I already beat it... twice. =o( Should have more levels, or easy, medium, difficult. Love the game though, still playing it, working on beat number three lol. Strangely addictive, endless play is fun too, trying to outscore yourself. I check the site everyday to see whats new, keep it up, really fun for us.

I download, installed this and got a message confirming activation. When my daughter went to play it yesterday, it said it was not activated. What gives?

I went through points 1-5. To prove it, I will quote directly from my review:

#1 - It's a slightly-improved clone of Diner Dash.
#2 - Okay, maybe I didn't mention that. But you wouldn't either if you hadn't had to play yesterday's "game".
#3 - I said yes to that.
#4 - I said yes to that.
#5 - I specifically said that people who like Diner Dash will like it even more.

And I basically said everything else that you said(minus the bit about complaining, since it was a review). You're mad because I deducted points for the game not being original enough? I actually said that it was better than the score suggested, what more could you want? Maybe I should weigh the scores differently?

Since I couldn't find your general point, maybe you could upload an example review?

#54 TexDiver, sit down and be quiet. Ordinarily your comment would be 'applicable', but not today. The vast majority of today's game commenters have downloaded, installed, and played this game, and are enjoying it. Actually, I don't think anybody is paying attention to the comments where folks are wondering why they are complaining about a free game they just got handed to them. Well, granted the game IS free, but only for the current day. Would they have the same beefs if they had purchased the game? Probably so; folks like me would want to know if a game is likable/playable before they spend hard-earned money for it, especially if your games budget is slim to none.

#57 and #42 -- run the "Activate" feature in the zip file before you run the game.

Lockett -- a better written review, today, but you're still too hard on these games. The questions you should ask are:

1) What is this game like?
2) Does the game perform well?
3) Is the game of a professional level of quality?
4) Is the game FUN?
5) What sort of person would enjoy this game?

I don't like the Dynasty Warriors games, because I find them dull and repetitive. I feel the same way about games like Kingdom Under Fire, Ninety Nine Nights, Devil Kings, and anything else that imitates the "Hack. Slash. Repeat." formula. But by the same token, I have friends who love Dynasty Warriors 3, 4 and 5 and who will buy any game like them. Sure, those other games are derivate, often with the same flaws, but certain people just can't get enough of them.

The same rule applies to clones and knockoffs. Today's game is an enhanced clone of Diner Dash. It's not even a knockoff-- it's officially licensed. And it's just as good as Diner Dash; anyone who enjoys that series will enjoy this Snowy adventure. So tearing it down because you feel it's an unimaginative clone of a great game isn't helpful to the people who like Diner Dash because they're going to want to download and play it anyhow just to see what's different.

Judging by the comments on this thread, at least half the people have never played Diner Dash before, so it's a novel experience. And many of those who have are reporting that this game is funnier and moves a little bit faster. The folks who are whining are the same old folks who always whine about "kid's games," even though almost every other game offered by this site in the last few months has fallen into that category.

Compared to yesterday's atrocious Santa Claus game, Snowy's Lunch Rush is a masterpiece. And even as a $20 game, it's a good value for people who like this sort of thing. I'm even happier to have it for free.

WR -- 8 out of 20? You meant 8/10, right?

#42 & 57, there is no key code; when you open the folder, click first on the activate icon, unzip all files, click again on the activate icon, then finally click on the setup icon. If you first click on the setup icon, you will get only the demo. You might try reading the "readme" file...

I don't get why there are some people (especially the early posters) who classify this as a "kids game". It's loads more challenging than many (or most) "adult games", as it requires you to make a lot of cost/benefit analysis & logistics choices. Near the 1 month mark, you reach the point where you just can't please everyone, and you have to make a call b/w who to you take. Add in the challenge of "matching colours" (albeit it is frustrating/unrealistic) & I'd be surprised if any "kid" makes it past the 1 month mark.

Don't judge a book by its Cover; if you're going to critisize the game AT LEAST TRY IT OUT!

...and you gotta admit, seeing Snowy running around has to put a smile on your face.

