"i tried looking at the color of the one before loading, but its not the same color when it shoots out."

For some reason, the cannon changes color. I hope that I helped.

"#27 Lockett, you said “In other words, match-3s are not popular - Bejeweled and Zuma are.” Both of those games are match-3s, though different types, and are popular games. The general complaint is that the people who don’t like that type of game, don’t want to see mostly that type of game offered."

And I was talking about the reason why we get all of these match-3s. It has nothing to do with popularity and everything to do with management.

>Geek Grrl(lesbian?)

"Heck, there’s hardly ANY original games coming out anymore. You could say Half Life, Doom, Unreal Tournament and Halo are “all the same” because they are first person shooters. And there are similarities, but they are all still different."

Games can be in the same genre and be different from each other. One FPS can have great level design and online deathmatch support, while the other can have horrible level design and be restricted to single player. Different FPSs require different strategies - for example, in Doom, all that the player really has to do is blow everything up, while Goldeneye 007 requires careful planning to outsmart enemies. Halflife has the Gravity Gun. Perfect Dark has the Laptop Gun. These games all differ greatly in gameplay. Match-3s, however, are, for the most part, simple repetitions of clicking, matching, and watching sparkly animations - there isn't much difference between them except for graphics and occasionally non-square levels. My point is that match-3s don't have nearly the variety that other genres do. You say that "not all match 3 games are alike", I say that about ten match-3s are different.

"But mostly this is just about whiners complaining. It’s not enough to get a FREE game, it has to be something THEY want."

Read the comments for the DoubleGames, erm, applications("game" doesn't really describe them) and then tell me that the people who hate them(99%) are all "whiners" because the...uh...programs aren't "something THEY want". My point in this comment is the same as that in my first - if a game isn't all that good, people can certainly say what they think of it. This game has dated graphics and gameplay, and is a "sequel" created by slapping a different logo on a game that was probably released a week earlier. That's not "whining", it's the truth.

I only get here a few times a week at most - kicking myself on missing some of the good games that were available.

This one is unfortunately not one of them. It is not bad per se but he voice has got to go >.<

Game play is simple and repetitive and for most of the modes expected.
For this version of the clone of a clone of a clone (oy vey) the only things new (?) would be some of the colouring and details of the bals/bubles/stuff. The puzzle mode is not all that different from the arcade modes.... I really don't like my puzzles with time limits, they cease to be puzzles.
My suggestion on the puzzle section is a score based on how many bubbles it takes to complete with a bonus for time taken - yup low score wins XD

Hows that for a creative suggestion as opposed to whining? =P
Have fun, download and delete what you despise.

#15 Laura--I agree! For one thing, not all match 3 games are alike. I never thought I'd be interested in playing this type of game, then I downloaded Motezuma's Treasures by Alawar. I also love Quest for Atlantis. So sometimes a game is worth downloading because just because it's the same genre

Heck, there's hardly ANY original games coming out anymore. You could say Half Life, Doom, Unreal Tournament and Halo are "all the same" because they are first person shooters. And there are similarities, but they are all still different.

But mostly this is just about whiners complaining. It's not enough to get a FREE game, it has to be something THEY want. There's a lot of games, including this one, that aren't for me, but how many games do you really NEED? If every game that came out was something I wanted, my hard drive would be full by now!!

#12 Barbara S, along with the fact that your comment context is something we all read here every single solitary day, and is soooo redundant I will add this to #20's (Lockett) comment, and that it is only free for one day; after that it is full price. Would you want to pay full price for something you just read a bunch of negative comments on?

#27 Lockett, you said "In other words, match-3s are not popular - Bejeweled and Zuma are." Both of those games are match-3s, though different types, and are popular games. The general complaint is that the people who don't like that type of game, don't want to see mostly that type of game offered.

Sure would like to hear more likes & dislikes about the games and less likes and dislikes about other peoples comments about their likes & dislikes of the games.

