Hmm, installed it as non-administrator on Vista 32bit yesterday, and it doesn’t run properly. First time I started it, it killed the video output to my 22-inch widescreen.

I restarted, and this time the game started OK, except that the mouse started scrolling from bottom left to top right of the window. Clicked on Options as the pointer scrolled by, switched out of full-screen mode, and verified that my mouse works fine outside the game window. Looks like it’s a problem with the game itself.

I’ll try switching to OpenGL rendering, see if that helps.

Hi Sherwood, try installing the game from the We group’s web site. The link is near the top of the page. Don’t uninstall today’s game; just install the ‘We group’ version to a different place. Hopefully that will work. If it does, delete the one you got from the giveaway project. If not, try updating your graphics drivers. It sounds like a graphics glitch. Though if you haven’t done a defrag’ in ages that could be a contributing factor. Sorry for the delay in replying; I decided to have an early night.

Hi midori, if it was illegal, there would be many more arkanoid games that have been released over the years that would also be considered illegal. I’ve never seen any legislature to confirm W.D’s statement, so don’t worry about it (I’ve done a little research and can’t find anything to confirm or negate the statement).

Hi JJ2, Sorry, I can’t explain why it’s not working. I no longer keep a copy of Win 98 on any of my computer, though I have considered reinstalling it just to test games on, but haven’t got around to it.

No problems justchuck69, glad you like the game. To be honest it’s a little tame for me, but I’ve got over 200 arkanoid games, so am spoiled for choice. Check out the arkanoid thread over in the games discussion forums. There’s loads more available, including some commercial games that are being given away free via Gametop. Arkanoid: Space Ball does contain most of the elements that I consider make a good arkanoid. I just wish the ball was a little faster and it would be brilliant.

To Mad Ollie, Wow, that’s great. Have you tried the editor yet?

This works(plays)fine, but won’t activate in Windows 98SE. It says it can’t put in the key, for which I had to click Ignore. Now it’s telling me I have just 20 minutes left. (Putting it in compatibility mode for 98 on XP (where it otherwise shows as registered, of course), it does the same thing.)
