For those with the problem entering the Letter "E" in their user name... (or letter "D" in some cases) continue reading for the work around.

Just FYI: Its a minor bug and the good news is it doesn't happen to everyone. In a some systems... hitting the letter "E" causes the game to jump to the "Epiloge" thus ending the game before it starts (or the Letter "D" brings up the Dialog box.) Anyway, thanks to GMMan and Ricethief for the following fixes (two different methods)

GMMan FIX
For those who needs an “e” in the player name, type your name without the “e”, exit, and then open up “C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Playrix Entertainment\4 Elements\GameInfo.xml” (under XP) or “C:\ProgramData\Playrix Entertainment\4 Elements\GameInfo.xml” (Vista and 7) and change the “name” attribute under your player profile to what it should be.

Ricethief FIX
For people having issues with the “E” or other keys causing issues, go to the folder…Playrix Entertainment–>4 Elements–>Base right click on KeyMap file and select edit. You will see 9 different key settings. change the number or letter in the “” to another key you do not use. I set mine for the misc keys like +,, etc. Select save, you will have to have admin priv to the “base” folder. As with anything when messing with files make a backup of the file before you mess with it. Also you can just delete the KeyMap file, but it will throw up a error box when it starts. You can just click through the error box into the game. Hope this makes sense for the people having issues. I have no explanation why some of of have issues with the KeyMap file and others dont.

I really, really liked this game.

HOWEVER, I installed it on my Win7 64-bit laptop. The game has trouble starting up. OK. I could live with that. What I can't live with is that the game progress doesn't get saved. So, every time I play it, I have to start from the beginning again. Very disappointing.

.......................Moderator comment...................

Please read the comments that were posted on the day. (Which you obviously didn't bother to do). There was a fix for the problem with not saving progress. I also posted the fix in the forums.

I enjoyed this game. I like how there is a variety of different puzzle types and how the game wasn't over in 1 day like many other puzzle games.
I must say, I would have liked to see a few more of the find the pieces puzzles. Though some were hard to find, I really enjoyed having to use the completed items to find pieces for other items.
I also enjoyed how the developers took apart the images of the different creatures/species and as you completed levels, your fairy was able to build the images back up. The art was great although I do have to say that by the middle of book 3 I was tired of waiting for fairy to do her thing to build the picture. Maybe it was just because there were a lot of levels.
The levels did get harder and harder, though not very quickly. I like d how the last book contained some challenges with traps etc. I also found it cute on the last level at the end when all your exploding arrows spelled U WON OR I WON. (I didn't notice it was spelling anything until the W passed by)

This was a good game.

I LOVE this game!! So when it was offered a couple weeks ago as the free Game Giveaway of the Day, I immediately downloaded it, followed the installation instructions, registered it etc. Then when I went to play it, I could NOT get it to work at all. Kept getting one of those error messages asking me if I wanted to report it to Microsoft. So I then deleted it, and downloaded/installed it again...same thing. I had to go out of town for a couple weeks, and am only just now able to ask what do I do now?? I have this installed game that I want to play on my computer, but can't access it at all...and now the Giveaway is over for it!

.......................Moderator comment...................

Please read over all of the comments from that particular giveaway, you may find a fix there. If not please give me more details such as the exact error message. Try looking at your error logs as well. These can sometimes tell you more. Google for instructions on how to do it. If all fails post a request on the main forums:

I dont know if this has been stated yet, but today I was working on puzzle #2 (maybe 3) of the fairy chapter (ch 1) of the book of air, when all of the sudden, instead of wind coming out of the altar a waterfall did (I assumed this was a glitch or a mistake). BUT! Then I was taken the the Turtle page, (the last page of the book 34, the water book). It asked me to complete the Turtle spot-the-difference, and then completed the game for me. I missed out on almost 50% of the game!! What's up with this!

..................Moderator Comment........................

Sorry for the delay in replying. Not sure what could be wrong. Are the missed levels completely locked out or are you able to complete them after completing the last level. I can't remember whether you are able to replay previous levels.

You could try downloading the demo from Playrix and installing it to a different position then compare the contents of the folder. Create a third folder and copy all of the contents from the giveaway version, then from the demo version. I think there is a registration file contained in the giveaway one that's missing from the demo (it may be a hidden file so you will need to uncheck hide hidden folders via folder Options (Control Panel). Then see if the game will play as a full version. If it doesn’t try copying the giveaway version over to the demo again (apart from the executable), then try again. If it still doesn't work, delete the folder plus the demo. You may have to restart the game from scratch. This is just a suggestion. I've not had time to see if it works. No one else has reported this problem and there were thousands of downloads (16 440 to be exact) so that may suggest there is a problem with your computers set up, or there could be a conflict with another program.

