I downloaded this game for my grandson, but it downloaded as a 60 minute demo and he was very disappointed. Did I do something wrong?

>anon

Look, if you want an action game that's free, you can get a high-quality side-scroller or a low-quality FPS or sim. I can't think of any 2D action concept that couldn't be thought "retro" in some way or another. People like you should stick to Bejeweled.

For a free game, it's okay, I like the cartoonish style and the weapons are cool. However, there are so many better free shooters out there. Plus, the music is repetitive.

The game runs great, the graphix are creative and cute, but the keyboard controls were awkward. There should be an option for mouse control somewhere. I beat the game in a very short time and was left wanting more levels.
I really enjoy what you guys and gals do here at this site! I like to be able to get a couple games without having to worry about spyware and the like getting in. Keep up the good work!

Well, regarding all of the negative comments, I truly don't understand them. This is a mostly great game. Not everything has to be an $80 game to be enjoyable. I liked it, the game ran smoothly, correct scoring, colorful, creative imaginations, and such. For people complaining about no/limited mouse support, it should not be a big complaint, as a larger percentage of scrolling shooter games require keyboard input. I had no problems with controlling the ship, firing the main weapons, or the secondary weapons, as I simply mapped the controls to the keys I want to use that are comfortable for me, just like you would on Unreal Tournament, Crysis, or any other game.

The game is almost perfect, but there are three main things that bothered me. The first is that at the end of every level you complete, you do not keep the gun/upgrades you have earned, and therefore have to start out at square one every level, which is frustrating for me. I think you should offer more powerups, and carry them over through the levels, or until you die.

Second thing, is the hit detection is not very good, meaning, sometimes you can hit the enemy directly, and it does not recognize it, which is a cause for frustration, especially in shmups.

Third thing is the beginning weapon itself, is just not very well designed, as it does not shoot straight forward, but range is short, and below where you actually are on the screen. It could be a better weapon, if possibly used as n upgrade (or downgrade), and have the main starting weapon shoot directly in front of you.

Thanks GGAOTD and Alawar for this offering!

The graphics are impressive and very imaginative. I found the fact that the ‘bullets’ did not exactly flow expected directions to be puzzling, annoying and challenging. To start with this unexpected part of the game play annoyed me, however as I continued to play I found this to be a fun twist to the game. The comments about being able to add a mouse or joystick were very appropriate; the ability to use these in play is a very desirable feature. Another feature you could add to entice players would be to be able to change the game play direction from playing left to right to playing right to left. Very few games have tis feature, and as this game is slightly quirky already it could only add to the feel of the game. I have also noticed that left handed players often state that the ability to change the game to better suite their hands is something they like.

Just played it. It's silly enough to be fun. Flying toilets as enemies? LOL.

Quick Review:

I really enjoy games from Alawar. But today’s game El Airplane was a little boring for me. After installing the game (Which installed smoothly and fast on my computer) I started playing the game. After a good 5-10 minutes I stopped playing because I hate how they programmed the controls. In order for you to attack an enemy you have to use your mouse with shots out bullets, then you have to use your arrow keys to move the plane and if you want to use a bomb to attack an enemy you have to click on the space bar.

Scoring:

Gameplay: 5/10 - Really bad controls (You must use your mouse, the keyboard arrow keys, and the space bar.)

Graphics: 7/10 - Decent graphics.

Music: 5/10 - The music just keeps looping.

Loading Time: 9/10 - Loads pretty fast on my computer.

Overall: 6.5/10

This game would have been a lot better if the controls where programmed properly.
