i downloaded this little game to see. it installs fast & perfect.
i tried the game in Easy Mode. i passed the first levels but after some of them the difficulty increases. for the moment i am at level 12 now i have to retry many times to win.

i hope to see a possibility to cut off the voice of the guy at the start that says "ready to go" for my Neighbours ) it is fun. the kids will be happy with this toy. it is not expensive. thanks very much. fun colorful gameplay plane is very cute (other models as an addon ?) i recommend this little jewel.

thanks & long life for (Game)Giveaway of the Day.

With free apps, you're not the customer; you're the product. The marketing companies hoovering data about you from your phone are the customers; if you block their connection and keep them from scraping your phone the app dev won't get paid.

Hi,

Very good graphics and sounds. Just finished a half an hour of fun and excitement. I will play it again till the end of story :) Overall, it's a very good game (or maybe because I'm just a fan of SHTMUP games). Thanks guys for the offer and please more games of that kind ;)

Installed and registred with ease. I don't have a clue, why someone claims to have found a keylogger in the exe ? I scanned with Malwarebytes Antimalware, Bitdefender Total Security and Eset Online Scanner. To make sure, I uploaded the executeable file to Virus Total, and it was and is clean. Please check in a proper way, before you post such a rant.
The game has 3 different levels : Easy - Medium and Hard. Well, at first it seems almost too easy, but the longer you play, the harder it gets. It's not a great game, but it's just the kind of game, you can play without stress. Quite funny, actually. Thanks for generous offer, PlayJoeWee - and as usual big time thanks to Whiterabbit for review and effort to offer games for free. Greets from Denmark

How can a game be both "Next Generation" and "Retro?" Wouldn't they cancel each other out like the Negative Zone in the Marvel Universe. POOSH, just gone!

What a CUTE LIL PLANE!

But all the SMITHEREENS just gathered at the bottom bottom of my monitor and slowly filled it up as more and more enemy planes were blasted into them until all I had left was one small line at the top where I could see to type this message.

Gonna shake my laptop like and Etch-A-Sketch to clear it back up!

To be honest (am concerned you may accuse me of being dishonest unless i say that) the game seems very good. It works fine in my old laptop that runs Windows 98, and can even be used with an external handle. I give it three thumbs up.

#7: "gameplay is not good, I guess phone games are less demanding?"

Well, you've got much less powerful hardware, you've got a small screen, touch control isn't as precise as a mouse, & many just want to kill 3 or 5 or 10 minutes while waiting for something like a pizza or the bus. Simple games like this can sometimes earn developers the most money through ad revenue -- the magic formula seems to be to make them frustrating [which this one apparently is not] so people keep trying to beat it, e.g. the infamous Flappy Bird.

Last week's game was done with the Unity SDK [haven't checked this one yet], which is designed to be somewhat hardware agnostic. With Windows they're not all the way there yet, & mileage varies depending on your hardware setup.

The simplistic cartoonish graphics and mouse control did not encourage me to try this out. I thought maybe it would make more sense on a phone, say, when I'm travelling or waiting for something and have some time to kill. So I clicked the link to the Google Play Store and the android version of this game is free all the time. Checked permissions, as I always do before installing anything on my phone, and it requires full network access. What for? It's not a MMOG, just a simple shooter. It doesn't even have a 2 player online game option, does it? So why does it need any network access? Since I have Comodo Internet Security for android on my phone I know it is possible to ban network access using the firewall. Then all such games usually stop working. Why, if they don't transmit any private/sensitive data from our phones? Or don't they? Just wondering .... :-)

I've noticed you can go back and replay any level you've already played (use the L/R arrow keys at the menu). So if you're having trouble with a boss, replay a few easier levels to upgrade your weapons, then return to the boss.

FWIW, animation is quite smooth on my system (Athlon 64x2 3.0, HD5670 ...not exactly state of the art).

gameplay is not good, I guess phone games are less demanding?

Installed fine on Win7 x64 Ultimate. One the start up screen, look for what looks like a gear wheel on the top right of the screen. Click on that to be able to change the volume of the game and of the music.

Installed pretty easily because its like a portable exe file. Played the game once and deleted all the files. This game is not worth the HD space. Not only ist it silly to have this plane following the mouse pointer but you dont really get to move the plane around much.
I've played better. Go to miniclip.com and play the red baron. Graphics are better there.

A side scrolling shooter apparently designed for iphones (you're instructed to "tap" things in the menu), it installed and plays well in full screen (1680x1050) in Vista 32. Only options are volume for effects and music, and three levels of difficulty. All control is via the mouse.

You move your aircraft, which shoots continually, up and down and back and forth on the screen over various comic book landscapes as you shoot some enemies and dodge others in increasingly difficult levels. There are temporary power-ups and megaweapons dropped occasionally, though you'll usually take damage going after them. You earn money based on enemies destroyed and your lifeforce lost, between levels you can buy better weapons and better ammo, more life, etc. You keep whatever weapons you buy from level to level but if you lose a life you lose a weapon also (I spent thousands upgrading my guns and ammo, then lost it all on one boss ...on easy difficulty). Most levels last a minute or so, except bosses, which last til either you or the boss are eliminated; so this is a good game for passing a few minutes.

Cute graphics, decent sounds, simple gameplay - definitely a thumbs up from me.

Don't install this game! Into the executable file, there is a hidden keylogger!
Be attention!!!
I think it's not a good reputation! Thanks!!!

