This game rocks! Installed with no problems on Windows XP, has awesome graphics, great soundtrack, and as one progresses, each level has something new and exciting. This has been a long needed refreshing experience for this type of game. I didn't notice much difference between the arcade and realistic modes, but the levels with two and especially four paddles create a notable challenge for what I deem a very fun game indeed. Highly recommend!

Cosmos - thanks for your help - just like the excellent RIP game by White Elephant Games, Audiere.dll had to be replaced.
I notice that you can't just put in ANY old audiere.dll - I tried to replace the older one in RIP with this newer one, and it wouldn't work. I had to go back to the original replacement one !

I was about to give a thumbs down but then I tried Cosmos' .dll replacement fix for vista (comment #31) and it worked! Thanks Cosmos! How on earth did you find that? Very nice game. One of the better of this type.

@50, Marlene,
At start-up, you can adjust the screensize. Try a smaller size and the lower part of the end screen will show. There you can click 'quit'. Happy playing.

Great game but you have to have DirectX installed.
Game froze my PC with Windows XP Pro SP3 and I had to install
Microsoft DirectX 9 like someone above advised. Thanks!
It plays great now. The cool looking graphics are great.
The levels are very interesting and different.
Fast game so it challenges your coordination and speed.
Thanks for the great games and software! :0)

1. I play Egyptoid 2 several times a day - I am like the others, we need some new blood. If Egyptoid 2 ever crashes, will I ever find a GGOTD game I can play again?

2. Egyptoid 2 was a huge improvement over Egyptoid. GGOTD, How about an Egyptoid 3?

3. The Rabbit has done a great job in setting the example. Now that you know how it can be done, GGOTD pick up the pace and find new, bigger, get away from the little girls games, and better.

@ 68[Mamasan] &73[Whiterabbit]:

In order to sense your mouse movements this game (and many others) use a method that enables them to control their mouse cursor(or your bat[s] in this case) without running off the edge of the screen. Key loggers often use this method because of it's ease of development and the control it provides. Basically, ZoneAlarm was trying to say that Ball 7 was trying to use the mouse (and, in a roundabout way the keyboard) so you can play the game.

In short, FALSE ALARM![Note: this should be bolded and italicized]

All this means is that ZoneAlarm is working.
To be honest, I'm suprised that a squared and threatfire users haven't said anything.

I bought this game three years ago and have never finished it. (Partly because I've bought too many other games in the intervening years, so easily get distracted from the game)>

Tried the dll fix for xpsp3 still would not work. Does anyone have a suggestion for getting this to work on xpsp3. Getting the error message on the start page... with this in the report:
AppName: ball7.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: ball7.exe
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0003fcf5
Would really like to get the game working... any help appreciated.

Has anyone else had ZoneAlarm pop up and say that this program is a potential key logger? Do you know if it's true? I haven't granted permission for it to run until I'm comfortable that I'm not open to being spied on. I'd really like to keep this game if it's safe.

Thank you, Cosmos! It's working fine now :)

I was quite disappointed when I got to the site today, to see a repeat of a game that wouldn't work on my system, but thanks to a community member's helpfulness, this game is now working perfectly on my Vista home premium!
Hopefully works just as well on other flavours :)

Hi Cheryl, just copy the downloaded dll file directly into the installed games folder. Allowing it to overwrite the original.

Game didn't run on my vista laptop earlier, but now I own a Eeepc 900hdxp. In a minute the game was over and I got a Pop-up giving me a choice to replay or quit. I pressed replay, but the pop-up didn't go away. This made playing really impossible.

This is a nice game. But it's an another repeat. I'm getting deja vu all over again. The Vista vs XP talk is a smoke screen to cover up this repeat. Who cares if you use Vista or XP? Some people are sucked into that chat and overlook the repeat aspect. I like this game. It's a nice game. But come on GGAOTD..... how long are you going to get by with repeats? Everyone who visits here wants something new. Your recent track record sucks..... unless you like repeats. Most people don't. Can we have something new?

Vista users download the audiere.dll from the link above, install the game (it installs to C:Games), paste the newly downloaded .dll and agree the warning to replace the file, run the Ball7.exe and it will then work fine!

Tried to install on my XPsp3 with Norton Internet Security 2009 and got a tracking cookie warning which I allowed to block. Loads to the start screen and then get the MS warning box that needs to shut down. Not sure the tracking cookie warning was related but concerned so will delete all.

Thanks Cosmos so much for the suggestions re replacing the dll. I use Vista premium and replaced the audiere.dll that installed with the game with the one you suggested in comment #31.

The game now works fine. Only one sniggly little point is that I can't figure out how to quit. When you hit escape a box comes up asking if you want to exit. I tried clicking the box, hitting enter, clicking y , hitting escape again. I can easily escape using the Task Manager though. Might be some other way that I am just missing.

Hey Stephen I was wondering what happened to you last week. I just checked out Fireplanets ant the only games I saw was bullet candy ant the American Magee series for $3.99. Are there any other?. I am a huge fan of bigfish, for games, forums, and outstanding support. I used to like Real Arcade, but they tanked about a year ago and I rarely go there anymore.

Whiterabbit .... and vista users..
audiere.dll comes with the download and is installed in the game directory. YOu have to replace the one that is included with the one from my pointer above.. #31.. Then the game works under Win7 and I strongly suspect will also work under Vista.

Enjoy..

Hi LisaFla, try the arkanoids over at Gametop:

http:\\www.gametop.com

There's 10 of them, at least half of which are worth having. A Ball is the re-named Nuclear Ball, Geometry Ball is actually Elefuns Twinzoid and there's another one that we got from the same developer as Nuclear Ball, (Erse Games) with an Egyptian flavour (Gem Ball I think). All have the browser opening thing at the end when you close the game down, but it's innocuous, with no rubbish installed onto your computer.

Then there's several freeware ones of which I highly recommend Beatball, Hoowaball, Chaks Temple, DXBall, Jardanians, Jarkanoid III, Poing, Powball and Purebreaker 3. There's more, but in my opinion the above are some of the best freeware versions available at the moment. Of those, Beatball, DXBall, Powball and Chak's Temple used to be commercial games (I paid for all of them)

Penny, if you check all the games given away since last year it's about 50% repeats and 50% first time giveaways. It only seems that we're always getting repeats because it's human nature to forget the good bits and remember the bad. (Not that repeats are bad as there are always new community members joining).

Have a great weekend folks.

Ornithos; thanks for posting the reason why I was absent all week over in the forums. I'll Email you soon.

Thanks for the heads up on that Cosmos. I've heard of that dll giving problems before. In fact I have a copy of it on a disc somewhere. Maybe those with Vista could try the fix. The dll file should go in the systems folder I believe?
