download is @ 550mb and it's going to take @ 30 minutes. I think the 'hosting site' has throttled download speeds for some reason as there's no reason for it to take this long.

Keep up the good work, GGotD :)

Partway through; download and install went fine, and game seems to work fine. Fun story and challenging enough to keep my interest (maybe a tad too challenging, as I find myself using hints a lot which I usually try to avoid.) My big nitpick is that on some of the puzzles, even when I've solved them very obviously, it doesn't work. So I caved and went to a video walkthrough, figuring I did something wrong, and was surprised to see that the poster of the videos keeps having to hit "skip" on those puzzles, as he seemed to solve it too and it didn't open. For example, in the puzzle of using the stencils to pain the mask, the red wouldn't paint all the way through; in the puzzle of putting the puzzle pieces together, they all line up perfectly and still don't open, etc. So the only way to proceed is to hit "skip" which I almost NEVER do, and which even the poster of the video had to do! Not sure if this is a technical glitch in the game or just me and the video poster both missing something :).

Otherwise, having fun, and really liking Mystery Tag games lately! Thanks.

Sadly I have to say that I didn't enjoy Blue Tear at all. The game concept was appealing, but the execution was disappointing. Murky graphics in the hidden object scenes, poorly designed puzzles, and muddled gameplay. After several minutes of tussling with these issues, I got tired of squinting at the screen, lost interest, and deleted the game from my PC. So, not recommended! Oh well, thanks anyway, GGOTD and Immanitas. I look forward to your next offering with anticipation.

Installed okay under Win8.1 64-bit but I started the game accidentally (while I was trying to rename the shortcut I'd made for it) put my name in, exited straight away and got a very odd grey screen with the program name at top left. Alt-tab to desktop resulted in a messagebox (apparently from the game) asking whether to leave hardware acceleration on or not, and nothing I could do short of killing the process in task manager would make that dialog go away or get shot of the grey screen, which clearly wanted to be the foreground process ever such a lot. I imagine I just stumbled across an odd and maybe untested set of actions but I didn't have the impression GOTD was routinely for beta-testing... :/

I totally agree. I think it shouldn't be so easy to give a thumbs down. I think people should have to check something that says, "Yes, I have downloaded this game and played it," before they get to vote. Of course they can still lie, but it would give pause to the people that vote thumbs down on all the hidden picture games, hoping we'll get something different. But of course, on the other hand, there are people like me who don't vote thumbs down on any of the match 3 games, because I don't like them unless they are really hard. So I would rather comment why I don't like it than actually vote, since there seem to be a lot of people who liked the relaxed mode. I'm just not one of them.