Try using Game Booster, which apart from helping you to run games that require more RAM can also enable you to shut off non-essential windows programs that are running in the background and also non windows programs, that you have to configure yourself, one of which may be conflicting with the game. you can get Game Booster for free from IoBit:

http://iobit.com/gamebooster.html

I hope the issue gets fixed for you. You could also report the issue to Playrix; however, I don't think they will replace the game because the giveaway is over.

Great game. I loved it for the free online play till this giveaway. it's different enough to be refreshing.Under "air dragon" level the story says black dragon but the dragon in the picture associated is blue and the story describes a dark castle that appears white on the magic card. the option to stop fairy tips at the beginning was never repeated and drove me nuts when i couldn't get rid of her later. Sometimes in the later levels the map arrow would be right over a block and you couldn't see it to use the block or drag the movement cursor over the block.I also had problems with saving my game, using the letter q.I still can't get that fixed since i can't seem to use the fix recommended.thanks for a great game!

Has there been a fix yet for the problem of the saved progress being lost or taking you to a different level than where you left off (level 64)? We are using 3 different user files. Also had the "e" issue when entering one of the names, but got around it by skipping the e in the name.

On Level 63 you should give the player a head start. When the fairy is on the screen you can't make a chain and the energy is already flowing to the flaming arrows. My reaction time isn't what it used to be and it is discouraging to keep restarting knowing you are probably going to lose the race again.

@ 173 and a question to the Developers. #173 says that he/she "could not drag the playfield." My question for the developers is, - Is this deliberate so as to make the game harder, or is it something that needs to be fixed? In my earlier post I also forgot to mention that in Book 3 I had no 'hidden object level to get the special key' so as to move to the next level, although I was still allowed to do so and finish the game.
All in all a top game which I couldn't stop playing until I finished. Many thanks for the opportunity to have this game free.

This game has a very beautiful feel to it, and even the levels themselves as you play through and reach the end. Two suggestions I might have, though:

1. While in part it seems to be designed in in order to make the game more difficult, at times I wished I could move the screen around, even if only a little bit. This often happened near the sections with alternate paths when I wanted to go one way, but the element had gone a different way a little too much and pulled the screen with it.

....................Moderator comment................

Thank you for your feedback, much appreciated.

2. As a possibility, the developers might consider adding a fifth or sixth tile to the game that do not give bonuses in the form of magic spells. This could be another type of deadweight tile that clogs up the path to the exit, yet one that would not be as unforgiving as stone or rocks. This fifth type of tile could also be worked to give a non-spell bonus as well, such as requiring less tiles to make an explosion, and less tiles after that for each explosion size increase.

Apologies for taking a week to respond. To start let me say I LOVE match 3's. But I do prefer swap mode rather that drag to make the matches. Currently I am enamored with Gardenscapes. I also do not like hidden object games, My vision is not conducive to finding objects or, in this case, the differences in pictures. But I also understand that mixing game types can bring in a bigger audience and there are enough classic games to keep me happy.

The problem I had with this game is that I could not drag the playfield. It just showed me the direction I was to go and that was an issue when the map horseshoed and I was to go down but was at a spot before the top arch. This left me 3 or 4 rows to maneuver. There was a larger game field above me that I could not access but could of used to make the matches. I also like to work ahead and backtrack to make the path and this also presented a problem when the game field is not moveable by the player. These were not just 1 or 2 level issues but occurred frequently with the twisty map paths and my game play style.

I did enjoy this game and I liked the fact that you can start over with the same player and not have to create a new name to replay the game. It is a keeper for me. Thank you Playrix and GGOTD

I downloaded and installed the game last weekend. It plays great and I have to agree that the twist on Match-3 (my favorite game genre) is very refreshing. However, I noted a rather stark bug, when my son, Steven, put his name in the Player Registration page, so he could play the game. When you type an "e" in that field, you are immediately forwarded to the end of the game! The ending roll-up appears at the right side of the screen, with the ending script. My son had to call himself "Stvn", in order to play the game. My name is Paul, so I didn't notice that problem when I signed up. My wife had to change her player name, too. I have emailed the publisher about the bug.

I've installed the game at day of offer and I really like such games, BUT::

4 Elements don't allow me to write any nickname - after the 3rd letter screen changes and moves to the left

4 Elements don't save score!

at the start there's no change to start a saved game - there's only always the formular for the nickname

For the developer: I'm using os windows vista!

I hope, there will be in a few weeks a new, bugless version for us!