That said....I was really happy to see AB2 cause I hoped it would be better than AB1 but other than some extra options, game styles etc. it works just like AB1. Basically you can't get real far into the game....and naturally you can't save. So if you don't like AB1 you more than likely won't like AB2.

Thanks GGOTD cause if you hadn't offered it I'd never know.

I look at the type of game to decide if I want to download it. Then I read comments good and bad. Do 8 people have trouble running it with Vista or 5 people find the graphics awful. Maybe besides the thumbs up and down buttons there could be another 1, for just don't like this type game. That would send a message to the company and not clog up the comment space for those looking for some advice on if the games worth the download.
I try most games and since I have a new computer usually don't mind the repeats. My 5 yr. old niece liked it. I found it okay for 15 mins. of play. It loaded fine, but there are better games out there.

@#15 Laura: You took the words right out of my mouth.

I always have a look at the comments, because I want to know if there are any problems/incompatibilites with the software, if it runs under Windows Vists (although it is not mentioned in the system requirements), what the gameplay is like (the short description of GGAOTD is sometimes .. hmm.. we would say "blumig" in german.. the big story around is told, but not the purpose of the game) and so on.

If I don't like a genre like 1st-person-shooters I don't download it, but I should not complain about it I think.

GGAOTD, thank you for your work, I love your offers and visit your site every day.

Well the game is cool for nice kids who do not complain...
but the interface is ofcourse cool...
And
For the people who are complaining about the complains... Remember guys this is the comments corner everyone who find the game is not worth the price should tell everyone.. other things like if any other game is better than this game.. so, everyone should know... Even if the website is free this is a method that everyone should check a software which is a comercialization for that brand too. If that brand come to know, so they would improve.
Sometime keys are not working so you should complain because dial-up user like me can know whether the problem is solved or not so people should not waste their precious time, even if its free. And if these type of comments helping GAOTD team to check the problem is and its depend of them as they are here to serve :P

Well-said, but I disagree. The sad fact is that only the large companies like PopCap, Reflexive, and Alawar make any real success off of match-3s. When the smaller companies decide to market their own clones of clones of clones, though, it's a pretty stupid decision, as nobody will notice them. However, if a game is original, it will get press, no matter what company makes it. Sadly, the people who make these games are afraid that people will not buy games that they're unfamiliar with(in other words, that they haven't already seen a million times), so they stick with the same broken business model.

In other words, match-3s are not popular - Bejeweled and Zuma are. It's just that the marketing guys for smaller studios don't understand that.

I didn't respond to your comment in my last one because it hadn't gotten through at the time.

In this release, you are also able to change the balls to different looks, ie... Zodiac symbols, lol. I still don't care for it, as game play is still very sloppy. Looks like the only thing they changed were the options. I like Realore, but this game is from 2003.\

#20 - Agreed absolutely on your views on the comments section.

I understand that some ppl go overboard and comment on the site itself or whatever it is but THE game and I think it's not helpful... but comments on THE game ought to be encouraged - whether good or bad. In fact, as #15 rightly put it so, our comments actually provide some indicator to the popularity of the games!

It really doesn't help the developers if everyone just hold their tongue when the games are bad and heap loads of praises only when the games are good. - Maybe some additional comments on WHY you find the game good or bad would be helpful.

As BuBBy said, there's really no point in my reviewing this game, as our reviews of its prequel are just as applicable.

"I am absolutely amazed at the amount of people that do nothing but complain about some of the FREE games that are offered.
If you dont like the game dont download it.

The site is offering FREE games, or maybe you missed that."

The point of the comments section is for people to voice their opinions on games, whether they are positive or negative. If nobody was allowed to complain, there really wouldn't be a point in having it, would there? Besides, several people make the decision to download or not download a game based on others' comments. Just because a game is "FREE" doesn't make it any good.

Colored balls advance towards you as you try to shoot them out. If you don't make at least a group of three of the same color, eventually the balls get too close and you loose. There is of course, more to the game than this.