Well, I have Diner Dash 1 2 and 3, and this is just as much fun! Even more because Snowy moves faster than Flo. It is so cute when he sings (if you can get time to get him on the stage, anyway), and he actually gets breathless from all the running around, as you can see on his belly! LOL!!!
Great clone of Diner Dash, thanks to AliasWorld and Alawar; and also my thanks go out to GGAOTD!

ATTENTION C.A.V.E. People!!! (that stands for Citizens Against Virtually Everything) Folks, you aren't paying for this game, so if it isn't the type of game you like, don't download it....but don't sit here and bash GGOTD over and over again because you aren't getting the games you think you 'deserve'. This site isn't called 'game entitlement of the day' and yet some of you have that precise idea - as if they 'owed' you something. Well, they don't. They offer something different every day FOR FREE - if it appeals to you, download it, and if not, pass it by. I'm grateful for all the excellent games and other downloads that have been available since I started visiting this site, and even though all the games don't appeal to me, I'm very happy with the games that have, and I appreciate every one of them, because the price simply cannot be beat.

Erm, this site hosts indie games. Go to GameStop if you want big-budget titles.

I hadn't reviewed this game earlier, due to my Internet access being screwed up, but I think that this game is good enough that I'll do a late review.

Gameplay-wise, this is a huge step away from the other Snowy games, as it it a clone of Diner Dash. Normally, I hate clones, but this takes everything that I liked about Diner Dash and leaves what I didn't. For example, Diner Dash's graphics were rather low-budget, and it was hard to tell when to do different tasks. In Lunch Rush, the graphics are much-improved, and customers have large speech-bubbles when ready, making the game easier to play.

For those not familiar with Diner Dash's concept, you play as a waiter(well, Flo's a waitress, but that's beside the point) who has to take and deliver orders, clear tables, and seat customers. In real life, of course, those tasks are handled by different staff members, but that would make for a boring game. The customers are accustomed to sub-30-second service(again, something that differentiates it from actually working at a restaurant), so you have to rush through everything before they get mad and leave. They also come in groups of two, three, and four, so sometimes it's prudent to wait for groups of two to finish their meals before seating others, leaving room at the larger tables. In short, it's a pretty fun concept.

Graphically, as said before, this game does not disappoint. As with the other Snowy games, they're bright, cel-shaded 3D models with smooth animations and textures. Everything is easily discernible(something that could not be said for the drab Diner Dash) and well-rendered.

As with Bistro Stars, sound was a mixed bag. The music is nice, combining acoustic guitars with synth backup, but the "angry customer" effects left much to be desired(the grunting pairs of most likely gay men were particularly damning). The rest of the effects were the standard clinking plates and flatware, crowd noise(the line gets pretty long), and cash-register chimes that anyone who's played the original will find familiar. Thankfully, they chose not to add "swallowing" sounds like in the aforementioned Bistro Stars.

The overall theme and setting, however derivative the rest of the game was, were entirely original(though still narrated in comic-book format). Original and stupid. Here's the basic story - it's a typical day in Bear-Town, when Snowy notices a poster advertizing "The Big Restaurant Contest". Snowy, being a bear of very little brain, decides that he'll make a quick buck by opening a restaurant. But what to do for a building? Amid the perfectly smooth blocks of concrete, brick, and wood that make up Bear-Town, he sees it - the abandoned shack that's there because the designers couldn't think of anything else! He decides to use it, not bothering to take into account how seedy his restaurant looks when it's basically falling apart and has a hastily-made "RESTAURANT" sign affixed haphazardly to the roof. There's other stuff, too, but it's really stupid.

I would have awarded this game a higher score for theme, but it's incredibly derivative, even going so far as to having a little disclaimer saying that "Snowy:™ Lunch Rush™ is distributed under agreement with PlayFirst, Inc., the owner of the famous Diner Dash® franchise." You know you're playing an unimaginative clone when the tutorial has the same wording as the original, the setting is unchanged, and the name is just a different wording of the source's title. Aliasworlds' uncreativity with this game is astounding.