A message for the GAOTD-Team: before offering a game please run a test, but not with the original version, but rather with the GAOTD-version!
THX!

there were loads of users that had the same problem. GMMan posted a fix near the end of the comments. It has something to do with the inability to accept certain characters such as the letter E. Go to the forums and search out the post i made last week regarding this issue. it will tell you how to fix it.

Disappointing. I really like this game. However, on my Win7 system, it does not save my game progress. Every time I open it, I have to start from the beginning. Since I don't see anyone else complaining about that, I will assume it is one of Win7's glitches. Sorry I won't be able to keep this game.

A NOTE FOR THE DEVELOPERS: I really dislike this game [not]. Why? Because I cannot stop playing it! It is highly addictive and therefore should be a good seller for you. I find it very challenging, especially as you have to really think hard if youre to get all the tiles. If you don't the board 'moves'off screen and theres no way of getting back to the tiles you haven't managed to eliminate. For you a TOP game, for me, a headache but a pleasurable one.

I've really enjoyed playing this game this past week. The time limits are ample for relaxed play but still give a sense of challenge, especially as the boards become more complex. I think this is my favorite Playrix game so far.

I love this game. Beautiful graphics, pleasant sounds and lovely storyline.

Having got throught the early learning curve and hints I would have liked to have had the option to turn the fairy off.

The bonus bombs at the bottom I found to have colour issues. The stone indicators were the smallest colour in this section, and didn't neccesarily match the largest colour - the background: Green stone had a green background, so did the red, but lilac had a pale blue back ground and the yellow a dark blue.

This was probably compounded by the fact that the icons were all yellow and it was the colour of one of the stones. In other words it wasn't consistent. Seems like a little thing, but I would have thought easily fixed.

I couldn't create a second profile at all, whether it began with D or not - I went straight to the Epilogue and lost my saved game.

Having said all that - I still love playing it and it's beautiful. Thank you.

Really nice game. I tried it a while back on my laptop but the graphics card wasn't up to it.

Can't believe my luck getting it free for my new computer!

You get a real feeling of achievement as you complete a level. You've had to work for it! Nice colourful graphics and smooth scrolling. A bit of variety thrown in and I'm happy chaining gems for hours ...

Sad face.

I played the first two books (32 levels, not counting hidden object/spot the difference) but as the third book started to load, it kicked me back to the tile screen and started me back on level 1.

I had the same problem. Saved at level 10 and it started up at level 64. My son with a different player name didn't have that problem. I deleted the player and recreated it, but it again started at level 64. When I deleted the player and closed the game and then restarted and recreated the player everything worked as expected.

I have been playing this game every night, and it is an excellent game, but there is a problem that I noticed during the game play.

The issue is that when you are creating a chain, sometimes the chain goes away quickly while you are selecting another tile of the same color.

Video of the game is excellent, and I like the option to turn the music on and off. As you go through each card, it starts off easy, then on the last portion of the card, it gets hard to do.

Other than the issue that I mentioned above, I would give this game a 9 out of 10 and would recommend this game to a lot of people..

looks like it's probably a nice game - pretty graphics. Had to remove it though because it would only open in a narrow vertical space with the right edge missing. Tried every available screen resolution with no luck. Apparently the "play" button is on the right edge because I never saw it. Oh well......... you get what you pay for!

I found a hint somewhere that said HOLD DOWN THE LEFT MOUSE BUTTON when selecting the tiles..... what a difference. I soared through level 63 that way. What a great game.
I had a heck of a time trying to type in "Deb", so finally I put "Mom" and I was able to play the game just fine. I also had the problem with my mouse button being too sensitive and exploding three tiles when I had a long chain in mind.. but once I discovered that holding the mouse button worked better, I didn't have a problem. I know the giveaway is over but someone might be looking at the comments for help. Thanks GGAOTD !

Did not like the game (which rarely say). Very monotonous. The levels did most of the work themselves. I finished half the game and had seen hardly any difference from the 1st until I finally got so bored I quit. I love match three games, so I was certainly disappointed with this one. My 10 year old son left the room after about 5 minutes as he thought it was extremely boring also.

Downloaded this game 3X, last time after a clean computer start and with antivirus and firewall shut off. Each time, game opens fine, then shuts down to black window and hangs after about 1 minute, wiping off my desktop theme with it. I skipped the intro last time and went straight to game, but same thing. I've had this problem with a Playrix game before, but not with all Playrix games.

If anyone can give me a clue about this problem, I'd appreciate it, because I'm really disappointed about missing this game.

So, I downloaded it yesterday and cooked dinner, washed dishes, fell asleep on the couch, then went to bed. This morning I wanted to install the game but lo & behold the time had expired!