There are good control options, several different styles of play, and choices of nice clear graphics. It's good choice for someone who's never played this type of game since it has so many things packaged in one.

I say try it. You can always uninstall if it isn't fun or you get bored after exploring all the games a bit or you can't deal with the little guy who cheers you on every so often. I have Phantasia 2 given here in the past, and found this waaaay to simplistic so I didn't keep this one.

Installed and played with a Microsoft trackball without a hitch on Windows XP, but didn't seem to come in it's own "envelope" I think it's called? I installed it to the folder I put all my Game Giveaway of the Day stuff in, but the individual elements like READ ME, UNINSTALL, ICON etc. came up separately. The game played fine though. Thanks to the team though for the continuous access to the free shareware games from Realore Studios.

I personally like the game -- though I dn't really like match 3 that much --this is a great quick escape from reality and in 5 min. I can do several levels
as said by someone else --dn't like it dn't download it

I dn't like the annoying piano playing at the end of each level though -- wish he would change instruments -- lol

but hey free is free and I do have an off switch on my speakers

I have been downloading games from GGOTD for almost a year or so now and I have one qualm. I rarely leave comments which is quite hypocritical of me, so I will do my best to start doing so. The people who are CONSTANTLY complaining that there are too many match three games out there. Try to analyze why this is. The simple fact is, match three games are very popular. If they weren't game developers would not be making them. While I agree that perhaps this particular game shouldn't have been offered so soon after the first version, you have to understand why GGOTD is doing this. This is NOT purely for your enjoyment. One of the strongest ways of advertisement is word of mouth. This site, in my opinion, is to get games talked about and analyzed. I'm sure the game developers like to see what kind of feedback they get. Whether positive or negative, just as long as it is constructive. There was a time I was thinking this was a lost cause. Back about 6 months ago when only Doublegames were coming too us, I had just about had it. I am glad they are offering a variety of games (or at least from different developers). Go by the rule of thumb that you get something for nothing. These games are here daily to be played and analyzed AKA whiterabbit. He does a WONDERFUL review of the games. Most of us probably wouldn't or couldn't go into such detail, but we should all try. There it is, my hypocritical statement. I will make it a point to try to give my two cents on the actual game play from now on. I'm sorry if this has offended some, but I just feel that the petty complaining needs to come to an end. Thank you.

Installed & activated fine.

Gameplay is good, mouse controlled with gamepad support.

Graphically nothing fancy, option to play the game windowed or fullscreen.

Enough options to fool around with and several game types and difficulty levels.
It's a little shame that one cannot adjust the resolution of the game.

Don't like the the voice of that bubble guy, wish there was an option to shut it up in the options menu... :-) (Well, you can via a workaround, by editing/replacing the *.ogg voice-files in the sound subfolder within the folder of the installed game.)

I'll leave this one on my computer for now, just to see if my kid likes it. If not: it's gone, because it's simply not my type of game.

As for the price of this game: No way it's worth $19.95, IMO...
Download it now for free if you like this type of game, but don't buy it later. I'll bet you can find better priced games with a lot more to offer if you take look on the discount shelf in your local (PC/Electronic) shop...

The latest version has a few changes from its earlier release Aqua Bubbles that was given away 5 days ago. There are now four modes of play, Arcade which is basically the same as Aqua Bubbles , but the developer has now added three more modes called panic, puzzle and recolor. For a basic overview of the game I'd check out the previous comments from Aqua Bubble via the links below:

http://game.giveawayoftheday.com/aqua-bubble/#comments

and also check Locketts review in the forums:

http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/topic/2473?replies=2

There are also some slight changes to the options menu and the closing screen says "Let the Game Begin Again" rather than "I'll Be Back" lol

I'm unable to write an extended review today for the same reason as yesterday. But hopefully by tomorrow I'll be back to my usual full reviews.

Thank you Realore and the Game Giveaway team. To the community, I hope you all have excellent and productive days.