Overall, I give this game a score of six and a half out of ten(eight for graphics, eight for gameplay, seven for sound, and four for theme) - although I wish that I could give it a higher one, it is much too derivative for me. In my opinion, it is a solid clone well worth downloading, hampered only by its many derivative aspects. For those who liked Diner Dash's concept, but found it too difficult, this game is perfect.

Thank you, Ernie LaVallee and Secularsage; I appreciated your constructive criticism very much and hope to have more from you in the future.

I can't remember if I got the game here or bought it last summer , I must say my 12 year old granddaughter loves this game, she can sit here for hours just playing it she likes the business competition I guess but it is hectic and teaches how to deliver on time or lose . again Alwar has given a very good game away, it is very playable .

give us some of the latest games you have next time , I am very greedy and it is Christmas time so give away . I will leave you cookies and milk. I bought two snowey games together for one price and all the kids love them to death , I can't get on my computer unless they are gone .

I was disapointed to see a kid game today.
That aside, I think this is a pretty good game. I was amazed at how fast the customers came in, it's pretty fast paced for a kids game. So far I've only played to the third level, and those customers run in there. Everything downloaded quickly and has run very smoothly. I think people who have beat diner dash would enjoy another similar game to play through.
I sent this link out to a bunch of friends. Thank you for a wonderful service.

This is ANOTHER great Snowy game. My wife is cracking up at the fact she can make Snowy sing and play guitar. She's even singing along with Snowy. The graphix are outstanding. Take a look out the windows to see cars periodically drive by. You can serve customers at the drive-up window, take telephone orders, and serve desserts.

THIS IS GREAT.

It installed and activated perfectly on my WinXP machine and my WinVista machine. The mouse seems to run slower and choppier on my XP machine and I'm not sure why. Probably a resolution setting.

Alawar and GGAOTD you made my wife and kids happy AGAIN and I love to see them happy. THANK YOU!

This is a cartoony and deceptively cute diner dash type of game. At the higher levels it can get pretty frantic. I downloaded it last time around and highly recommend it for those who enjoy the genre. I've certainly had a lot of enjoyment from it since it's first time on offer.

Just because a game features a cute white bear doesn't mean it's just for the kids.

I play this all the time and still haven't conquered the hard level. I got it here when it was offered before and it still challenges me. There are strategies to seating and keeping customers from leaving vs. serving and collecting tips. Developing a rhythm and leaving open tables for VIP's can help with that. This is one even I would have paid for and I can count those on one hand.

Gamegiveaway of the Day and Alawar are very generous, considering the popularity of this one and the quality of the gameplay, levels and graphics.

Thanks guys for the first offer and all the hours I've spent playing this one.

I love this game. We still have it from last time. My wife played it every available minute until she hit a brick wall... We just couldn't beat a level and that was the last of it.... Reservations, drive through, many tables, entertainment, dishes to clean... and those kids just were always to impatient so you lost to much business! Just way to much for one bear to handle.

This game is really worth the money, so many thanks for a chance to play it for free!! I enjoy the Diner Dash games a lot, so this is right up my alley. It's not as kiddie as recent games despite it's looks, because these games can get pretty hard and frustrating on later levels, but I guess that's what makes it more fun!

I know the game is cartoony, but its not just for the kids! The later levels do get faster and more complicated. Keeping all the customers satisfied becomes more and more difficult, so in that regard its much like working in a real restaurant!

Thanks for this game. I have played diner dash etc and this is a very good one. And whether you think it is childish or not, when you get older and need to keep your brain thinking, games like this will do more for your memory and thinking skills then some "adult" shoot em up game. While those games are good for their entertainment they dont take much more than fast reflexes. Im happy with most of the stuff we get here even if i only play it for a bit to kill some time. And if you expect alot of the "adult" games i wouldnt hold my breath, they are worth alot more than $20 and i highly doubt anyone is willing to just give them away, but ya never know. I just ask GOTD try to get something other than the 3 match puzzle games, while they are ok, i am simply bored of them lol. The best puzzle game i think they ever gave away was Atlantis Quest, i just love the music too. I wish i could get it again since the comp i had it on the motherboard fried. Maybe i will go and buy it.....
Thanks GOTD!