Cry me a river... I do hope that it will be offered again or that there could be a way to recognize when it was downloaded so that we don't miss out on these great games! Is it just me?
P.S. I do hope that you recover your main computer White Rabbit. Your reviews & tips are valuable...Thanks!

In response to the moderator comment:
Sorry to hear that you are disappointed, but if you’d taken the time to read the comments you would have immediately seen a solution to the problem many were having with this game.
________

I only posted my comments late at night but when I downloaded and played the game - there were exactly THREE comments. I found your comment to be a little on the rude side. I DO read comments before downloading a game. I was just offering FEEDBACK on the issue I had for the Game developers as YOU has posted requesting as such. Maybe next time I just won't bother. Thanks.

.............................Moderator Comment.....................

Hi ArrSea, sorry that you think I was being rude. The problem you referred to was quite common and had been mentioned several times before you'd posted your first comment, so from my perspective it seemed like you hadn't bothered to read the comments. I'm sure the problem had been addressed. On top of that I was having a very bad day after two of my main computers had developed serious faults which resulted in losing over a year of giveaways and loads of family images and documents. I had to reinstall two operating systems so if I was rude I apologise. If you read over all my past comments it's very rare to see such apparent rudeness. Again, I don't mean to be rude, it just annoying that I have to repeat myself over and over when moe than one user posts a problem that has already been covered.

Seems my issue is the same as noted by a few.... my Name was not accepted, and it seems to be the E at issue.
I had only played the game for the first time and was loving it, and got close to the end....
and now of course find it has not saved my game at all. Start all over again from the beginning.
I'll try different letters and see if that ends up with a profile.

For people having issues with the "E" or other keys causing issues, go to the folder...Playrix Entertainment-->4 Elements-->Base right click on KeyMap file and select edit. You will see 9 different key settings. change the number or letter in the "" to another key you do not use. I set mine for the misc keys like +,, etc. Select save, you will have to have admin priv to the "base" folder.

Good and funny game but you can't continue the game from the latest level you payed if you exit the game! I tried three times, it drives me crazy.

Angela if on windows xp with a basic mouse go to
start then click on control panel
then go to mouse and double click on that
then you are in the mouse properties area
you can do a double click speed test and fix the speed of your double clicking
hope this helps you or someone else.

Great game....but...I too have problems with the 'e'. When I use 'e' it's like hitting the enter key and the game begins. Also, got to level 16 before I shut down. It told me it saved. When I went back to the game, all progress was lost.

"I looked thru the comments and don’t see my problem. When I start the game the screen initially goes blank with “RGB 800×600″ in the corner. Then the game appears in a narrow vertical section of the screen to the left of the center with the left edge of the game cut off. My screen is 1280×768 (at least that’s what it says when I quit out of the game). Is there a way to have the game wider? (sorry, not a techie).

Try changing your screen resolution."

To what? I tried changing it to 800x600 and that made Everything - desktop, whatever windows I had open - appear in a narrow strip as described above.

It was just a suggestion.

great game. starts as a HOG turns into a match +3. Priced accordingly, plenty of game to play, interesting, and nice to look at.

the only things i could add are more power ups, different versions, more powerful, idk? also adding an undo last move wouldn't hurt, i noticed sometimes that would've been useful.

THX whiterabbit and playrix, keep up the good stuff!
been playin most of the day. this one is a keeper!

p.s. are there any rpg's or fps anywhere in the pipe line, those are some of the only genre i don't see here, just curious...

Unlikely. The size of the downloads would be a problem considering the number of users who use this service. The servers wouldn't be able to cope.

I haven't played this too long yet. It's a little simple so far, but a fun diversion. I was hoping that it would be more than the match/linking game it has been, having to hidden objects at the beginning led me to believe there would be many different types of puzzles. Other than that, it's a nice game.

By the way....forgot to mention that it downloaded, installed, and has run without any problems what-so-ever.

I am 65 years old and I am thoroughly enjoying this game. The graphics are wonderful! I've been really hooked and have not stopped playing fron installation until now -- several hours later -- when my hand and finger got to hurting so bad from arthritis that I had to stop. (LOL) Wanted to get here too to say how great this game is. Thanks sooooo very much GAOD and Playrix Entertainment -- I have been entertained for sure and am anxious to pick up where I left off at level 36. I'm into my 3rd Book now. Can't wait to see what the next grahics will look like! Thanks again!

Playrix has got to stop adding premium to all their games. This game can be bought for $6.99 from gamehouse. I got it for free from gamehouse sometime ago.