The game giveaway team use several well known malware suites to check all game giveaways. There has never been a game giveaway released here with malware attached since the giveaways inception back in Dec 2006. What software did you use that detected the keylogger?

Downloaded/installed fine on Vista 64-bit

It's a phone game. I played it on my PC, but I can't imagine it being better on a phone.

The graphics are simple and clean, a nice cartoony look with bright colors. The music and sound effects are good too.

Gameplay itself was boring. The plane shot constantly and automatically, and all the player has to do is move up, down, forward, or backward to shoot enemies or dodge bullets. There are a few power-ups that could be used during the regular parts, but not against the bosses.

The resolution was wrong for my monitor and I there weren't (or I couldn't see) any options to change it or the volume. At least a couple inches were cut off, but then, it's not meant to be played on a PC.

So overall, it looks good but isn't much of a challenge.

Somehow not possible to (auto)extact the file. What is going wrong here?

Hi Morten, try using a different file archiver to unpack the zip file. I'v posted several in the FAQ's thread over in the game discussion sticky section of the forums. (Linked to the thread in my short review above)

5 big air war

Introduction:

Big Air War - control a cute plane. Shoot all the enemies that stand in your way. Pick up different bonuses and make upgrade your firepower. Battle powerful bosses. Destroy numerous air enemies in this colorful game. Attack the enemy with machinegun fire, conventional or special attacks such as fireballs, laser beam, electric field, etc.

Game features:

Colorful graphics
Simple controls
Plane upgrades
Different special attacks
10 different bosses

The Game:

Big Air War is another game ported over from android games. It plays like a retro arcade game, but lacks refinement. Think of it as a side scrolling Galaga with Red Baron like planes.

Big Air War has decent play but is relatively undeveloped. You are the pilot of an old school propeller plane on the left, and enemy craft appear on the right. Just fly around the screen, blasting everything in sight and trying not to take any slugs yourself. The opposing craft are part futuristic, part retro warfare. It’s fun to weave and dodge around the screen while blasting everything to smithereens. The gunfire happens automatically, and there are some cool power ups; just fly over them to activate.

The graphics are brightly colored. The animation is decent but choppy; the plane’s flight and handling doesn't have great flow but the controls are responsive. Presentation is a little crude and needs refinement but I like the look overall and it does a good job of creating this fantasy world.
There are a decent number of levels but the game could certainly use more. The play is a little thin as is, but does remain engaging. I think kids would love this because it’s simple and inviting, while true gamers will appreciate the retro throwback.

You'll also find some excellent deals over on the following Game sites, some of which have summer sales on.

GreenManGaming
Gamersgate Summer Sale
GOG
Desura
Gamestop
GameFly

To be honest there are too many game deals around too list them all. Just visit the sites I recommend above and I'm sure you'll find something that suits you for a very decent price. If like me you prefer Steamwork games, many of the above sites also sell Steamwork games.

If that's not enough, check out the Game Discussion forums HERE for details of other games either free or on deals such as the Indie Game bundles (there's over 20 of them - If you purchased all of them you'd be paying around $80 for around a thousand dollars worth of games); or check out the four day sales at IndieGameStand. I've not updated the Indie Game bundle thread for some time, but the links provided will still take you to the appropriate sites. you can find the thread HERE. Also check out HERE link for a list of all current bundles.
The latest IndieGameStand game is Cubetractor a neo-retroesque action-strategy-puzzle hybrid where you defeat enemies through an unconventional cube-pulling, turret-building mechanic.

The game carries elements of a reverse tower defence and a grounded bullet-hell dodger to deliver a unique gameplay experience presented in a classic top-down perspective.
The latest Daily Indie game is 'CT Special Forces' a a physics based FPS game. You can get two keys if you pay more than $1.22 (at the time of writing); (one for a friend or family member perhaps?). There's also a DIG bundle (number 8), that contain the following games (Memories of a Vagabond, Bionic dues, A Valley without wind, Lightfish, Crystals of time and Hacker Evolution Duality - all come with Steam keys).

You'll find those deals HERE.

Most of the bundles retail for around $5 give or take a few dollars, but you can pay as little as a dollar for some.

A Request for help:

Developers rely on good feedback to improve their games. If you download this game please take some time once you’ve played it a while to leave some constructive feedback either positive or negative. The more constructive feedback we get, the more likely developers are going to give more games away. The giveaway site already has a very good standing with the search engines. Developers want their products out there on the WWW, this site has the potential to do that. The game giveaway project gives away on average 9 to 17 thousand downloads for each game depending upon what genre and how obscure the game is. That’s a lot of homes these games are being downloaded into and a lot of 'potential' cash that’s being lost by the developers. If we get better games because of better feedback, the community are likely to continue to benefit from the generosity of the developers. Satisfied community members are then more likely to visit the home sites of those developers and purchase games that they may not have bothered with before they discovered the developer via the game giveaway site, thus giving the developers more incentives to give away even more decent games.

Please leave some feedback once you've checked the game out. It can be positive or negative, but please explain what your reasons were for the feedback you post. You could also leave suggestions for improving the game, for example, this game could do with more block types for the levels editor, add more power-ups, describing the ones you think would be suitable, add some mini games (which seem all the rage in some arcade games now) or enable the user to be able to change the in game music easily.

Thank you in advance to all those who take the time to post a constructive comment.

Regards

Whiterabbit aka Stephen
